I didn't know I was hungry until you fed me
I was starved for the thought of you.
Receiving your words and images from places far from anything you loved
meant nothing until I felt your shaking hands
To finally understand everything small
magnified by your failing eyes.

The lines and glass of buildings you admire fall from view
As abandoned concrete buildings, paused in mid construction, flood my eyes
I see them now only as you do
beautiful, with promises of becoming.

You are walking ahead of me now
I am slow and full from the fruit of your love
I gorged on the sweetness of reminder
With bruised knees you handed me memory outside of places I never visited
Kneeling in front of wires and glass of buildings made famous
resolved.
