Sceni(deli)c Horizons
Cain Oct 2012
Once again a still sunrise,
Quite too much to my surprise;
Now no longer the same reprise,
Never believing in fate's demise.

Once again awaits the sun,
Otherworldly; waits for none;
Terrestrial battles with wars unsung,
The time is now, and has begun.

Once waves of calamity striking the coast,
Now sinking caravels with swift riposte;
This paves the insanity to roads of most,
No graves on marvels without a host.

My ambiguous ocean, bounds not to the throes,
An effluent river asks not where it goes;
But through frigid winters it finally froze,
Yet two rigid reasons -- it once again flows.

Your guess is as mine, for nobody knows,
This mess is divine, and to us it bestows;
Thrown into disaster, yet much room for prose,
We are the ship-masters -- and everyone rows.

So set my oars down, and go for the sails,
Open your eyes, ears & mind; there is no trail;
Wandering didactic wisp you will find, futility of 'fail',
Galactic inhale, cosmic exhale, maybe then will the true path unveil.

So leave nasty mates; abandon the ship,
No mutiny required, just let the wreck tip,
As though through spread fingers they suddenly slip,
Though red feelings linger, you find your own grip.

Then leave folly habits -- straight at the shore,
Shut it & lock it, and close the **** door;
There always are options -- endless possibilities to explore,
Just activate your wings, open wide--soar.

Glad once again, for another sunset,
What you pursue is what you will get;
So forget calumet, anisette & cigarettes,
Simply don't fret -- paint vignettes with no regrets.

Parting Ways
Cain Jan 2013
Tears wept like droplets beneath a faulty pipe; for the braves
A woman stranded wondering, Is this the last goodbye?
A man stood pondering petrified, contemplating his demise
An infant unable to comprehend, yet she nonetheless cries
A captain sat perplexed, These lives are jeopardized
An ocean parting waves coupled by parting waves
The horizon sits between them as an autumn sky.

In the Clouds
Cain Oct 2012
Wayward man, opposite clouds,
There and back again, far from crowds,
Disarray, astray through grey- where he shrouds.
Vague, vigilant, vastly enigmatic,
To see from such a point of view is idiosyncratic,

Astral miles, took off from land,
Charting depths of the unmanned,
Once on shore-- 'what's beyond the sand?'
Others lost wills to explore, a journey unbland;
Demand to expand, for space is your command.

Meteors & Fissures
Cain May 2013
A meteor you are,
earthquake from hell am I
from underground so far,
to falling from the sky.

An effort made so deep,
A vision set so high,
Your sediments shall creep
'til once more we're awry.

Mutiny
Cain Jan 2013
Manning this vessel aimlessly
On open sea that beckons me.
Yet which direction do I set my sails?
According to the wind, if all else fails.
Alas, scar-clad from my ruthless ambition,
Longing to free my shackles of inhibition.
Wishful aspirations of self-deposition, yet
Auspicious sights arising on the horizon.

A Stance
Cain Jan 2013
Agnizing life presently, rather a mere reflection
Absolved pleasantly, converted cranial affection
Recreated imagery which becomes introspection
Concentric rippling raindrops, radiating perfection
Life's absorption of the senses through cosmic connection

Imagine a canvas,
Holding holistic human history
If only you could picture this.

Analyze space between your fingers
Potential paintbrush placement
The world at your fingertips.

Envisage everything between your ears (then the opposite)
Encompassing ensembles elucidating egos
The composer in all of us, seeking bliss.

Everything experienced, transcended
This convoluted canvas conducive to creativity
Reminiscent of colors brooded over one last kiss.

on war(d)
Cain Dec 2012
Projectiles piercing past years, tears and more,
All for nothing, nothing for all, but for what? What for?
Ruination of art, knowledge, wisdom: ambiguities of war.
Instilling fear, burdening bystanders- thrown asunder or ashore
The guiltless stream meanders as wings which soar.

Tyrants rampant like rebels on the range,
Hierophants justified killing for a cause,
Fuel-driven greed heeds a need for a change.
Actions bring reactions when blood meets the gauze.
Pause, hold the applause; the jaws withdraw.

For almost an hour I wait in the shower
Under a canopy of rain, steam and dew,
Something I treasure; one of life's simple pleasures,
I prepare, I revisit, move on; that's all I can do.

Warm droplets settle on the skin,
Reminiscent not of you, rather one I once knew,
Muscles dropping tension, solace within
Elation is but shattered glass, relaxation is my glue.

The water's now crisp, the sensational cold,
Inhale, breathe out, but until you step in,
How can you know, if it ever unfolds?
All to do is begin.

An Ode to the Core
Cain Jan 2013
A tempest is brewing
Beneath our soles.
Coerced many massive mountains
but sundering them not;                                      consuming them.

With eons unequaled,
With few fathoms measurable
yet measuring the unfathomable.

Unrealistic fables,
As a dragon in a cavern,
Perhaps infernal heathens...                                     ludicrous claims, yet

No soothsayer's transmutations,
No reviser's adaptations,
Nor squabbling between politicians
could surmount to the tensions amassing beneath us.

Are we at pinnacle of the world?
Only if one's ego is at True North,
Merely the surface, unfurled forth.

But as molten iron dwindles slowly outward into hardened crust
As does man's manifested quest for greed and lust

So if a monolithic magma pool ever decides to ******
Hopefully it will gather a rather miraculous gust (it must!)

Distrusting the wicked, while sparing the just
As quickly as water turns ephemeral steel to rust.
Cain Feb 2013
Feeling the need to trade this two for an eight
In exchange for a flush or even a straight,
I'd settle on sand; any hand, two pair;
but life on the river is seldom but fair

An Abstract Perspective
Cain Nov 2012
Peering through the looking glass
Prismatic dispersion in all directions,
The sights you see, the sounds I hear
are merely just reflections.

For what you perceive is what I perspire,
But what I seek may not be your desire;
And is giving to receive an honest way to inspire?
Or are they as contradictory as water and fire?

The greatest book
Cain Dec 2015
Perhaps the thesaurus?
Too prehistoric.
Maybe the dictionary...but
haven't you heard? No sound rhetoric.
I implore you to read it from toe to head
I'd rather read a vagrant mind instead.
I'll skip novels because I'm not well-versed
Hell, their devilish ways make me feel coerced
Like a willow in the desert cursing its thirst,
at first glance: feat of nature; at last, at its worst.
Ramblings aside, the greatest things left unsaid
are readily spared by pens and lead.

When dismay shifts to grey,
Congregations of dew-
though an indifference to stay
turns grey into blue.
Yet this petrichorus of raindrops
Is divine til the pain stops
