the rolling hills that stretched further than the eye can see
hugged and engulfed by the thin wispy clouds
the birds sing as the cow graze
somewhere in the forest a tree branch snaps
there's a subtle breeze with a slight chill
just enough to send shivers down my spine

It feels as if it only gets darker,
the waves seem to rise higher and higher.
As she continues to race out and away from the storm,
she turns back to attack all of them once more.

However her body weakens by day,
trying to keep all her demons away.
Pushing and shoving she runs out the door,
but she falls flat all once more.

Just when she thinks she’s gotten away,
she feels the cold presence of him pulling her astray.
The look of terror on the sky’s face,
tells her she’s no longer in God’s grace.
The fear of letting those down,
circles and crowds her most when she frowns.

But one light seems to shine upon her,
filling her with strength but continues to taunt her.
Her body gets lighter as he builds his army,
slaying her monsters so they no longer harm me.
She screams and shouts and is finally heard,
the struggles of the past she no longer endures.

She gives faith into his unrecognizable stature,
as he led her through a war worth fighting after.
His touch of hand brings warmth to her thoughts,
she is now okay and no longer has to plot.

slowly slipping away
purposely loosening my grasp
realizing I’m alone in a world of so many
no longer trying to stay afloat
my body just keeps sinking
until the light fades to the blackness I’m too familiar with

slowly slipping away
purposely loosening my grasp
slowly losing the feeling of what I’ve had before
the pain of the cold breeze scrapes my body
being told to hold on
they’re all fighting for me
with the fall of my tear, they’ve all disappeared
but they were never really there
and I was never really there
