I get nervous around you.
I feel my heart drop to my stomach.

Your smile warms my heart
And freezes time.

You have eyes like no other
They stare deep inside of me
They know my deepest secrets
And my most broadest details.

The way you look at me
Like you miss me
Like you hate me
Like youre unsure of what love really means

You can lie to yourself all you want
I'm still with you
The reminisce of me haunts you at night
You love me
But you have that macho man way of life
So you can't love me.
But you want to
I hope.

The way your lips move
Is like no other.
Its smooth like a hockey puck on ice
Its words travel like teenage kids trying to escape
Their lives.
Something I know you wanna do.
Everything you say,
Everything you do,
Leads me to believe
You just want to leave.
frolicking in the white
light, soft
untouched snow
my heart melts like
butter on toast!
to simply see
my beloved ones
(I)

let everything stop for a moment;
all movement
(and)

locate the wondering mind
among the tips of the trees;
(that)

are weighted by the substance
dipping towards the earth;
(I swear that)

*all I can feel is Your presence
a time spent in the snow with my beloved friends

on the leafy salad of my life
you are the dressing...
for without you its all just
let-us and wish-es!

this, the silly, corny, jumble of thoughts that dropped out as my love told me about her list of preparations for our Thanksgiving Day dinner with our sons and their families. i love every part of her, even those things that used to so irritate me are becoming more and more endearing!!!

I never met a fool in love
'til the day that I met you
Believing in fairytales and wishing wells
in hopes they will come true

Yet I know that you accept it
and trust life works this way
You'll happily continue in your quest
for life's biggest ever cliche

So wish upon a star
a lucky clover from the patch
We know where you wish you were
a fool in love is where you're at

But if you discover the fairytale
and can prove that all is true
Please offer me, just once, a tinder kiss
so I too can be a fool
A collaboration with the Lovely Louise Mckay!

Ever since my early days of youth
I've been questioning
All the hidden secrets of life
And exactly what it means

So imagine my excitement
When I climbed the mountain top
And asked the man of wisdom
Just what it is he thought

Where he said...

Life is like a toaster
With people dropping in and popping out
Some may stay in the heat of life for too long
And find themselves burned out

Life is like a toaster
If you're kept down long enough
The heat that's applied to your outsides
Only strengthens your inner crust

Life is like a toaster
Some people are shiny on the outside
But lift them up and what you see
Are the crumbs they leave behind

After all these years of searching
I climbed high enough to learn the truth
With the meaning of life now by my side
I knew just what I had to do

I went straight back home to my people
The ones that I could help the most
I started at the local breakfast diner
Where I ordered up some toast

I'm still nursing my wounded parts

Where your scalpel carved in too deep

Broke a piece off inside of my heart

Which left this pain inside of me

Left me laying in a puddle of blood

Till the ambulance rolled around

Had them wondering about all the fuss

Since no outer markings could be found

If your intention was to maim

Satisfied with that lasting truth

Another victim comes to rue the day

That they fell in love with you

features

Anna2000
while its true,
most have a favored feature,
their eyes
glowing with colors,
said to be windows to the soul,
some choose hair,
tumbling down backs,
gleaming with highlights,
and low-lights.
but do these have any real purpose,
other than vanity?
what about brains,
the thing that lets you think,
or your heart,
a literal drum in your chest,
a figurative container of love?
mine is wrists,
delicate, slim, pale,
yet strong,
beautiful, but useful,
what i use to support my hands,
my fingers,
all working together in symphony,
creating music on a guitar,
supporting the neck while the fingers fly,
contributing to beautiful things,
creating poems to inspire,
for others,
or just for me.
they make writing, typing, playing,
possible,
all the while still beautiful.
you never hear someone say
"my favorite feature is my wrists"
well,
now you have,
because if someone ever asks,
i have a unique answer.
right now, my fingers flying as i type,
im making a connection between
wrists and brain,
wrists and heart.
this may seem odd,
but if you understand this rambling,
than consider us friends,
because we are very few.

First off my friend
Let me begin
By saying I ain't no poet
Just a fool with a pen

Now with those pleasantries
Out of the way
Let me proceed to say
What I need to say

I've written different poems
On different subjects, different matters
Some soft as a kitten
Others mad as a hatter

Every now and then
I stand on the serious ledge
But more often than not
I fall right off of the edge

Like I said before
I'm just a fool with a pen
Drooling from my smile
Cross eyed in my grin

Separating in rhyme
All the boys from the men
Cackling in crazy
From the beginning to the end

Thanking my lucky stars
Rhyming comes so easy
Like a trip to Venus or Mars
Half baked brain and over queasy

Like I said before
When all of this began
I really ain't no poet
Just a fool with a pen
