On the Roof
Andrew Tinkham May 2015
Then on my third floor balcony, to read some poetry
Sun is shining, but it can't get through all the leaves.
Look to my right, I'll need some more height.
From railing to roof, I ascend the ***** of tattered shingles.
I get to the top, the sun is still not high enough.
That tree is so tall.
Guess I'll be shivering here a while.

And I Love Her She Knows
Andrew Tinkham Jun 2014
My love's now the chandelier of my life from which all others do hang

I want to climb her and swing from her and gaze at her sparkle

Never before has my love been so fine

Each few days she gets finer

I's up to bat and I hit a sharp liner

Over the head of a short stop to left center

My smile was her smile and I slowed into second

Now I'm laughing and now in tears of sweet joy for my love and her sunshine

And she is the brightest and she is the highest and every last second of this life I've spent searching reminds me of how I want nothing more

And when times get hard I'm gonna learn quick to just smile because every last time it gets better much better

I'm always surprised I can be surprised I wonder why

I'm not expecting but it's always coming

Time after time after time after time

Better and better my love is a sweater

Have her in heat and slip with her within her

Then I pause in her eyes and pools fill with Jim's mystic heated wine

The pools overflow on and on it goes dance under water falls no need to end

I have found my friend

I'll not be lonely now she loves me that's the one that holds me

Fine
Andrew Tinkham Jun 2015
She bit my lip.
That was her thing.
Not the best dance of my life,
Though maybe the dirtiest.

But she got scared,
Left me alone.
I don't need her now,
No, not anymore.

Behind dumpster,
In the alley,
We pulled down our pants,
She got on top of me.

*** on gravel,
My **** not hard,
She understood I was drunk,
Said, "Let's go somewhere else."

She could have come,
Yes, to Portland.
But she was young and dumb,
I'll find better tonight.
P.S. didn't find better that night...

Has to Explode
Andrew Tinkham Aug 2015
I miss you daily. My pockets are bulging. My hair is combed backwards, and I'm singing songs. It's getting so lovely, that I'm learning patience, and sacrifice nothing to bring you along. Your sense is outstanding, your eyes flutter by, your knees beget rocking, our porch is a ticket. The show is the world now, life is a girl now, she'll sacrifice nothing to bring me along. Money's the answer, 'cause most women need it, life is a girl now, I can't help but eat it. I want to repeat it, but can't remember how. I want to hit you daily; stop, think, you know me. I couldn't hurt you if I tried; I wouldn't, it doesn't matter. Just get enough rest, dear, to keep climbing the ladder. Your space is my home. My race knows your throne. You will have no need to wind up alone. Let me be your windy whisper, your midnight kisser, your only mister, your peachy goodbye to the only world you've known. The future is learning. They see us we're burning, cracking our whips and moving right along. But they see us coming, only coming, forever coming, 'til one day we meet, and time has to explode.

I Don't Mind
Andrew Tinkham Jul 2014
You in you out I'm excited again
Maybe you maybe not but we'll not pretend
I love you a lot and there ain't no doubt
Maybe you maybe not but we're gonna find out

I met her on a drunken night when I put my head down on her shoulder
We danced I suppose I lifted arms just to hold her

I'm in love with the look in your eyes
When you are angry ain't it just a disguise
There's evening empires and who's got the crown now?
We pay it no mind if one decides to be the clown now

I asked her to marry me when I heard a voice to tell me to
I was layin' down in bed it said ask her she might let you
I says I haven't got a ring and many things we'd have to do
It says you pay it no mind now who's gonna forget you?
I asked her to marry me she asked if I was serious
How could she not know I's serious I thought she's beggin' me to
Well I buried my head and said yes and she said yes I said oh my and then
I kissed her and then nothing happened...

A cloud descended like a dust and my head hurt but I was tired
The next day I had the most brilliant idea at work I said, Hey! I'll call it off!

Didn't see her after work I had another engagement, seeing the new City
Treasurer being sworn in he was my step dad
When I got home oh man my head was really throbbin' now and I could
            hardly stand
Pile of dishes, pile of clothes every gadget turned on and ev'ry window
            closed
I said don't mind the dishes and let me turn off all of those there was a
grouchin' in my voice and I took off most my clothes
I opened up a window let the evening air in, started on the dishes and she
            thinks it's a sin
Well I got to bed and she was cold as the North pole I forgot my idea and
            started workin' on my soul
Next morning finally comes and she's still not lookin' at me and I told her
let's forget it she said hey why not forget 'we'
I tried to explain that marriage ain't all that there is and it was clouding up
my mystery let's just leave it where it is
She just drove me to work I said you should make up your mind, cause
you can sure leave me I ain't the crawlin' back kind

What this is all about
Maybe you maybe not
I got my mystery back
And we're gonna find out

Well there he goes again, Duke Ellington, got a strange feeling again
Rain puddles glistenin
Oh yes right now

I feel myself a-peekin up over some wall

                                                                   Of stucco

I's strainin' my eyes but I can't see it all

The rain falls, she tells me where it hurts and I remember to love her just
           before my love deserts

I'm almost on empty

Just as sad, little sweeter

OK... So
Andrew Tinkham May 2015
I looked for footing and kicked pebbles away and tried to get just close enough so I could clear the edge.
It wasn't working because its scary
To think of dying while peeing.
I knew what to do to free a hand and get more comfortable.
I climbed back up the shingled ***** away from the edge.
I took off my sweatpants.
I took off my Grateful Dead shirt.
I was naked.

I went back down to the edge, feeling like a fishin the sea.
Now soon enough the stream it came.
White gold drops spattered on the roof and stopped.
I knew I had to clear the roof or else what was the point.
I put out a second shine line but still missed the mark.
Then, a car alarm goes off.
Good thing I'm not the nervous type.
Alright, third time's the charm and it was!
I cleared the edge,
Cascading crystals sped to the ground to explode in a patter.

Now naked, still, I write and feel the warm sunlight.

We love to see beauty and hold it up like a picture to the sun.
Then we go dancing, we knock them out.
Peasants danced, poor little girls without a word said more with their grace than so many ristocrats spit out of fancy schools.
We were upset to learn we had to do a little work, but elated to discover we had ability.
Then sometimes it was just easy. My God I love easy.
And when we're lazin are we not just in our right place and we know it.
Perfect laziness and horizontal. Let your arm drop to the cool wood floor.

That makes all the pennies
Throw up
Like the raven
Can't shut,
Stop behavin'
Can't seek
Their own maven
Can't treat their own kin
I get sad for them often I'm still glad I brought them when they let enough light in I'm barely goodnight and I treat you I treat we I drink up your sweet tea I thirst for her anger but I'm quenched in my hangar...

Soaring
Pouring
Flying
Sighing

Then I look out the window
I see her in sandals
I look for your weakness
You laugh with a Preakness.
I promise her the grand daddy of them all
Then we ball, and we ball, and we ball, through the stall.

Till we fall
Not we, you
I mean me
And my sweet tooth
My love is a phone booth,
I have no one to call.

You should see her
Desert you
I'm sad she had to see you
Her eyes are for sunshine
And you are the gutter.
For you, I bet, she would probably 'forget the butter'.

Multilove
Andrew Tinkham May 2014
I looked for the One babe you know I did.

I was always planning a bit, kinda guarding in case that one vision of a ragged future came true and then with a really big bad world I was gonna want to hold just one babe so she had to be perfect.

Now I see the ragged future will not come to be and we definitely made the technicolor world full of music and perfect people and no need for rules, violence or greed.

To each it's own kingdom under God's holy reign and we'll not want to do one thing that could hurt anyone and we won't.

Everyone will have enough, and greed will make one look so foolish that one will blush and give things away.

Everyone with violence in the heart will be outnumbered and far inferior to anyone who doesn't want violence.

Everything bad will seem silly and we'll be laughing.

Multilove will be our great gift and we will love everyone and everything properly.

I for one, can't wait!

Wrapped in Multilove and I'm just a new thing. It's a vehicle and yet another and more grand trip to begin and it is made of the reward of the last trip. Multilove is infinite peace and really the most social thing my small brain can comprehend right now. So we're meeting wherever for the next indeterminate amount of time and my guess is the trick will be to learn every heart, giving my own throughout the way, and wind right back to the goal of the last trip, the One. Many will have much *** and I'll want to but I'm going to be so discerning because it's in my best interest. See you all so soon, soon, soon.

I crashed through the ceiling I don't need a floor now I used to be reeling but the void's my support now.

Doldrums are rolling but if I stay patient I know I'll be happy I stayed when something comes up and meets me.

I was a bit worried that this was where I was going because I loved the ride but honestly the end is even better.

There is only beauty now, gain and loss but no pain or cost.

I still love sadness but she's now a perfect lover and there is more time for her and more time for infinitely more perfect beings and I'm glad I skirted every snare and I'm growing growing growing like my fuzzy wuzzy hair.

All I can say for now is beware idolatry, learn what it is and guard yourself from it. This is a time for beautiful expression and every one of us has many things to show and create. Remember it was Jesus's God who got us here and we thank him and we'll be fine.

Somile.
I'm back.
I haven't been away.
I've been drowning.
Of course...
It's been a sea of happiness.

Water inflates my lungs and then there is nothing to do
          but shout.
Sounds invade my ears and there is nothing to do
          but dance.
Light reflects my soul and there is nothing to do
          but shine.
The world is yours but don't you ever forget the world is mine.

I will lift you up.
I will make you sing.
I will make you remember you are a part of everything.

Now breathe deep in nothing.
Thank her gentle caress.
Without her YOU would be nothing.
Light something for this.

If you light ****, I say, "Good job, don't forget the day,"
If you light a torch, I say, "May it show your way."
If at last you starve, I say, "Eat, you are not done."
If at night you glow, I say, "The stars, too, have their fun."

Be evervescent, iridescent, soon to grab your hold.
Find your fight, sail each night, marvel at what you behold.
Sing your song, make it long; play what you can and you will.
Be alright, be a sight, laugh til you laugh, until...

A man came up to me leaving the bus station and asked if I could spare a few dollars for a meal. I guess He wasn't afraid of my black eye. I reached in my pocket and felt stingey. I pulled out a one and said, "I got a dollar for a Red Wings win." "Alright", he sighed.

Power laughed at me and said, "Is that all you've got?"
It wasn't.
Divine justice would seem to me to be saying, here: you were left with two dollars after the Red Wings' two-nothing loss in Game 7. The man asked for a few bucks and you didn't even look him in the eye. Other things on your mind? Sure. But take this lesson to heart. Never forget the weak, until every last one is strong.
