The Danville Dans
Charles Sturies Oct 2017
Danville's minor league baseball
team I got a request to write about
just like that one about Dan.
It's fun to go to their stadium
at dusk.
The sun still beats down.
The concessions are prompt and tasty.
Of course the players' homes
are scattered all around.
They've got ability, of course -
you can't even make little league
without being somewhat good,
and some of the players
rose to play in the majors, although
I can't remember names.
The stadium was the original place
that they made a movie at
about Babe Ruth called The Babe
with John Goodman playing Babe.
The last coach seems competent.
They have I guess a raffle
but being a bad luck artist
I don't pay attention to stuff
like that.
They have a good public
address system and the help seems
competent,
and there's a good cross-section
of people in the stands
some of whom are fascinating to
look at.
They usually win when I go
and even have an elevator
for the disabled or
handicapped.
Yeah the Dans -
Lets give em' a hand -
a night at the ballpark
with them is a pleasure
although for certain people
a night there might
haunt them with memories
of what might have been
for them in a yesteryear
what with some of their
players gone in a couple
of years, the ghosts of
future and past big
leaguers, the wooden benches, and the
gratitude on some of
the fans' faces just
to watch a single game

Your teeth will fall out
and you need to study
Your tooth is falling out
and you need another buddy
Your feet call out
and your buddles rest on their laurels
in splte of what you call her,
your mother, that is,
and yeah your older sis
and your teeth could use some work
but if you don't want to study,
there's nothing I can do about your use
of the fork
or torque
of the mind
and your one tooth
really hurts
so don't blurt
out about
a snout
or the football expertise
of Dan Fouts
Yeah teeth
and cumulative knowledge
right not
It's a puzzler

Creativity
Charles Sturies Jun 2019
It's in dress a lot these days,
Llsoin hair
also in the taste in music
I wish I could be
creative in stuff like that.
I'd feel like I belong
there's still a little time
for me though.
Charles Sturies Mar 2018
I read somewhere
that Patti Smith
was into early James Brown music
and I like particularly
his Chonnie on Chon Chon, the Bells,
and Bewildered but I threw
the albums they were on away
Someone just told me that
Patti Smith was one of
the early punk rockers.
I don't know much about that
or what it has to do with early
James Brown music
but I did like the ***
appeal she exuded
when I saw
publicity photos of her a
long while back
I'm not driving at anything
in particular but it's strange
how some things are
connected, isn't it?
The scope of James Brown
music might be the immense
and early James Brown
probably really isn't that great.

My Imaginary Female Lover
Charles Sturies Jul 2018
It's neat
How out feet get entangled,
\How we like to smooch,
How we like to make it,
And how independent
We find dursleys,
How they are certain
Biorhythms
That are us
And how pleasant
We feel around each other
How we love all our different odors
And how we like to lick eachother
Charles Sturies Oct 2018
The way you form your lips to kiss.
The way you move your lips to eat.
The way you lick your lips in anticipation.
Of giving me a lover's peck on the cheek.
The way your lips pout when you're pouting
At something I've done.
The way your lips part when you
Maybe take a drag on a cigarette
Although I've never seen you smoke.
The thin slices of pizza it looks like
You're slipping into your mouth
When you speak.
You're proud of your kisses,I need them,
And they do a number of things to me.

To one of my new "my girls"
love entanglement- not to the old-
I'm just putting you on hold

Our legs get tangles
we try to pretend we're tough
and up to *****
motioning maybe
wanting to for their motion,
irregardless of whose conching
at the latest railroad crossing
but we're just tossing
and turning in our sleep,
wanting to be more yearning.

You got the nicest taut
**** and I like the way
your pants hug your ****
cheeks in back.
You're not lazy
and I look for that
in "all my women".
You seem to bear
with me on some
of my obsessions and
hypochondria
and you must secretly
have a sense of humor,
you're clever enough.
Your face is pretty
but in an addictive way
that I'd be afraid of losing you
to another guy
if we were going together.
You're nice and feminine
but up enough, it seems
on some contemporary spot
and what I find is dear
enough contemporary
music that you're into can
be hard somewhat since
the music can depress one, I feel,
and some of it make me
like it or not I'm sorta tough to myself
suicidal.
So I figure I'd enjoy you as a wife.
I've got a number of other chicks
I'm interested in too, but yes,
feel, with you, I wouldn't be
biting off more than I can
chew.

The Leaf of Your Love
Charles Sturies Jul 2017
The main leaf
has lines in it
that last a life time
just like your life line
in palm reading.
It smells of wetness and parchment,
like nothing special falling from a tree in archment
Gimbel's and Macy's
it says it seems like an either-or
classness or cheapness
but the assumptions there about either one is simply a bore
The tree gleams
and it's infinite when it portrays the lust of the leaf
it seems
and you can see a motif
the glistens for ever more

Time for nursery rhymes
That aren't worth a dime
But seriously
Yeah steel band music
On the corner of the streets
In Miami
In the old days,
Improvised bands with
All sorts of
Improvised instruments
And little boys
Playing on their miniature sets of bongo,
Ukuleles,and harmonicas.
All
Music in different ways.

Go between the sheets
Go between the farrows
Go between the bottoms
Go between the treats

with my feet.
My ant

a glow worm
of that one street
where the Inkspots

Down and Out
Charles Sturies Jan 2018
I can remember when I was down and out
using vending machines like mad.
Trying to get change out of change dispensers
that someone had let go
mooching cigarette after cigarette
panhandling
drinking used pop
and eating other peoples' leftovr food.

I know it was extremely unsanitary
I even had to use public bathrooms, a lot,
the Salvation Army for a nightly stay
and one night I slept on a bench at the police station
I'd wear ***** clothes,
waited a couple of hours for a small donut,
and made a meal out of a 40 cent bag of
french fries at McDonald's
taking a load off.

Oh well - what a ******* experience.

I had been desolate, destitute, homeless,
a derelict and a strict person
but down and out - wow.

Dan the Man they call him,
as well as Danny some times,
I bet he likes clams
and even a good slice of spiral ham,
Dan the Man
He says he worked with his hands.
I believe it -
brick mason, he said.
His big "guns" might prove it.
He seems nice
yet with a dry, caustic wit
sometimes.
He has good taste in movies,
relatively speaking,
to some people,
although probably just to pick out DVDs
out of the library
and get it on the big dayroom TV
is friendly
and days he loaded and
unloaded chopped in 'Nam.
I believe it,
even though he might have covered up boyhood polio
to get in.
Is that a sin?
I covered up about 8 maladies
myself to get in.
Yeah, Dan the Man
although some might frown on
his so-called caustic wit.
His wit is a fit.
He even likes to read
and has a wide range of interests
and would have made a good priest
in my opinion.

pretty much for sure

One Line Of A Song

I love that line out of
the Rascals' song Beautiful Morning
where Felix the lead singer (who I heard
died of a heart attack a while back and then a

"Each bird keeps singing his 'ol song"
It just reminds me of a friend
nicknamed 'bird' and me
who's been called that
and birds as in guys you stare at
in big city situations
all with our favorite song
I don't know whether people think
my and my friend are really like

song maybe especially not
as men but as birds.
