In the spaces between the words
We are all poets
Our verses fill a thousand pages

In the seconds before the bugle
We are all heroes
Our feats resounding through the ages

In the silence between the notes
We are all singers
Our voices echo from every hill

In the evening by the fire
We dream of journeys
We plan to take but never will

There are tears on your face
I cannot dry
You do not hear me cry
For forgiveness
Everything is out of place
Our time gone by
Andy Steel Dec 2016
Between the lengthening days behind and the quickening days ahead
Between the duty to the living and the pledges to the dead
Squeezed by time I freeze in indecision
Which dreams to hold and which to shed
Which single path to tread
Through the quickening days ahead
