everyone's dying and all I can do is scream at the top of my lungs and wait for the bathroom light to burn out so we can use up all the extras we bought for the apocalypse that's never going to happen

and we smoke too many cigarettes in the house and everything is kind of yellow and you can't see yourself in the mirror proper but the stains on the couch and the carpet and the bed sheets seem to do the trick just as well

and we stay up too late and see more of the moon than the sun but we talk about our dreams like it hasn't been six months since we last saw a sunrise

and the floor is made of dust and ash but we never fall through when the blinds are closed and you carve the notches in the bedpost too deep and the bed collapses beneath us again

and the traffic never stops and the snow never melts cause it's always cold here but we burn the newspapers and our old science textbooks to keep warm and I couldn't even tell you what month it is now

but this morning I opened my eyes and read what the walls have been writing for months and we climbed up on ladders and smashed the ceiling.

we made a skylight and watched the sun rise

what can i say,
that hasn't already been said?
in the epic stories
in the love poems recited
too many times.

i could try to make up
lines saying how you
make me feel

but i can't.
because, words cannot
describe it.
words cannot describe how
fast my heart races.
words cannot describe how
what your lips feel like.
words cannot describe how
your eyes paralyze me.
words cannot describe

how perfect you are.

i tried
in this silly poem
still, it does you no justice

i will keep trying
thinking of words that describe
your beauty

there are so many words in the dictionary.

but none describe you

I've something to tell you,
but no idea how to say it.
Especially when I'm not even
completely sure what "it" is.
My first thought was a painting
(a picture's worth a thousand words, you know)
but I quickly learned that
not even a thousand was enough.
I wasn't quite able to convey
simply through brush strokes
the feeling in the pit of my stomach
(like a dropping rollercoaster,
but much more thrilling)
whenever you smile at me.
Just a few pencil marks
couldn't ever communicate
the fireworks that ignite
as soon as our fingers touch.
And I've heard other people
try to explain in only words
the way this feels
(the closest we've gotten are the letters l-o-v-e)
but I'm not sure if even
the world's greatest poets
would be able to accurately portray this—
let alone me, with my little notebook
and my twelve-cent ballpoint pen.
But I need you to know
that even if I can't describe it to you,
there's something about 'us'
that makes me happier than I've ever been.

there is no way to describe
            your beauty
i agree that sounds corny, it does

                 b u t

how am i to explain to people

                      how your skin feels?

    the texture of your hair?

            the shadows under your jawline?

                              the gentle,
            loving look of your eyes?

in one poem?

there is no way
no way that people can imagine it perfect
                                                because you're perfect

and this poem shows none of your beauty

It’s the way colors would taste if you could eat them. White would taste of contentment, yellow of happiness, purple of infatuation, red of passion, and pink would taste of endearment. Pick your poison; they’ll all be the death of you in the end.
It’s the way it smells when it first begins to rain. Its aroma lingers like vanilla, fresh linen, or an open flame that’s sparks kiss your fingertips. It clings to your clothes and in your hair to be smelled by others around you. To some, this scent may be too strong.
It sounds like complete silence amidst a roaring thunder. It’s at a frequency only you can hear and comprehend. It’s a ringing in your ears that leaves them throbbing or the echo of voices when you’re submerged in water --- starting loud and progressively fading away with the sunlight that rests on the water’s horizon.
It’s the way butterfly kisses feel, faintly tickling your cheeks when they’re damp with fresh tears. Or the way your body shudders at the touch of a cold hand and your temperature elevates, leaving a numbness where fingers traced over your skin.
It’s the way a sea of grass looks when you’re crawling on your hands and knees. It’s the sight of two hands clasped with fingers intertwined. It’s what causes your eyes to widen when you see the expression that lingers on her face when she thinks you’re not looking. The look that says all that can’t be spoken with words.
It’s all the power that lies within that four letter, one syllable word. The word that redefines every one of your five senses. ..
Love.
Love may be like a lot of things, but it’s not like falling. I never fully understood the expression “falling in love” --- probably because it isn’t accurate, and doesn’t make sense. Falling is what people do on a daily basis --- love is when someone catches you.

soul in torment
Use my shoulder as your pillow
let my body be your bed
let me be your warmth and comfort
when the laughter's all but dead

Let my arms always enfold you
let them be the words unsaid
when all you need is endless silence
and a place to lay your head

Let my kisses be the lyrics
to your heart's unsteady beat
as your breathing breaks the silence
and yet makes us both complete

Let my love be as the curtains
that keep others from looking on
as we count the blessings offered
and regrets now dead and gone

Let my need of you be noted
in the margins of my eyes
where you pencilled in your beauty
and underlined it with your sighs

Let my want be always wanting
let your presence ner' sedate
as you paint yourself upon me
as both sinner and a saint

Let the scars that others gave you
be the gifts I take away
as I offer up my body
as the prayers you never say

Let me be the one you run to
when you've no where else to run
and I'll  hide you from yourself dear
till your cryings all but done

Let my concern be the bindings
on our lives as books unread
where the foreword says I love you
and the titles enough said.
No idea just wanted writing

Audre Lorde
If you come as softly
As the wind within the trees
You may hear what I hear
See what sorrow sees.

If you come as lightly
As threading dew
I will take you gladly
Nor ask more of you.

You may sit beside me
Silent as a breath
Only those who stay dead
Shall remember death.

And if you come I will be silent
Nor speak harsh words to you.
I will not ask you why now.
Or how, or what you do.

We shall sit here, softly
Beneath two different years
And the rich between us
Shall drink our tears.

Sebastian
She was pretty.
Scratch that.
She was beautiful.
Scratch that too.

She was more beautiful,
Than a sunrise on a winter morning.
Or a rainfall on an autumn day
Where the leaves dance in the wind
And fill the sky with life.
More beautiful than a flower
That breaks through the cracks
Of a concrete garden
And brings color to the air.
She was more beautiful,
Than any poem that's ever been written.

She was beautiful.
Scratch that.
She still is.
