The way I keep flowing in slow motion
got em hoping what I'm floatin
is a certain kind of motion
of the perpetual style
They say its dope but its not
its just something i use to cope
i think this sugar pill's been coated
in something i ain't had in a while
now my eyes are gettin hazy
i'm startin to feel a bit faded
these lights are bright and people are screamin
i've got a feeling
that they're wanting something from me
something to call stunning
something to call touching
but even if these words that i'm spitting
are really ugly
these two shining behind me make it lovely
then the room falls hushed
its like someone dimmed the lights
suddenly, i'm alone on the stage
me and the mic
trying to convey what i write
into speech tonight there's a
slight chill in the air
but the moon shines bright
it gives me power
helps me make sure that i rock right
excuse me, step correct
we clean up the mess and
wasted sets from the
players who came before us
that we left for dead
its like the wild wild west
though were on the east coast
you're rockin with host with the most
you didn't know?
i've got itch in my throat
but the fans won't even know
how could they?
listen to them, man
they think its dope
I know you're all waiting
to keep hearing me gloat
but gimme a sec, wont you just
let me clear my throat

(A capella)
The room's gettin kinda crowded
I think they heard our sound check
I can seem them craning their necks to see who's next
they want a set that wrecks
were happy to provide, come on
step inside the light we'll take you for a ride
and we're smiling like we're on trial for our lives
it's a good day to die
but tonight we feel alive

(FUNKY ****)

and it's wild how they've got us chasing fires
through the night
in the absence of light
with music, we search for sight
they're reaching for the supreme dream
the currency, the cream
but we resisted the feeling
and we rage against machines
and we blow off ceilings
"Lil c" and the Tree and me, we three
teach with beats and melodies
and bass lines we shine our light
for those who are blinded
and we raise our voices
for those who stay silent
dying to live so
to live we're dying
but to be honest
most of these faces are two-sided
it's the pride inside that won't let me hide my shine
trying to find a sound in this town i can call mine
but i'm feeling fine, waiting for my time
just walking the line in the sunshine
chasing a feline, this a summertime rhyme
but i'm ducking rainy days
like Cassius Clay
Stinging like Ali, laying waste in this place today
fade away?
heck, we haven't begun to blaze today
but maybe today's the day to light up the stage
let me see, Tree can these people hear you slay

(FUNKY BASS ****)

but just remember, there'll always be Haters in every pack
they'd stab you in the back
soon as they'd help you off the tracks
whatever helps them stack faster, or
puts their name on the plaque (map)
but we'll be rockin
til this all fades into black
with bass...(FUNKY BASS ****), and drums...(FUNKY DRUM ****)
and a kid on a mic
(ALL THREE)
we designed this curtain call
for ya'll, we hope you like it
(JUST ME)
now listen to this beat hit just right
to-nite

Fighting for Freedom
Not my freedom
mine is not the
ludicrous "Freedom" you all worship
Not the steroid enhanced
the technologically advanced
the impressively entrancing
Spiteful, Ignorant
all-knowing, all-hating "Freedom"
that empowers you all to fear
anything different. The "Freedom"
that entitles you all to
subdue or eliminate everything
"not you",
Rather,
Anyone seen as a threat to
the mind-numbing culture
created by your "Freedom"

What Freedom?

I can see pink
lights dance on peaks
I can smell from miles away
In the cold shadow
of our mountain
Waiting for the day to start

The quiet surrounds
Body and Soul
except for the whistling trees
the bending and finally breaking brush
the sliding rocks:
The Earth plays
tricks on your feet

Boys throw rocks
because the silence frightens
but I sit still
listening to the sun
and watching the shadow grow shorter

Feeling our mountain grow taller.

A new page
A new line
A new rhyme
to quiet the rage

Subdue the disbelief
with federal rations
lose all Passion
forget relief

This is the new life
we are trained to live
bred to submit
to the all-knowing device

From the table in the corner
if the light is right
and the pen will right
then the hands might fight
with righteous might
while our fires light the night
but it's only a second of spite
Then it's over.

You timid hunters,
Wander lost,
Won't
ever
hunt like me.
Armed with paper bow
and lead arrow, stalking
the silent
beast of eloquence

Nocturnal,
she prefers dismal
moonless nights
rain
to wash away
the clouds in the eyes.
She is fickle. More
clever than me, more
clever than you.

But I know her
well
and she knows me

through the night I venture
having slept away
terrors of day,
I see a spot of moon fall
bathing in
soft milky white
the one
true,
the majestic

With steady hand
I drive
my point
through Her heart

Make Her Mine
Trap Her soul
on white pages
in black ink

In my yard
all alone, I'll read the page
once,
just once, smoking
a stick
and set fire
to it,
having saved her from
traps and snares of
lesser poets...
Having saved her from
corrupting eyes of
lesser humans...

I finish the stick
imagine myself
smoke in the night

The wind runs fast
through the young winter night
Between the many houses
Down the many streets

And I watch
as the family I don't belong to
dresses a fake pine tree
with bright lights and shiny memories

I hear ice cube bouncing
in white Russian glasses
They throw sharp words and
laugh maniacllly at the lacerations they leave
The words get sharper
The ice gets louder
As the tree gets heavier

The old dog lies on the rug
seeming oblivious to it all
He is blind and deaf
And
Still
almost corpse-like except for the haggard breath
the haggard breath
the rising and falling
of the small weak chest
and the clicking of ice cubes on a
windy winter night.

He is living the good life.
