Charred & broken, left for dead;
hidden, lost, the mantle shed;

Anger, pain, the feelings raw;
racing, dazed, the mind unsure;

Locked, enclosed, the ancient lair;
open, set, the fatal snare;

Tempted, blind, the greed is all;
trapped, alone, the echoes call;

Empty, drained, the body dry;
finished, gone, no tears to cry.

I crank it up to keep them down,
A smile to hide my secret frown,

Through searing pain and blinding light,
These shadows reign unholy might,

My body lost to dark control,
They feast upon my very soul,

I crank it up and turn the key,
This smile is all there is of me,

The music stops, the volume fades,
Control complete, my mind degrades,

My life a shrouded crimson haze,
Descending through my final days.

Angels high above the earth,
gave to you this gift at birth,
a gift to sing like those above,
a voice that brings both joy and love,

Each time i hear your wondrous voice,
my heart and soul, they do rejoice,
you bring me up when i am down,
you make me smile each time i frown,

your music is my guiding light,
my guardian in the darkened night,
a burning torch within the dark,
upon each quest that i embark,

lost, without your voice, i'd be,
it means so very much to me,
your talent is by no means small,
you are a gift from god, to all,

an angel's voice is seldom found,
but with such voice, you have been crowned,
please stay with us and sing your song,
forever would not be too long.

Glittered gold, angelic light,
glimmers through the darkest night,
guiding those who feel its might,
down the path of hope and right.

Silver haze, a cloudy mist,
enclosed within a mortal kist,
confusing those who cannot see,
the ways of peace and destiny.

Warm embrace, a sacred hold,
encased against demonic cold,
saving those who know its name,
from that dark eternal shame.

Shadow cast, unholy cloud,
appears to all a deathly shroud,
calling those who must repent,
and save their souls from dark descent.

as evenings pass and memories fade,
as light is swallowed by the shade,
as hope gives way to emptyness,
as life gives up all thoughts of bliss,
as pain takes hold upon the soul,
as fear consumes and takes control,
as dark enslaves the love and light,
as life gives up the final fight.

Lost in the music,
Lost in the feeling,
Lost on the path and finding no meaning,

Show me a sign,
Show me a light,
Show me a way with the ending in sight.

Gone from this place,
Gone from these lands,
Gone from the pain and the blood on my hands,

Safe in the memory,
Safe now it seems,
Safe from myself in the world of my dreams.

Broken hearts before our birth,
Damaged souls that walked the Earth,
Joined as if by simple chance,
Healed as one in life's strange dance,

Pain and loss have stormed our keep,
Grief and anger scarred us deep,
Yet still we stand as one today,
No force could take our bond away.

The worst may still be yet to come,
And all we have may come undone,
But one thing stands forever true,
My heart and soul belong to you.

Snow and ice nowhere in sight,
A rainy night can't keep us down,
With fires warming heart and hearth,
We have no cause to sulk or frown.

Gifts and food to share galore,
A festive song to set the tone,
With joy and laughter all around,
Lost in the love that we have known.

Hope and promise fill the air,
A healing moon to light the sky,
With dreams and plans for days ahead,
The future waits for you and I.

these demons paint with ancient art,
deception on my aching heart,

a hell hound circles in my mind,
her howling call alerts her kind,

while serpents serve their evil needs,
with thoughts of dark and sordid deeds,

a phoenix flies and burns away,
as life is torn and left to fray,

though gods look down upon my heart,
they quickly turn and soon depart,

their angels fall and sadly weep,
my soul, this hell will surely keep.

Walk within the shadows that are calling to your soul,
Give yourself to darkness and surrender all control,
Let the spirits bathe you in the love that night can bring,
Free yourself from conflict and just let your black heart sing.

Walk within the shadows that have ever been with you,
Listen to their whispers and remember every clue,
Understand each secret and the path ahead will clear,
Trust your sacred family to conquer all you fear.

Walk within the shadows that once followed in your wake,
Feel much closer to them with each catching breath you take,
Find the peace and comfort that you never thought could be,
Stay here in the darkness where no one but us can see.

When I'm far- I'm still quite near,
always there to calm your fear,
linking arms and courage shared,
always there each time you're scared.

When I'm out- I'm still about,
always there to ease your doubt,
keeping close and giving hope,
always there to help you cope.

When I'm gone- I'm still with you,
always there right next to you,
holding hands and hearts entwined,
always there for you to find.

Don’t despair or miss me,
Do not shed a tear,
My love for you is still here,
To keep you safe from fear.

Our journey has not ended,
For I am still with you,
Forever more beside you,
To share in all you do.

Don’t feel that you have lost me,
Do not weep or frown,
My heart won’t let you feel down,
It will not let you drown.

Our story is not over,
This chapter just begun,
The pages so far from done,
As you walk with the sun.

Don’t forget the good times,
Do not let sadness show,
My soul shares all that you know,
And follows where you’ll go.

Our lives are never finished,
The memories live on,
To share the light we have shone,
Even when I am gone.

We stare into the mirror for minutes at a time,
Forever taking selfies like photos of a crime,
But are we narcissistic or reflecting on the past?
Lost in our perceived beauty or the shadows that we’ve cast?

We chronicle our lives online each minute of each day,
Forever sharing memories in everything we say,
But are we self-obsessing or proving we were here?
Slaves to boasts and bragging or running from our fear?

We hoard and gather artefacts and show them off with pride,
Forever needing more space so that nothing has to hide,
But are we materialistic or expressing who we are?
Desperate for attention or just covering a scar?

a man seeks out his destiny,
in hope that he is meant to be,

searching for a sign of god,
a path on which the angels trod,

with signs aplenty all around,
man sees naught but sky and ground,

faith it seems is lost to most,
no sight of father, son, or ghost,

yet faith is more than what we see,
and hope means more than you or me,

for man is lost without belief,
and life will give no quick relief.

Don’t swear at that reflection of the clouds upon your screen,
That burst of light from high above obscuring what has been,
You do not need to know what everyone has done or seen,
Nor do you need to follow where the crowd might go or lean.

Don’t dwell on flawless selfies or the posts of yesteryear,
The past can be forgotten without cause for doubt or fear,
You are more than the sum of every shared smile or tear,
More than the likes and comments of those strangers you hold dear.

Don’t live within the memory of a plastic-coated dream,
That manufactured happiness worth less than it may seem,
You have a brighter purpose than your state of mind might gleam,
A chance to change your future if you let the light redeem.

Don’t spend another minute on a pixelated lie,
The truth is just above you in the azure coated sky,
You only have this moment to live before you die,
So step away from all that’s fake and give real life a try.

Through this cold eternal dark,
my soul cries for the angel's spark,
yet to the skies the gods embark,
and leave me thus- a man-like shark.

Destroying those i hold too near,
i eat through love and feed on fear,
i cannot feel nor shed a tear,
nor plead to those that left me here.

Now in my deeds i do no right,
and in my arms i feel no fight,
as through my eyes i see no light,
and in my heart lies no respite.

A tear for you, my distant friend,
The bond we share will never end,
One day, I know, we'll meet again,
Although I know not how or when.

A tear for you, my long-lost kin,
The years have left us in a spin,
One day, I know, we'll share our days,
And watch the sunset's fading rays.

A tear for you, my loving friend,
The pain we've felt will one day mend,
One day, I know, we'll reunite,
For this I pray with all my might.

One last smile before we part,
One last kiss right from the heart,

One last look into your soul,
One last chance to lose control,

One last time before I go,
One last word and then you'll know,

One last glance toward the sky,
One last wave to say goodbye.

I've walked alone on this old dirt road,
Far from my hopes & the dreams that I've sold,
To find a place that I can call my home,
Far from the lies that I have been told.

I've walked a line that no one else could,
Far from the eyes that watch all I do,
To find a realm removed from this world,
Far from the life that was me and you.

I've walked for miles on this old dirt road,
Far from the hate & the fighting of old,
To find a dream that I pray to keep,
Far from the bed that you left so cold.

I've walked for days just searching for me,
Far from the smiles & those tears cried in vain,
To find a heart that I can trade for mine,
Far from your words and the grip of your pain.

I've walked this life to the beat of my heart,
Far from the secrets and horrors I've seen,
To find a moment of peace in the light,
Far from the darkness of all that has been.

I've walked this way to the end of my days,
Far from the people that think my soul strange,
To find a way back to where hope was lost,
Far from the thoughts of a world I can't change

Falling from life's final rung,
water fills each aching lung,

Drowning in the sea of time,
torrid past prevents my climb,

Sinking to the depths of hate,
anger's shroud will not sedate,

Set adrift in hopelessness,
starved of air and heaven's bliss,

Darkness fills my mind with dread,
trapped within this loathsome bed,

Heartless shell my deeds reveal,
never more life's warmth to feel.

Ripping, scratching, breaking out;
Dismembered, left no will to shout.

Scraping, tearing, wrenching free;
A hollow shell resembling me.

Gnawing, gouging, piercing through;
No will to fight, nothing to do.

Flapping, floating, drifting past;
No fear remains, no pain at last.

This rage that burns beneath my skin,

This force beyond my heart’s control,
This scar upon my tattered soul.

Life is but a river- ever flowing on its course,
Surging ever forward further from its humble source.

Hope is our great vessel- the best ship that we can sail,
Taking us along our quest to find our holy grail.

Faith is the horizon- ever just beyond our reach,
Promising a new world full of answers we beseech.

Luck is simply tidal- ever changing with the flow,
Rising up and falling back much sooner than we'd know.

Love is our last lifeboat- ever there when times are rough,
Saving us from drowning when at last we've fought enough.

From your grip, the key must fall,
the gate now locked, and standing tall,
though in your heart, you hear the call,
you cannot walk or run or crawl.

To this cage, your will must bend,
in your heart, a hole to mend,
to the void, your love to send,
all alone, your soul to fend.

In your mind, the memories glossed,
in your stride, no distance crossed,
left alone, a freedom cost,
in the end, all hope is lost.

this love is like a burning flame,
a feeling of eternal pain,

a fire deep beneath my skin,
reminding me of this great sin,

I see the world with jaded eyes,
a curtain drawn across the skies,

I feel the wind rush through the trees,
as guilt now brings me to my knees,

forbidden love, as like the fruit,
has taken me, my life now moot.

My freedom taken from my hands,
redemption lost in time's great sands.

Though sunshine floats above her head and warms her loving kin,
this cold chill ever stays with her deep down beneath her skin,
their smiles and cheerful laughter seem beyond her mortal reach,
this darkness eating at her heart has harsher things to teach.

Though fate has often kept her from the hardships of her kind,
her path has long been plagued by tears for those she left behind,
the love she’s felt is transient and changes with the tide,
this fear however stays with her forever at her side.

Though stars have tried to light her way through all those lonely times,
the shadows still call out to her and panic ever climbs,
these thoughts are always present keeping her in their control,
this sorrow ever fills her mind and drains her weary soul.
Arik Fletcher Feb 2015
My days are spent with you in mind,
Each night spent here with you,
I still feel like a teenager,
The love we share like new.

My heart still beats in time with yours,
In case you didn't know,
I still can feel you next to me,
No matter where I go.

My life was meant to be with you,
To share this winding road,
I still know we have miles to go,
But your love halves the load.

My eyes reflect the love in yours,
Each scar and secret known,
I still feel just as close to you,
Because of how we've grown.

My love could never stray too far,
Our bond is just too strong,
I still will keep each oath to you,
Through all I might do wrong.

My soul is still entwined with yours,
Together joined as one,
I still can feel the fires burn,
Our passion like the Sun.

My arms will ever hold you close,
Despite what comes our way,
I still want to be here with you,
Until my dying day.

From the light each one rebelled,
To the dark each gave their soul,
Shadows of the forms they held,
In this endless night's patrol.

From the light each one was sent,
Through the dark they made their way,
Cursed beasts beyond repent,
Craving for the break of day.

From the light each one was cast,
In the dark they made their home,
Far from their once noble past,
Ever more the night to roam.

He stands in cold reflection,
a statue in the night,
his life naught but deception,
with no escape in sight.

He has no moral compass,
no inner voice to guide,
his heart knows only darkness,
there is no love inside.

He feels the shadows calling,
each whisper soft and sweet,
his body slowly falling,
just dust beneath their feet.

Love once lost is ever lost,
to one who loves with all his heart,
when true love bears the final cost,
and love once found is torn apart.

Love is lost and never found,
to one who never knows it’s worth,
sorrowed tears a hollow sound,
in love there is no last re-birth,

Love is cold and without hope,
when all is lost and lovers part,
hearts when split can never cope,
without love, life must depart.

We spend our days in motion,
Lost in a haze of chores,
    Forever racing forward,
    Just counting up the scores.

    We count down every moment,
    Like time is running out,
    Forever surging forward,
    No time for any doubt.

We know our days are numbered,
    Life won’t hold the attack
    Forever facing forward,
    There is no turning back.

    We hoard each precious second,
    Long hoping for a break,
    Forever marching forward,
With each new step we take.

These voices deep within my mind,
Hide treasure that no map can find,
A secret quest my heart must seek,
In silent words their voices speak.

This guiding light upon my soul,
Reveals a life in their control,
A chain that lets me think I'm free,
So far from where I want to be.

These hands that keep my heart at bay,
Protect it from attempts to stray,
These claws that tear my flesh away,
Remind me of their hold each day.

Don’t despair, my saddened friend,
This place is not where you will end,
For life will bring all you desire,
Once you’ve learnt all you require,

Don’t desert, my loyal friend,
This world is not yours to defend,
For life will make its peace with you,
Once you take pride in what you do,

Don’t regret, my lonely friend,
There is no break that cannot mend,
For life will send someone your way,
Once you’ve found the words to say.

There was a brighter time before,
A light that shone from sea to shore,
Two pairs of hands entwined in love,
Two souls made one by gods above.

The years could have been much kinder,
We've not needed a reminder,
Two faces looking in the mirror,
Two souls joined through thick and thinner.

Our hearts may still be broken,
Yet love has been awoken,
So we'll walk this road together,
From now until forever.

There was a darker time back then,
A night we thought might never end,
Two pairs of eyes that cried in vain,
Two souls locked in the grip of pain.

The sun shone through the fog of war,
We saw the light and so much more,
Two distant minds brought back as one,
Two souls that chose to stand not run.

Our hearts may still be broken,
But take this as a token,
That we'll stay like this together,
From now until forever.

There may be dark days still to come,
A time where dreams will come undone,
Two pairs of feet that want to flee,
Two lives that long to be set free.

The bond we share will pass each test,
We'll put all doubts and fears to rest,
Two candles that will ever burn,
Two lives that follow what they learn.

Our hearts may still be broken,
Through all that we have spoken,
But we'll keep this up together,
From now until forever.

There may be brighter moments still,
A fantasy we'll both fulfil,
Two pairs of ears that heed the call,
Two souls willing to risk it all.

The life we lead is but the start,
We'll learn to fix each broken heart,
Two lives meant to be joined as one,
Two souls walking towards the sun.

*
Our hearts may still be broken,
But please don't think I'm joking,
I know we'll still be together,
From now until forever.

Walk with me through all we’ve seen,
Talk me through all that we’ve been,
Take away each nagging doubt,
Help my heart to work this out.

Take my hand and hold it tight,
Talk to me and stay in sight,
Keep me safe and ease my fright,
Sit with me all through the night.

Stay with me for just a while,
Share with me your secret smile,
Show me there is more to this,
Save my soul with just one kiss.

Her path was clear and filled with light,
Her thoughts were pure and ever right,
Her love secure and passion bright,
Her faith a beacon through the night.

She dreamt of life in other lands,
She wished for more than empty sands,
She looked for hope in other's hands,
She found nothing but broken strands.

Her heart now cold as falling snow,
Her love crushed like the grass below,
Her soul turned frozen long ago,
Her smile now simply there for show.

Plant your love just like a seed,
Nurture it with each good deed,
Show it light through hope and truth,
Care for it throughout its youth,

Distance those who would devour,
Cherish each and every flower,
Save the leaves of colder years,
Wash them clean with your own tears,

Remember right and forgive wrong,
Keep the stem forever strong,
One day that seed will be a tree,
The fruit of love for all to see.

I see the world as it should be,
the world that we were meant to see,
a simple life for you and me,
where every son of man is free.

I see the way to make it right,
the way to turn from dark to light,
a simple plan to end this blight,
to bring a close to every fight.

I see our place in time and space,
the times we all must surely face,
a simple way to end the chase,
to make us one; a human race.

I see all this, and so do you,
as does the world around us too,
the simple things we all can do,
to save us from 'the mighty few'.

They watched her from the darkness,
just counting down the time,
a picture of pure calmness,
her countenance sublime.

They followed her in silence,
still waiting for their chance,
a moment more in patience,
before they start the dance.

They talked to her In whispers,
beyond all she could hear,
a secret shared like vespers,
just as her time drew near.

They took her from the shadows,
another lost young soul,
her eyes no longer windows,
into the heart they stole.

I am a creature of two halves,
A demon of angelic wing,
A siren to my fallen kin,
A song for damaged souls to sing.

I am a creature of two hearts,
A killer with a lover's smile,
A haven to each broken dream,
A stop along their final mile.

I am a creature of two lives,
A hunter hunted by my prey,
A shadow hidden in the night,
A dreamer waiting for the day.

I am a creature of two minds,
A knight that damns each one I save,
A noble beast of sordid deeds,
A curse upon the peace I crave.

His shadow still walks next to her,
the wind still calls his name,
the days have gone by in a blur,
but still she feels the same.

She curls up with his memory,
for now lost in her dreams,
for all that they had planned to be,
and never would it seems.

His shadow still walks by her side,
the loss still haunts her mind,
the months have drifted with the tide,
no peace for her to find.

Her heart will learn to trust again,
in time her wounds will heal,
in days to come she'll love again,
despite how she may feel.

His shadow still walks close behind,
the tears less painful now,
the years lost in the daily grind,
she's learned to cope somehow.

She smiles a bit from time to time,
a little more each day,
a glimpse of something once sublime,
that will return someday.

His shadow still walks next to her,
the pain in shadow too,
the distant days lost in a blur,
a dawn of something new.

Her life is very different now,
all darkness in the past,
all that she feels is love now,
and the faith that it will last.

His shadow still walks in her stead,
the world would hardly know,
the pain still kept deep in her head,
but time has helped her grow.

She now has love to keep her strong,
a partner through life's game,
a son they've both sought for so long,
who shares that long lost name.

have faith in what you know can be,
hope not for what you cannot see,
hear all the words the choir sings,
hold close your heart when love begins,

hate not the thief or begging man,
he knows nothing of nature's plan,
heed all the cries of noble men,
here waits the chance to live again,

hark to the days of sacred life,
hide not your fear of satan's knife,
heal all your wounds within the fire,
hail not the gods nor man's desire.

Humanity is fractured,
Humanity is lost,
Humanity is all of us,
We all will pay the cost.

We're all a little different,
We're all a little weird,
We're all a little mixed up,
We're nothing to be feared.

There is no need for violence,
There is no need for hate,
There is no them or us now,
We all share the same fate.

The world, they say, is scary,
The world, they say, is scarred,
The world is out of order,
We've made it all too hard.

There is no true religion,
There is no higher law,
There is no cause for conflict,
We're human- nothing more.

This is our time to grow up,
This is our time to change,
This is our time to wake up,
We know it will be strange.

Let's put away our weapons,
Let's put to rest our fear,
Let's put the past behind us,
We'll not shed one more tear.

Share with me this life sublime,

Hold my hand and walk with me,
Stay right here- don’t let me be,
Keep me in your heart and mind,
Don’t let my soul be left behind.

drifting in the sea of sleep,
lost in night's infernal keep,
rusted chains on life's stone wall,
ties that break as ages fall,
hopes and dreams of man's desire,
forged in time's immortal fire,
sacred thoughts the fires reap,
burning holes through mem'ries deep,
thoughts of love's eternal power,
fading with each passing hour,
leaving this most fragile shell,
never more these words to tell.

Angels ever follow us,
Daring us to sin,

Clouds will ever cover us,
When the rains begin,

Spirits ever wait for us,
Saving us a seat,

Night will come and go for us,
As the days repeat,

Demons ever follow us,
Seeing all we do,

Fires will take hold of us,
When all this is through.
