to define love.
You'll be baffled
bewildered & broken by the end.

The cynical ones
will laugh,
say it's dead,
overused and cliche.
Why try write what Whitman, Dickinson, Frost & Shakespeare
have already covered?

The romantic ones
will wax on for hours
describing inner & outer beauty
compared to anything that strikes their eye.
Why can't you see it's everywhere?

The hip ones
will scare you,
take a ****
& describe some detailed carnal fantasy
involving tapioca & a talking *****
named Pony.

Ask a lawyer,
they could tell you the legal definition.

Ask your parents,
they will tell you something trite about seeing it through.

Ask little kids
for an adorably wise response.

Ask a dog
as it's ******* your leg.

Ask a scientist,
they will describe the chemical reactions in the brain.

Ask a prisoner,
they will tell you it's something they miss.

But never ask a poet
to define love.
Your brain will hurt,
half your day gone
& you'll be left heart broken
by the end.

i'm simply very honest *
with everything
& literally say whatever's on my mind

poems
are actually what happen
when i think
about what words to put where
*and the people who cannot handle this free spirited discourse eventually leave because they can't handle the truth. I don't leave people.

sa sha
cigarette smoke hung heavy in the air
slow and steady like time was waiting
for him to catch up

with weathered leather jacket and rough unshaven jaw
bright eyes that couldn't have been more
distant than ever
he's been gone since

bitter resentment
blind nostalgia for the old gal he used to have
she didn't know
commitments and conferences kept her away
her future secured with a pinch of surety
like a caterpillar in a  cocoon
ready to bat its wings away
while he had his walking around aimlessly
struggling to find permanence in anything

convinced himself that he was free and footloose
but satisfaction all short-lived
mostly found late at night in rundown motels and crowded bars

it's hard to keep your eyes open
when missed opportunities close in on you
he's drowning in a sea of disappointment
or was it the liquor?

everyone calls him No-Hope and he thinks so too
but still he wouldn't let go
and be carried away in the current
like the rest of the faceless, countless No-Hopes like him
Will this pain go away if I **** myself?
Will I finally get some sleep?
Will my headache finally go away?
Will my addictions go away?
And will my hate leave me?

Will this pain go away if I **** myself?
Will there be anything for me?
Will this world miss me?
Will this world follow me?
And will death welcome me?

Will this pain go away if I **** myself?
Will there be love in my heart?
Will these meaningless trifles disappear?
Will the world ever be good?
And will my death help?

my heart rejects you like a stubborn VCR
your name sticks to my throat like it's in hot summer tar
i want to say
i miss you
i want to say
i care
but our future looks so empty as i'm grasping for some air.

we knew it wouldn't be easy as you held me that last night
but at least then i could hear your heartbeat, now i only hear your sigh.

"I'm yours forever", I once said
"I see us together", You replied

will the distance overcome our promises? will heartache leave us dry?
emotion makes a cruel companion
like our curse, our cure is time
Each time we touched back we remembered:
Sitting on the stoop and realizing this is that feeling.
A vague cloud, huge and looming
Constant.
Let's keep describing experiences as positive or negative.
Keep learning with me.
Flick, Flick, Flick
Another thought lost to the rest,
memories gone, but who cares if they are stored
in the first place
Just to be pushed out and replaced with a surge of new
Clouds of feeling.
"The world,
I toss it to the side and look at you and it doesn't matter."
While sleeping in the water,

Sea otters may hold hands to keep

From drifting apart.

Holding hands,

Minds sail somewhere between consciousness

And to a sea of thoughts and wonders.

We take to rough waters and

Tighten our grips

And then relax them.

My pale body’s dead cold,

But my hand comes to life in yours.

We stroke each other’s fingers with our own,

Each digit of yours is so smooth

Like an otters silky coat.

I study your hands

Every curve

And every bend.

Blinded by wondrous waters,

Touch will find your promised land.

As you studied me I thought,

“Don’t let me go”

Because I was drifting towards love

And I didn't want to go alone.
