Ariel McClanahan Nov 2015
he knows exactly the right words to say:
the perfect sweet nothings to whisper into my fragile ear,
he knows exactly what i want to hear,
so he'll say what he may
knowing how easy it is to lead me astray,
and every word whispered, i hold it dear
wishing, hoping, he'll hold me near,
knowing he won't feel the same the next day
Ariel McClanahan Nov 2015
he's only happy when
my pretty little lips are wrapped around him,
when he can pat my head
and say "good girl"
because i'm doing what he wants,
but if i don't,
he'll turn his head
and kindly never speak to me again
now i can't have that
can i

so i'll gladly take him in my mouth
if that means he'll love me
and he'll never leave me,
he'll keep me close
because he knows
he has me in the palm of his hand
and if i do what he wants
he'll have to be with me,
because who else
would bend over as easily as i do

i want you to be happy,
even if that happiness doesn’t include me

i write stories not songs
to read at night when you’re all alone
and you’re missing him
but he’s not missing you
no wonder that you’re feeling blue

the few seconds before death
are filled with thoughts
of life
of love
of lack thereof
and what did you think of
did you regret
the life you lived
or that you'd never live again
i hope you're happy,
finally
