Football
BIGriel Aug 2014
the ground is rumbling
the crowd is cheering
as the hardworking players
tear up the field

as he swerved around the opponent
every roulette, every fake
every slightest touch
is a sparkle in the night

it's amazing how this simple game
so fun and so enchanting
yet so emotional
has taken over our lives

football isn't just a game
it is a lifestyle

The ziti cure
BIGriel Sep 2014
This delicious dish!
So full of wonder and taste.
Layers of sauce, cheese, onions
with grounded beef and penne.

A stroll by the kitchen
is a heavenly moment.
The smell of it baking,
Oh, the anticipation swells within me!

One long sniff
can inspire great dreams,
and one bite,
can cure the misery
of a cold dreary day.

double rainbow
BIGriel Jul 2014
There is one moment
That almost everyone experiences,
The moment that you know will happen
But you don't want it to

When a vacation has to end,
When you leave some of your family members
That you know you won't see for a while
And when the endless of fun has to end.

I myself love vacations
And hate having to leave
a life of leisure and relaxation
But vacations always end.

I've noticed that whenever I leave
A place of wonder and of fun
The weather is never the same
As it was during my voyage.

In fact it's rather dark and cloudy.
As It begins to rain
And the streets are quiet
As we drive away.

But on a recent trip
A trip that was so fun
Time seemed to go slower
Something different occurred.

As we were driving away
And the clouds swormed the sky
Eclipsing the sun
A beautiful sight of color appeared

A double rainbow
As bright as I've ever seen
Arching through the sky
And over the mountains.

The end of a good time
Doesn't have to be dark
Nor cloudy nor rainy
In fact it can be just the opposite

I think the weather responds to our emotions
Just as we respond to it
And the double rainbow
Symbolizes it exactly

True Love?...maybe
BIGriel Aug 2014
what is true love?
someone once told me
that love doesn't exist
until you've reached the age of 60

I dated a girl with mental problems
and had a lot of expectations
and she somehow expected
that I could deal with it.

Her attitude was inconsistent
she was happy at first
and sad the next
but always told me it was because of stress

but I could say this
despite all the problems
despite all the stress
she is the first girl I felt love for

but a strange feeling occurred
as our relationship ended
I had feelings for another
and i start to wonder

am I in love with this girl
who I've known for two years
who I've helped through tough times
who I've never gotten sick of?

someone once told me
that love doesn't exist
until you've reached the age of 60

so is what Im feeling true love,

maybe for a 14 year old.

Summer feeling
BIGriel Jun 2014
Three months of absolute fun
is what every kid looks forward to.
living memories under the sun
always having something to do

But summer comes with its disanvantages
as it swoops up your friends into voyages,
leaving you with nothing to do,
and all your friends are gone too.

But there is always one friend
who is always available
able to free you from the shackles
that bind you to your home.

The feeling I get as I rush outside,
the breeze I feel rubbing against my skin,
the smell of fresh air rushing up my nostrils,
the bright summer rays bouncing off me.

That feeling I get once I'm outside
is a true summer feeling.
no matter the season, if you feel what I feel
as you rush outside, that is a summer feeling .

It was a beautiful day.

The sun was shining up in the bright blue sky.
As I listened to Mati talk about her day,
her ideas, her new school, I couldn't stop
noticing peoples  faces bright and happy.

Whether it was a husband  happy to meet
his wife for his anniversary dinner, or  a
child excited to get that new toy he was
asking for.

A typical summer day, but
brighter than ever. As we arrived at the
red line train stop, I said goodbye to mati
and started to head home.

Half way down the route I was heading
to go home, I felt thirsty. I had decided to
travel through Oz park to get a drink from
the water fountain, and that is when I
noticed a change of scenery.

As I looked at the playground and the
children playing I noticed their shadows
had disappeared. I look around and  it
was getting darker. I pull out my phone
and look at the time. 5:30.

Tony had said towards 6 it would start raining.
I still had 30 minutes to spare. I took another
quick sip and walked down the path leading to
Howe St. I look at the tennis games and the
baseball game and suddenly my heart stops
for a couple seconds.

A sound, like someone trying to turn on a lighter,
that flick sound, I heard it. And then KABOOM!!
a bolt of lightning travels through the air,
the sound waves traveling heavy and strong
through my ears.

I stand there thinking quickly as my mind
processes the situation. I watch in slow
motion the players on the baseball field
running away.

Same goes for the tennis players.
My eyes slowly move up and fix themselves
on the pink sky on the horizon and then,
just as slow, they look up and see a dark cloud
with eyes beaming at me,  paralyzing me.

As I regain my senses, I put my hood on,
and continue to walk. And to think that all
the emotions I felt, all the adreneline building
inside of me, I felt in just seconds.

A morning routine
BIGriel Jun 2014
Today was another beautiful day.
I don't mean in the form of a bright
blue sky with the sun shining, in fact it
was rather fogy most of the time.

I mean the time I spent with my friends was fun
and exciting. We do, jonathon , Kevin and I
our usual routine meeting up at Newberry
to play soccer and football.

To make  it more fun we do trick shots but today
I really looked forward to hanging out
with them for one big particular reason,
and that is the fact that I skipped my morning run.

Johnathon and Kevin are extremely active
which means we play sports usually everytime
we hang out. After I skipped my run, I felt bad
because I give myself something to do but I just
don't feel like doing it.

Running feels mandotory, and  that is a
terrible feeling to have. But after I started
to play with Johnathon and Kevin  it felt good.
I was getting lots of exercise and I was working a sweat.

I come to realize that I love that feeling
to be out of the house, hanging out with friends
and playing sports with them. It makes exercising
so much more fun that I now do it everyday.

Though I think to myself right now that I need to run tomorrow
morning, I think to myself as well that if I just can't then
I'll just have to play extra hard today with the boys. And
the best part is, I do play extra hard and it feels good.

School is important
BIGriel Aug 2014
School is important

As children
we overlook important things
that may seem crazy
but is in fact the truth

As children
we see school as a prison
we see school as torture
we see it as a place of endless work

But as children
we overlook the more important aspects
it's not just a jail cell
but in fact an open world

School is gives a chance
to socialize
to make new relations
and not just memorize facts

The relationships you make
the friends you make
all the bonds you create
shape who and what you are

Homeing Out
BIGriel Apr 2014
"Home is where I wanna be,
but I guess I'm already there."*

At least that 'Talking Heads' song says so.

Do four walls make a home?
Can I have two roomies and still feel alone?

I don't know if that's so or if I'm even clear.
But I sure as hell I wanna get outta here!
