Time
Anna Banasiak Jun 2017
I'm looking at the mirror of memory
thoughts are melting in the past
forgetting everything
in the river of changes
the world is whirling
like a bird
the emperor of it all

The Cage
Anna Banasiak Jun 2017
I wear a cage
in myself
in a changing rhythm
of life and death
silent space overwhelms
in a world
full of countless doors
nothing was like I thought
stairs without exit
everywhere

The trains
Anna Banasiak Jun 2017
I hear their echo…

they’re running through my world

in the inner Jerusalem

the faces scatter

like the broken vessels

I wear a cage in myself

in the clothes

of memory

silence overwhelms

in the trains

of thoughts

doors without exit

everywhere

the trains are hiding

in my dreams

The River of Reality
Anna Banasiak Jun 2017
I swim into
The sounds and shadows
Of the past
Shaping sadness
Time stops the existence
My soul sails
To the border of life
I pass
In silence

Baggage
Anna Banasiak Jun 2017
My life is baggage

I’m leaving my home

In suitcases of memories

I’m a stranger in the world

Wandering in the chaos of hate

I’ll go again somewhere

Trying to forget the past

On the road to freedom

I’m finding my identity

Among people and things

Rushing nowhere

This journey never ends

I’m looking for the meaning

In a new life

Carrying the baggage

it’s dark here
I can't fall asleep without you
why can't you come back

A Kitten
Anna Banasiak Jun 2017
Don’t run away from me
I just want to talk
touch You tenderly
purring like a cat
on a tin roof
I will enslave You
to think as I do
about me and in me
though it is dangerous
open me to the world
because mine is closed
baby kitty
don’t try to fight
and so you are mine
shall we purr together
dancing on the roof?

The River
Anna Banasiak Jun 2017
The world is running too fast
I swim in the river of things and memories
see the pictures which I have to leave
I close myself in loneliness
locking in the past
hiding my fears and dreams
the river of life is flowing
faster and faster
I close my eyes
and find
eternity

your nakedness

the taste of Your kiss

Infinity
Anna Banasiak Jan 2017
I'm listening to the immense sounds of the sea
amidst the echoes of the past
the sky absorbs moments
I forget the names and shapes of things
in the chaos of passing
standing on the shore
in the absolute loneliness
the waves are taking time
which has left
turning the memories
into emptiness

I’m looking at people
lost in the rushing universe
I’m only a drop of time

in the music of things

like a blind bird.

Van Gogh’s Ear
Anna Banasiak Dec 2016
The space is blurred
I see men in the fur of red birds
yellow clocks wearing hats
are sitting at the table
mirrors are laughing at me
things are ticking
in the echo of chaos
I spread
burning wings
suspended
in doubled dimensions
the sea of colours
is shaping sadness
I feel so lonely
in my locked reality

The Waves
Anna Banasiak Dec 2016
I'm looking
at the slow ripple of time.
In the rhythms of the ocean
moving away into the past
The waves take our words
and cast into the abyss.
My soul is floating like a feather.
The darkness
absorbs the fears and anxieties.
Close my eyes.
Do you hear an echo of God
amidst the waves?

Meditation
Anna Banasiak Nov 2016
The heart beats faster and faster louder
sounds words and thoughts quiet down
I drift off to the islands of childhood
body and soul are still muted
they float on the other side
thoughts merge with water
I swim deep into myself
wandering without tips
for transformation
I drift off
getting ahead further
deeper and deeper
heart beats more slowly
becoming quieter

free
from the world
behind the glass door
I’m looking for the light
on the way home

happy upon a moment
brightened by a light
approaches infinity

as a used prop
I’m leaving
to start playing

The Lost Keys
Anna Banasiak Nov 2016
Grandma, is that you?
I heard your voice.
Why have you gone?

We’ll go to Saint Anthony
to find the keys and glasses
in the lost past.

I can’t sleep in an empty house.
It is so dark here.
Loneliness drowns out thoughts.
I'm afraid of the noise of silence.
Tara doesn't want to go
squealing with grief.
I'll take the grid,
make the tea,
find the keys
only come back.

Without you I'm lost
in the clutter of life.

The Rain in Istanbul

I listen to the rain in Istanbul
birds sing silent melody
the streets are full of mystical light
I walk through the Sufi path
recite the poetry of Orhan Veli Kanik
and my eyes are shining with sweetness
I listen to the rain in Istanbul
the voices of the Grand Bazaar
merge with the echo of the saint texts
I taste the sounds of the eternal Istanbul
and my heart is filled with joy

The Footbridge
Anna Banasiak Mar 2016
Childhood in Poland.
Carefree and warm.
We flounder in the water like beavers
and although leeches pinch us in the calves
we build the dam.

The river is dreaming.

Reflecting as in a mirror
the familiar faces
of friends and loved ones,
they forgot me,
their children have grown up
and gone into the unknown.

The river is dreaming.

And I’m still standing on the footbridge.
I'm afraid to jump.
Cross the dam of time.
