a tincture of hesitation
on these fingertips;

they sway across the white-
a stilted, jagged motion.

leaving prints
in strange places
an odd cohesion of
dots and lines and smudges

they paint a face
that I have yet to come to love.

a depiction of submission
mirrored image of distress

washed down with showers of guilt.

the path narrows
an array of shadows;
beckoning silence
the hidden shortcut.
tentatively I
finger my way in
my skin fit the cracks perfectly
as if I was there all along.
the walls,
like bones
that snap too easily.
it reminds me
of something lost
of a feeling retrieved
the lapse of a lapse
when the tunnel ends.

awake and afloat
she moves through the air in silence
like a lone feather
like a ripple.

the clouds are kind
into their enveloping arms
she melts away.

soft and sweet
like a faraway peal
but it leaves behind
a hollow echo.

well, I walked through the days
with a song in my head
walked through walls
wove through many strange crowds,
apparently invisible.

hummed incoherence
and feigned ignorance
they didn't know what I was doing
I didn't either.

slow blinking thoughts
echo like lost dreams
and fade like the past,
a painfully sweet process.

sometimes I wake up
to feel the breeze upon my skin
a gentle reminder of sentience,
of things I should be heeding.

oh, but it’s a lovely sin
to plunge to the seabed
to disconnect so graciously
and cry myself to sleep.

it'll be alright
this has happened before
this is all too familiar

some erstwhile scenes
and evanescent glossolalia
ricochet my darkest sphere
that clandestine evil haven

you chose to stay
yes, you're still here, i think
i noticed your face in the holes
my skin recorded your finger prints

maybe one day i'll learn to throw them out
one day, i just might

oh, it's gonna be okay
it's gonna be okay
