Expresso coffee tastes
Mighty good so the song goes
Female acrobats in bed
Act as they should
I just wanna shake their hands,
Give them a a big hug,
And give them a picture where I'm
Showing them my big mug
You know-some people don't call me
Bulldog for nothing
There probably aren't any-
I've been told by [psychologists
I imagine stuff.

Having Margaret Brennan on the

that she wants me back I guess
she thinks as a follower

oh heck I could go on and on

One Line Of A Song
Charles Sturies Jan 2018
I love that line out of
the Rascals' song Beautiful Morning
where Felix the lead singer (who I heard
died of a heart attack a while back and then a
few days later was listed in the 'Living
Celebrities' birthdays) where he sings
"Each bird keeps singing his 'ol song"
It just reminds me of a friend
nicknamed 'bird' and me
who's been called that
and birds as in guys you stare at
in big city situations
all with our favorite song
I don't know whether people think
my and my friend are really like
the latest bird and these dudes
in bus stations are some dry nuts
or what but the line just chokes
me up since we all have a
song maybe especially not
as men but as birds.

Indian Blood
Charles Sturies Aug 2017
Piscatawan,
Sashcarchawan,
Indian tribes,
Indian vibes,
all in a row,
keeping in tow.
The fat of the land
is all booked up
So no matter hard
they suffer
on the reservations
we still lack discretion
as far as their preservation
so vibes or no
we still give them more seeds to sow

Tex
If i could tell a tale
About a long, true Texan,
I'd go back to Tex-Mex
But free freddy fender
From all responsibility
For Tex.
Tex was a dog of a guy
Although a nam vet
He's struck me
As totally lost.
He couldn't function
At even the lowest level
Oh he had his cowboy hat
And his boodies
But his lips curved
And he was, yes, naive beyond all belier
I could go on further
About him but I won't.

Suggested topics seem cogent.
Compliments seem in total
Constructive criticisms seem un loco
Insights seem pronto
and there's practically even something about
how I view the Lone Ranger and Tonto.
The gripe about
obscure references to songs
seems chronic, as in, for me, a tonic
and the criticism about
my ****** appetite for my "girlfriends"
references and emphasis on blacks
seem frank
like I'm not a crank.
All in all
I've got to be less abstract,
yes, abstract,
and use a little more, in general, tact,
and be frank,
about how I ran
and how I like to think I'm in
a real think tank.

Dan - A Fellow Patient
Charles Sturies Oct 2017
Dan the Man they call him,
as well as Danny some times,
I bet he likes clams
and even a good slice of spiral ham,
Dan the Man
He says he worked with his hands.
I believe it -
brick mason, he said.
His big "guns" might prove it.
He seems nice
yet with a dry, caustic wit
sometimes.
He has good taste in movies,
relatively speaking,
to some people,
although probably just to pick out DVDs
out of the library
and get it on the big dayroom TV
is friendly
and days he loaded and
unloaded chopped in 'Nam.
I believe it,
even though he might have covered up boyhood polio
to get in.
Is that a sin?
I covered up about 8 maladies
myself to get in.
Yeah, Dan the Man
although some might frown on
his so-called caustic wit.
His wit is a fit.
He even likes to read
and has a wide range of interests
and would have made a good priest
in my opinion.
Catholic, I know,
pretty much for sure
I'm sure a tour in 'Nam.

The Leaf of Your Love
Charles Sturies Jul 2017
The main leaf
has lines in it
that last a life time
just like your life line
in palm reading.
It smells of wetness and parchment,
like nothing special falling from a tree in archment
Gimbel's and Macy's
it says it seems like an either-or
classness or cheapness
but the assumptions there about either one is simply a bore
The tree gleams
and it's infinite when it portrays the lust of the leaf
it seems
and you can see a motif
the glistens for ever more

Charles Sturies Aug 2017
No one looks like Bozo.

One I thought looked like Emmit Kelley without makeup but I really don't know how that is.

One looks like a humorous orderly in Mount-Sade.

One looks like Magpie, a little movie scene whom I think might have a great Native American seeing her right there in the picture gallery of Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.

One looks like how you'd imagine an African-American Wyatt Earp would look.

One looks like that mafia I saw in Sport Magazine once where he was in a crowd at a major league baseball game and somebody yelled **** the umpire and it showed him pulling a revolver out of his zoot suit coat pocket.

One looks like a humorously very windy African-American man like Bill Cosby might have looked to some.

Down and Out
Charles Sturies Jan 2018
I can remember when I was down and out
using vending machines like mad.
Trying to get change out of change dispensers
that someone had let go
mooching cigarette after cigarette
panhandling
drinking used pop
and eating other peoples' leftovr food.

I know it was extremely unsanitary
I even had to use public bathrooms, a lot,
the Salvation Army for a nightly stay
and one night I slept on a bench at the police station
I'd wear ***** clothes,
waited a couple of hours for a small donut,
and made a meal out of a 40 cent bag of
french fries at McDonald's
taking a load off.

Oh well - what a ******* experience.

I had been desolate, destitute, homeless,
a derelict and a strict person
but down and out - wow.
