The amateur poet
I don't know how to talk
In the few minutes that we walk
In-between classes
Together.

You talk with such grace
At a troubling pace
While my mind freezes
And draws a blank

I have so much to say
But can't find the phrase,
As I get caught in your wonderful gaze
You take away my thought
You take away my words

When you look at me,
My tongue starts to twist
As I stare back in wondering bliss
At these eyes,
Deep as the ocean
Deep as a sea,
Light up as you speak,
Speaking only to me.

Thats all I can see,
Your eyes on me.

I loose track of time,
Perhaps lost in wonder
How those blue eyes of yours
Leave me longing for more.

waiting for him to ride by on his bike
Bringing with him the air of summer and grass stained clothes
We ride together, speeding through puddles
Speeding though problems like they are
but puddles- oil stained
we ride through time, without rhyme or reason
Without purpose or direction
we leave that oak tree
Together. Free.
Free.together.
A poem I wrote with my friend brinley :)

The amateur poet
Words upon words spoke in a rapid manner
I listen to him spit out physics
Intelligent, stunning, confusing, and funny
He rambles on about these numbers.

A calculation for this,
A theory for that.
It can explain everything he claims
Science,
It can always be broken down to a science.

I hold on to his every word, and just wonder what equation
Can tell me how he feels.
What does he want
What does he need?
Will he ever have an interest...an interest in me?

I don't mean to sound nerdy
I don't mean to sound cliche
But I believe there is chemistry between us
Our minds are bonding.

Sadly there is no science behind the human emotion.
So I will wait
And try to analyze this boy myself.
Research conclusion to soon follow (I hope...)

I left, I ran, and I never looked back
A home is a safe place with love and light
These demons on my arms don’t agree
My parents have gone down the Train tracks

The cold steel guided me far into realms
Into skies too blue and trees too pure
I hungered for food, but food for my frozen heart
I kept traveling down the Train tracks

I stopped at a tunnel, no light I could see
The shadows were whispering, until she appeared
The girl, eyes glimmering like tears of a goddess
Told me her tale down the Train tracks

She, like me, was almost sold to horrors
Hers scars were far worse than my demons
She so left, she ran, and she never looked back
So we traveled down the Train tracks

That night we bonded, and saw the stars fall
The wolves were hunting for blood and pride
They caved us in our tunnel, our sanctuary
And I could not see light down the Train tracks

Am I still breathing? Where is she?
“I saved you, I healed you; but you cannot go in your state”
I told the kind doctor my tale and hers.
I told him I must find her down the Train tracks

I couldn’t; she was becoming a dream, I was scared
Slipping my mind like the dew on the leaves
So sweet, so blissful, my heart was warm in her hearth
I shed my tears and they went down the Train tracks

I had a goal, to find a home
I headed to a city with lights and love
Seeking a sign, seeking a hope, of anything
Other than the things down in the Train tracks

I stopped at a bar where some rich actors were eating
One, an old man, looked me in the eye
His eyes were shimmering were confusion
As if asking himself if I went down some Train tracks

My hunger grew endless, my aching made me weak
He dropped his leftovers in a bag to my startled hands
He smiled and patted my head, walking slowly like I had
Walking slowly, as if going down his own Train tracks

I looked inside the bag, and my heart shattered
My pride was lost, my judgments now pointless
I ran and tried to chase, the rain beating down upon me
Like my heart beating down underneath the Train tracks

yeah baby you know it's the same old thing
when i'm so far and your stuck in the same swing
off-things,

yeah you wish i could hold your hand
or light you up when the dark closes in,
cuz i know you feel half empty.

when i'm killing zombies in a video game haze
and drinking beers with people all the same,

but i know how to have a good time.
just like i know you know how to rhyme...
yeah sure you do.

but not like the ring around the moon and the frost gathers like a dew
on the tip of my tongue.

but I admit you know how to make time.
I admit that your only mine.

As I walk through the streets of Newark
on this christmas' eve
I see as the mayans did
a world plunged in calamity

For I see not lovebirds walking by
nor do I see the old men waving hi
where have all these good people gone?
does anyone else see anything wrong?

The stores, not decorated festively
but one wreath perched up high
as the TV screens buzz on
about ******, ****, and genocide

Is this what has become of christmas eve?
if so I truly do not believe
that there is any value in the holiday
well at least not anymore...

and it all might as well have ended
more than 3 days ago

honestly- mayans- am I too late?
was your doomsday prediction delayed?
a prophesy that we have yet to see
about how we shall destroy ourselves

we all jumped to assume that the end
shall come from some horrid outside force
this allowed us all to just pretend
that humans don't hurt humans- of course.

While there are no children in the streets
and they fear of what may come
from the horrid acts they have seen on TV
they say to Saint Nicholas,

"You ask to know my christmas gift- and I have but one"
"please make sure those who are hurting will get some"

and just as you mayans
came to destroy yourself
is that what we
shall come to do once again?

...
or is there hope?
As I was walking through the streets of Newark NJ on christmas eve.. I saw no one on the streets, there was no hustling and bustling, no lovebirds walking by, no kids , no new mothers with their babies..and the streets weren't decorated at all... The tvs were left on, and not a single good thing was shown... it truly caused me to think about how lucky I am and how much christmas has changed since I was a kid
