Like the sunlight forcing its way through a cloudy screen,

and the thunder breaking all silence and serene,

a lotus glowing with its aura in a black swamp,

horses that run free on escaping from men's camps,

a butterfly struggling to break its cocoon,

a lion hunting in the feeble light of the moon,

a wounded tigress defending her cubs and enduring all pain,

the birds slowly reaching their nests in the treacherous rain,

nature shows us the path to follow,

how to deal with life when it seems hollow,

make a stand for what you believe in,

stand up for it, never to cave in,

struggle is the beauty of life,

seeing someone break the limits of mind and body is a lovely sight,

when you can expand boundlessly do you feel free,

when you can write a poem without a topic do you feel free...
I think I saw the moon tonight
Ivory, aglow
Alive and bright, reflecting light
Shone through my open window

I think I felt the moon tonight
With my fingertips just so
I brushed against her dusty cheek
And whispered a meek “Hello”

I think I heard the moon tonight
Voice lighter than a feather
She shared the folklore of the faeries
Who danced amongst the heather

I traveled with the moon tonight
From Berkley to Milan
She showed me the most gorgeous sights
Beyond imagination

I danced around the moon tonight
To melodies of yore
I felt so happy and carefree
I hadn’t heretofore.

I slept upon the moon tonight
She lulled me to a sopor
She lay me back in my warm bed
And tucked me in the covers.
Your genius, your demons
They are one in the same
Your genius, your demons
They drive you insane

Your genius, a bulb
That shines bright in your mind
Your demons, a cross
That ignites when you die

A bulb that may shatter
And scatter your thoughts
A cross that may splinter
And leave your hopes lost

Your genius, a demon
That’s dragging you down
Your demons, a genius
That’s up in the clouds

A demon, that’s witty
He’s clever and quick
A genius, that’s frail
He’s shrouded in mist

Your genius, your demons
They are one in the same
Your genius, your demons
They drive you insane
Baby, I can’t help it.
You make me wanna smile.
You make me wanna crawl into
your world a little while.

But all that’s just a memory,
some papers in my drawer,
some playlists and some post it notes
all scattered on the floor.

My eyes are awry,
My nose too large,
My teeth are all crooked,
My back unnaturally arched,
My hips are wide,
My love handles are many,
My feet appear calloused,
My nails are all chewed.

Each characteristic,
An imperfect fragment,
A part of the complex puzzle,
That is,
A,
Perfect me.
You are the one I
Think
of when I
Think
of the one I would like to
Think
of me as I
Think
of you.

I flew with you when you left ground, abandoning my soul and
fragments of my sanity.
You make me want to soar, you do.
Arms spread like Easter Wings, flying best in vanity.
Your will to be a stoic God burns true.
On these clouds you perch, preaching your calamity,
Yet, I bid you fall
                                   collide
                                               recall
                                                               reside
with me,
on the ground once more.
To be merely a man, in spite of sought after sanctity.
Here's to last night
and all the nights to come,
when we stay up
laughing through the fear.

The fear of final exams,
of essays and projects
hovering above us
like a cloud ready to pour.

Here's to making memories
at a table in the library,
caffeine in our veins,
all to get those grades.

But we all know what
really happens those nights,
when our studying could
be done in an hour.

But we mix it all up
with time wasting activities,
our giddy faces
magnified in each other's eyes.

Here's to the nights
when we don't really study,
because that's what we'll remember
when it's all said and done.
