There was the backfield tandem of Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davies on several West Point football teams of the UOS.

There is that power hitting duo of the modern day Yankees - Gary Sanchez and Aaron Judge.

There were those great power hitters of the 70s, I believe, that seemed to come in clusters like Mike Schmidt, Breen Downing, and yes, I believe, John Milner.

There was, of course, Ruth and Gehrig that stood out on the 1927 Yankees.

There's Hawke Leonard and James Harden, an unsung pair of the San Antonia Spurs and the Houston Rockets, respectively, in pro basketball that stand out.

There's Stephan Curry and Kevin Durant, a Mutt and Jeff combination in the Golden State Warriors.

There was a couple of gifted first to play on a University of Illinois basketball team African Americans that were tantalizing good at that time - Mannie Jackson and Governor Vaughn.

There was those 4 great old time Boston Celtics guards; Bob Cousy, Bill Sharman, K.C. Jones, and Sam Jones.

There was Bill Bradley and Dave Debusschere manning the wings of the New York Knickerbockers pro basketball teams of the late sixties, I believe.

There was Ron Kissinger and Glenn Becker, the keystone duo on the Chicago Cubs of the sixties, I believe.

There was Mainstay, reliable pitcher for the Casey Stengal dynasty teams - Vic Raschi and Allie Reynolds and there were great teamsmen of Vince Lombardi's pro football Green Bay Packers Super Bowl team like Dave Hammer, Forrest Gregg, and Boyd Dowler.

2 Latina Beauties

They have
cute Latina noses,
bewitching eyes,

nice dark hair,

They both seem

about their engaging *** appeal.
I loved to go out -
We'd have fun, what with their infectious

and their nice female Latina sophistication
as well as my interests

and their accompanying
good points

that might pop up).

Musings
Charles Sturies Aug 2017
All I got was rose petals inside a couple of pages of an old Encyclopedia Britannica book, but it was good enough of a present, from whom I don't know.

I suspect it was from my ex-wife.

Ringo just got a photograph, but I'm sure he treasures it - of me as a little boy, I like to pretend.

Petals, pictures. She loves me, she loves me not.

Yeah, there is a little bit of a flower child in all of us, even me,
and the love generation isn't actually a hate generation in disguise like I suspected.

I don't try to **** people with kindness, think I can **** just with my eyes, heard I was a "tough cookie" with a kind heart (maybe so)
but I don't think some people are such sour apples anymore
and I think that there's basically good in all of us.

By they way, do you ever notice you improve your lot a lot without even noticing it sometimes?

It's like at Christmas when they say "big" or is it "good" things come in small packages.

Indian vibes,

By autocrat I mean a domineering bossy pseudo-dictator of a basically free country.

No, I say, and he's doing a good job, but he has thing kinda harsh peopled following that probably wouldn't exist if it wasn't for certain pink lazy young people infiltrating the power structures of this country.

That sounds far-fetched, I know, and the babbling of a jealous old man, but that's my hunch - there are too many young people in high school who come home and plop themselves down on the couch to a bunch of inane TV with a whole bag of Lay's potato chips at their fingertips, irritating their right-winged father, cheating afterward, and getting educated in a technical field and offending dangerous psychotics off the street.

If Trump would just correct that and not take his hang ups out on us Latinos (I'm partially Mexican, Puerto Rican, South American, and Spanish, so far as I know) and Muslims like me, this country wouldn't disintegrate with mass murderers and such, who might have delusions that Trump is their der fuhrer.

He's kind of a know-it0all and becoming autocratic as it would seem.

He could prevent this from coming to full fruition by just minding the liberal media a little bit.

Short
Charles Sturies Aug 2017
There's Billy Short, a promising pitcher in the Yankee chain back in the mid to late fifties, I believe, that had a brief stay with the parent team.

There's Chris Short, a successful pitcher with the Philadelphia Phillies back in the mid to late sixties, if I remember correctly.

There is short as in Tim, who I remember as "some character" a year behind me in high school who was in a couple of "cool" cliques, something which I wasn't cut out for.

There's short as in shorttimers, which was slang for an enlisted man in the army during Vietnam who, partially because he was a draftee or for other reasons wanted out of the army bad for obvious reasons, who was no lifer sergeant who'd get a charge out of sending guys over to 'Nam while he ate "delicious" army cook-made apple pie sent down to the orderly room specifically in case by the cook in the mess hall kitchen just for such sergeants.

There's Luke Short, the all-American cowboy as in ****** paperback Western books.

There's short as in people who might prefer being called "less tall".

There's short as in a cute little compact car; I believe that's Afro-American slang.

There's a short as in blown electrical fuse.

There's shortness as in missing something in a dining hall, for example.

There's getting short as in one working their way out of a basically unpleasant institution.

I'm sure there are those of you who know all about shortness.

Pardon me for being trite or somethin'.

Burgers I've Liked
Charles Sturies Aug 2017
I do like home-made burgers, the kind that our mothers used to make on Saturday night that even though they put hair on the chest - I felt like I had enough of that.

I like cook-out burgers straight-up, though.

I like the Big Mac. It's easy to get down.

I love the Whopper! It's so juicy cool.

I like the thick burgers that Hardees puts out, especially the baby-back rib one, even though the fat nauseated me and us Muslims aren't supposed to eat pork.

I like the mushroom and swiss, one of my favorite ones, it's got mushrooms.

I like the bacon cheeseburger. Once again, I shouldn't be eating the bacon, though.

Steak-n-Shake I'm unimpressed with, although I used to like their steak burgers with pickles and ketchup back when Steak-n-Shake was good, as well as their cheeseburger with 2 dill pickle spears and their lettuce-tomato burger used to be really tasty.

By the way, I'll throw in that I like the Chicago Dog much more that any old burger.

And that the bacon and cheeseburger is my favorite.

I daydream that they emphasize

Lover Lover Jingle Jangles
Charles Sturies Jul 2017
Jingle Jangle
My heart's set on the female rock group the Bangles
and old time hit songs by groups like the Spanish
I even like Elton John's song Daniel
That's when I was a pretty cherry vet
and forgot what was it I read in some of the army manual
A lover can be cute
with you
about the same thing as what I want out of a daydream
with the old time fantasy it can lead
to holding hands and feeling this is a scream
And that's when what I call jingle jangle music
come in with thoughts of someone nice
to make you feel freed
and not costing one's seed
anything like that
for a modern day fee
Jingle Jangle music makes it so cozy because
of what the lines mean
as they make you feel
for yosekf
yoself yoself
and nobody else

Then I could go back

and all a hack a hack
and believe in things like the little self.
An ego I have not

not a choice for dress of jeans.
Anyway, I'll cast my lot

I live and die with the Yankees during the baseball season.
The combination of Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez in they're as good as they seem just might lead to a World Championship this year.

I liked the bubblegum rock of Jessica Simpson when she was in her heyday singing-wise
and as far as bubblegum soul I liked the Jackson 5, the Sylvias, the Jets, and the Five Stairsteps, and Cubie, especially their song Oh Child.

Yeah, teenagers back then - I thought they were both charming and happy-go-lucky and not that much into the mournful dirges of my own generation like Let It Be and Hey Jude by the Beatles.
All this war and economic oppression is bad enough as it is.
Why add insult to injury with depressing music?

You are a choosin'
the fusion
of scroogin'
and contusion
to send
me into
ecstasy
of an elasticity
that ends in electricity
or whether you even
remember me
and how I wanted
to introduce you
to tea
for two
on the front porch
of a southern home
with the fireflies out
on a southern night

Sandt Amaro and Karl Spooner on the old Brooklyn Dodgers.

My 2 all-time favorite players of my favorite team the Yankees are
an putfielder acquired in a transaction Vernon Webb
and the Rookie of the Year for, I believe, 1957
an outfielder first baseman Norm Cisbern.

My 2 favorite all-time Illinois basketball players were sixth men Ed Perez and Joseph Bertrand.

My 2 favorite all-time Detroit Lions are Bobby Cayne and Pork Walker with Ces Bingaman a nice third.

My favorite all-time Cleveland Browns are Otto Graham and Frank Gatsby.

My all-time 2 favorite Chicago Bulls are Michael Jordan and Dave Corzine.

Mordern-day-wise, I like Parig of the LA Dodgers, Steven Aren who last I saw was with the Washington Nationals, and in modern Illini football I loved Monty Wilson. He hit so hard and the sound of a prize recruit who never got in on a game. D'Angelo McGary and I liked the sound of the name. Duane Brantley who was a large for the time offensive lineman out of Chicago wo dropped out before he had a chance to play.

This is just scratching the surface, I guess, since I'm not into the star system per se.

Uncle **** was soft and kind.
My brother-in-law ****
is smart and on time.
My mother always said I was good looking
'cause I looked like
**** Tracy.
I say both me and him are too
tough looking and hard
and yeah the real Tracy (whoever it is)
is one of the most beautiful
instruments I've ever heard.

The line - I never promised you a rose garden
and with me finishing it I added "at all"
The line - I'm here for the party - and me even
though they didn't put under my name in the high
school yearbook, "Where's the party" like a
hoody dropout buddy of mine got!
The line - Take her she's all I got - I added
"she's more than enough"
The line - I'm just an Okie from Muskogee with
my addition "obviously"
The line - Jambalaya crawfish pie - my addition
"sounds good to me even"
The line - Smoky Mountain Rain - I add on
"when it rains, it pours, of course, but when
I'm around it comes down in torrents."
The line - When my baby loves me -my add on
"when, though, I think".
That's all for now.

Don't you just love
to see the new polka dot
dresses
for young ladies
that are coming into fashion?
The reminds
me
of a clown in a polka dot outfit,
a female sports mascot dressed in
polka dot overalls,
Howdy Doody and the polka dots
of the freckles if his face,
a new sweetheart
and me imagining her in that
itsy bitsy yellow polka dot bikini,
a suave male friend dressed in
a satin bold polka dot shirt
that's earrings at the sleeve cuffs,
polka dots
On the wrapper of a new kind
of sucker and decorating the sucker itself
hell yeah the polkas themselves -
the sky's the limit!

The only way to learn is the hard way
so some people say.
I like subtle teaching.
Let it hold sway
but if you think you're dense
then there's no false pretenses here,
getting hit on the head
with the truth thru a can of mace.
You obey.
Why not obey is an
institution emphasized
societe'.
"Get in line."
"Cooperate
and graduate, or else."
"hear what I say.
It's all the same.

Circus catcher,
Max Patkin in a total clown outfit,
Willie Mays remembered,
hot dogs,
the soothing nature of baseball on TV,
talk of a Yankee rebirth,
me projecting that the Cubs
will repeat
if Jason Heyward spells Dexter Fowler
the breezes of spring
appropriate spring clothing,
major league baseball box scores again
right under the fresh major league baseball
standings in the sports section
college baseball on ESPN (I guess it's on already)
teams filling out their 25
man rosters,
sweat of the brown, rooting
for your team,
these are just a few of the signs
of the rite of spring
1- a baseball comedian of old
2- in replacement for Dexter Fowler, Heyward had a bad year that year

If I had a clipboard
I'd chart Yankee spring training wins,
my weight,
and my on-going health problems
and see if they interact,
all on a lined sheet of writing paper
since I fancy myself
a race horse a la Man of War
and want to know
life guard's techniques like a friend
knows
so I can just live
just like the song
by Bobby Brown goes.
*** up that piece of
used bubble gum
and stick it underneath
your table
if you want!

Incessant nose-picking in a dry-air climate,
Nurses that seem fussy,
Artsy-Craftsy people who are animated,
Delusional types (that's me for sure)
and how good that they think are as a result of
the feelings they have that seem to cause it.
Coy smiles on unassuming females,
the new country singers and how they seem
to wait, mixing together
all sorts of roots - how complete they sound.
Jonathan Winters as anything.
Mad Magazine classic humor,
how the least likely people
like the doorman and the coffee dolly
fancy themselves domineering ******'s with
followers, drips that they prey on and all
sorts of powerful new concepts
as a revision of Adolf.
That's it for the latest that amuses me.
