The only way to learn is the hard way
so some people say.
I like subtle teaching.
Let it hold sway
but if you think you're dense
then there's no false pretenses here,
getting hit on the head
with the truth thru a can of mace.
You obey.
Why not obey is an
institution emphasized
societe'.
"Get in line."
"Cooperate
and graduate, or else."
"hear what I say.
It's all the same.

Love is in the Air for Me
Charles Sturies Jan 2018
Love is in the air
It's everywhere
OOO I'm losing you
But we win against ISIS
and I wouldn't worry about certain people
being drips or even our sissis
Not that we really do,
Some of us at least,
Or if there's rhyme or reason
to the rock group Little Feat
I'm sure the dust will clear
on the Jimmy Dean - John Wayne
duel delusions of some of us.
That we'll be more grateful
for simple love demonstrated
and won't feel we have to be registrated
for all the latest raffles
life will be one big successful raffle
and not for us a big hassle
and l'll look up an old Yankees farmhand
that sounded good to me on the Internet
Bobby Lasko
Love, love is in the air.

There was the backfield tandem of Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davies on several West Point football teams of the UOS.

There is that power hitting duo of the modern day Yankees - Gary Sanchez and Aaron Judge.

There were those great power hitters of the 70s, I believe, that seemed to come in clusters like Mike Schmidt, Breen Downing, and yes, I believe, John Milner.

There was, of course, Ruth and Gehrig that stood out on the 1927 Yankees.

There's Hawke Leonard and James Harden, an unsung pair of the San Antonia Spurs and the Houston Rockets, respectively, in pro basketball that stand out.

There's Stephan Curry and Kevin Durant, a Mutt and Jeff combination in the Golden State Warriors.

There was a couple of gifted first to play on a University of Illinois basketball team African Americans that were tantalizing good at that time - Mannie Jackson and Governor Vaughn.

There was those 4 great old time Boston Celtics guards; Bob Cousy, Bill Sharman, K.C. Jones, and Sam Jones.

There was Bill Bradley and Dave Debusschere manning the wings of the New York Knickerbockers pro basketball teams of the late sixties, I believe.

There was Ron Kissinger and Glenn Becker, the keystone duo on the Chicago Cubs of the sixties, I believe.

There was Mainstay, reliable pitcher for the Casey Stengal dynasty teams - Vic Raschi and Allie Reynolds and there were great teamsmen of Vince Lombardi's pro football Green Bay Packers Super Bowl team like Dave Hammer, Forrest Gregg, and Boyd Dowler.

You'd ne so so dumbfounded.
I want you bad
You're healthy and robust
You make me happy not sad

you're not bored
and look supple and soft
and offer up your autograph
while being aghast
and with being hintingly say nothing to scathe

I've got your picture on my wall
you look like you'd be a ball
I read on the internet where you got busted

Some Things That Talk to Me
Charles Sturies Sep 2017
City lights talk to me
as I travel through the night
on the interstate
by car, by bus
or as I can see on a train
or from an airplane looking down.
Even the lights and so forth
of small cities, towns, small towns, and villages
that I travel through
speak to me.
A dirt road on a farm
or small town highways
and roads as they talk.
Yeah New York City and
the character it has of its own
at night especially
and driving the van with the cops honking
and people streaming
into the streets.
Yeah looking up at the jet airlines
at night as they talk to one with
their lights twinkling
This is soul to me, especially
Cleveland at night
and the Baltimore Bethany at night
and looking at the nooks and
crannies of big city ghettos
as you pass though on a
Greyhound during the day and night.
Yeah the chills you can get
especially at night
and daydreaming that
the 2 songs - Hot Child in the City
by Nick Gilder and You
Belong to the City by Glen Frey
as you waltz through big city
streets especially at night
thinking you're a tough
guy with epilepsy or something as you start
shaking or a been-around
drugster like I fancy myself

You got a real gift in your personality
and your self-assuredness has a nice air of familiarity about it
You lend a helping hand
but don't mind helping people learn to help themselves on self bland
You're nice and handsome
but not hardboiled about it or hateful like Charles Manson
You dress unique
but it all looks like it came from a nice male boutique
I bet you're a real understanding policeman
and policed the streets like a real policeman
You're a quality nurse
and don't walk around looking like
you're about to appear wearing a male purse
Good luck!
That's my opinion, anyway, me or Chuck
not as in race riot starting
but some Chucks do their share of farting

Amen, Reba
Charles Sturies Jan 2018
As Reba McIntire says,
the heart is a lonely hunter.
but the lonely sea is its spear
So we go and dive into the sea
seeking to ride out our loneliness
till we hunt no more with our heart
In other words, at least here in America
we have a phrase like
from sea to shining sea in one of our songs
God Bless America
Loneliness is a state of mind
where we're fooking for a sign
to explain the times
as if the line in the cave analogy
of Plato's Republic
represents a fife and death matter
for alf of us
all the time
(not that all of us know about Plato)
and house the loneliness.

by the Ohio Express
Nice is Nice and Green Tambourine
by the Lemon Pipers
Simple Simon
by the 1910 Treatgum Company -

I liked the bubblegum rock of Jessica Simpson when she was in her heyday singing-wise
and as far as bubblegum soul I liked the Jackson 5, the Sylvias, the Jets, and the Five Stairsteps, and Cubie, especially their song Oh Child.

Yeah, teenagers back then - I thought they were both charming and happy-go-lucky and not that much into the mournful dirges of my own generation like Let It Be and Hey Jude by the Beatles.

Burgers I've Liked
Charles Sturies Aug 2017
I do like home-made burgers, the kind that our mothers used to make on Saturday night that even though they put hair on the chest - I felt like I had enough of that.

I like cook-out burgers straight-up, though.

I like the Big Mac. It's easy to get down.

I love the Whopper! It's so juicy cool.

I like the thick burgers that Hardees puts out, especially the baby-back rib one, even though the fat nauseated me and us Muslims aren't supposed to eat pork.

I like the mushroom and swiss, one of my favorite ones, it's got mushrooms.

I like the bacon cheeseburger. Once again, I shouldn't be eating the bacon, though.

Steak-n-Shake I'm unimpressed with, although I used to like their steak burgers with pickles and ketchup back when Steak-n-Shake was good, as well as their cheeseburger with 2 dill pickle spears and their lettuce-tomato burger used to be really tasty.

By the way, I'll throw in that I like the Chicago Dog much more that any old burger.

And that the bacon and cheeseburger is my favorite.

Here at the VA - that's a real nono -
At least I've been told that - but some of my romantic interests coming to fruition,
A major breakthrough in Illinois football and basketball recruiting,
A good showing in football - maybe a bowl game -
And a terrific start to the U. of I. basketball season.
A good selection for new Yankee manager,
who suggests innovations
And some really good hot story line movies
If I have children - maybe one or two coming forth and claiming me
Some good luck for my sister Nancy
Continuous good health for both my sisters
Good health for my friends and no blows for them
Some special mail
My foster daughter Maria Elena  - writing another warm nice letter for me
All this plus four hard books for my sister to figure out how to order,
Three jazz CDs that might be rare, I don't know
Pharrah Sanders. Thad Levies and Elvin Jones
Three nicely cool CDs from an "affluent" friend
As usual a $100 gift card to where I buy my CDs
And maybe a few nice surprises
I hope it's a very special Christmas for me
Just like the above.

doing most of the damage.
2) Violent *** crimes
3) Character assassination
4) slander
5) petty theft
6) some mental patients acting out
And disturbing the peace
7) premeditated ******
8) forcing conscientious objectors
to fight
Had enough?
I bet I sound sorta self righteous?

Their hits are like top 40 country -
That's just as good as a flood of classic rock on top 40 FM stations.
Hits like they had in Cotton Candy (Hirt),
Last Date (Floyd Cramer)
and, I believe, Alley Cat (Bent Tafrie)
may sound trite and stale to real music outies
and long haves erudite and fascinating,
but nothing like keeping it simple, stupid,
like the infantry motto says -
and avoid all the affected esoterian in cult music circles.

Parkland cop
Parkland High School,
Come into view
We'll sue the cop,
For being on top,
But more bloodshed,
Hohum.
Some more excitements?
Some more very serious up tightment!
Most of us are hardly bloodthirsty.

Back in Black
Charles Sturies Oct 2018
Christina Aguilera on Jimmy Fallon-
Dressed in all black outfit along with her first while **** female
Dancers, making her something colorfully scenic
And well with the tune having an interesting bent.
Then after that some of the broads whose posters are on my wall
Looked like they were wearing black
In some places
Soon I was thinking I was being plotted
On me by them with the black being a death anger omen-
Plotted against for being a wet blanket about Led-
Zepplin music and they wanted to shoot me-
One of them
I explained myself then
And we all wanted gracefully into the night.
