Sparks of Hope
Alaska Knightley Mar 2015
When all the doors are shut, not a single light

A strand of hope, all out of sight

When life has lost all meaning and reason

When you can’t find yourself at the darkest season

You find it hard to even breathe anymore

How can you find yourself, how can you restore

That soul of yours that has been overwhelmed with black

It’s distanced itself because it’s under attack

You want to stop fighting because you think that you’ve lost

You think that they’ve won, no matter what cost

But no- remember that even though you can’t see it just yet

You’re almost there, even though you haven’t met

The light awaits you in screaming shades

It’s glowing brightly, reach before it fades

People have tortured and used your heart

Killing it slowly - dart by dart

But you have stood there through it all

Curiosity, pain and love you bore

Despite all the things you have been through

Secrets have been tattooed on you

Your heart of ink is slowly crumbling

Your helpless, withering, stumbling

The rest of the world in colours bright

Yet you’re in shades of black and white

Afraid of the world, the monsters that rule the dark

Afraid to stand alone, to make your mark

Afraid to see the night

Because you can no longer see a light

But what has gotten you through it all?

What has made you bear it all?

It was because when all the doors against your soul

You saw the light of the spectacular keyhole
