Call me
The girl with flowers.
Flowers in her
Chestnut hair.
She clocks in her hours.

Smiles away.
Grime under naked nails.
Gets ready
For the grind
As she gathers up her pails.

Waters and whittles.
Pours her heart into every pour.
Trying to make
An impression on
Viewers of the store.

Wrenching
In her harmonious heart,
She picks out
The dead
And tosses them onto the cart.

Brings to the back,
Never to be seen
By eyes that need
To brighten their lives
With pink and green.

She brings forth nurture,
Love, and care
To each of her
Bountiful blessings
Caught in her summery snare.

The roses in the garden are beautiful but somewhat mean
They think of themselves as the kings and queens
With a superior air about them they put others down
As they flaunt about the garden in their thorny crowns

So all the flowers got together
To form a picket line
Feeling they were being unfairly treated
Or so felt the dandelions

The hydrangeas overflowing
In decadent display
Are not timid, they prefer
To make heads turn their way

The single, reserved tulips
Are certainly a bit more shy
While still drawing attention
By the way they kiss the sky

Every flower in the garden
Think their own beauty could run the show
That's what each of them wrote on their sign
To let the roses know

This trouble with mothers nature
Will be written about in books
The uprising in the garden
The day the earth was shook

Back before those thorny reds
It seemed everything was bliss
So the weeds were hired for a hit
By the sneaky, scheming iris

The weeds though were sprayed the day before
So they never stood a chance
They were knocked out of the running
When they themselves danced with death

The white picket fence was knocked down
Which set the snapdragons free
Creating quite the havoc
In this wild garden mêlée

This day will always be remembered
Made sure by the forget-me-nots
When all the flowers got together
To show the roses what they've got
Collaboration with Mike Hauser.

As the Northern winds let loose
My thoughts they turn to you
The mystery to my moments
My cool September blue

You left a trail of flowers
I wish to follow and pursue
You left memories unfaded
My cool September blue

You kissed me in the season
Held me in the dawn of truth
Thawed the chill of reason
Turned my senses loose

The furnace of my heart
Cannot warm me now
I shudder, chasing my thoughts
As they chase your ghost somehow

Leaving me momentarily breathless
Without a summers clue
Hoping to find you in time
My cool September blue

I know you'll come again
And bring a brighter hue
But for now, I stare in silence
My cool September blue
Collaboration with my favorite poet, Mike Hauser!

My love is like the Universe -
Constantly expanding.
It seems an unfortunate curse
To be trapped on this tiny planet.

Orion catches my eye,
As his eyes twinkle and glow.
What a dreamy guy -
Fighting the monstrous Scorpio.

I'll lend you an ear
As you explain time and space.
I can't comprehend what I hear.
I hope it wasn't a waste.

Where our conversation goes next
There is no telling.
Knowing you best,
It's probably melons.

Even though Space is vast -
Other life forms around the bend
And of all the people, present and past
I'd still like you to be my friend.

Christmas time
Of '91
Hold on, Momma,
Here I come.
Live near Miami
You wish to name me
After the city,
Instead you choose Amy.
I have a brother
Daddy must remind
"Anthony, love her.
And try to be kind."
We played every day
With toys and thoughts
And things we shouldn't say.
It made childhood rock.
First year
Of middle school
No friends near
No boyfriend too.
Awkwardly,
I made new friends.
And soon after,
My first boyfriend.
All through high school,
I loved that boy.
Poor grades,
But loving joy.
Age 18,
He's a Marine.
That same year,
We're married.
Also that year,
Good and bad fusion.
I went to the Doctor:
Bipolar delusions.
I studied in school,
As husband fought.
It didn't quite help
My paranoid thoughts.
Finished a course,
I'm registered
To look at your tooth,
Still looking ahead.
Other things
I'd like to do.
Surfing the web,
Made a decision.
Tomorrow's the day
I'll be a vegan.
This very day
Still alive,
Still happy and healthy,
Still full of drive.
Living in Cali,
Isn't it nice?
Working with flowers,
Paid a price.
Every year
Goes by faster
I'm thankful for
Love and laughter
To fill the years
And fill my heart
This, my life,
Is what I've got.

You keep me up at night
Thinking of you, in trance.
Let's stay up all night
Doing the bedroom dance.

We don't need furniture,
We can dance standing up.
So you know in the future,
I like to be felt up.

I feel sticky and sweaty
Just thinking about you
I'm wanting and ready
To see what you can do.

We can dance in public.
At home, or with your friend.
We're dancing, and I love it.
I don't want it to end.

The dance is over.
My hair is in knots.
You're my favorite lover
Running through my thoughts.

Snow in her hair.
Cold, red lips.

A Heaven that surely exists.

She breaks her gaze.
Then breaks my heart.

Snow mingling with tears unsuccessfully fought.

A day far away,
We'll be together somewhere

With cherry blossoms fallen in her hair.
