you've found another
how is it so easy for you?
am i that forgetful?
is it easy to misplace the memory of me making you grip your bedsheets and sigh my name?
the spills of silk and stories you used to weave for me
do it again for me?
just once more.
let me kiss you again- and we can soon forget after.
i'll bite your fingertips instead of matting them with kisses
the way you liked
and when we untangle from each other,
sated and sour
i wish you'd ask me to stay for another night
to learn me again
to remember my laugh
and the way i silently beg you to touch me
pulling on your wrist cuff, m o r e
it is never enough to soothe my weary soul, though i do not blame you for this.
my heart is a cavernous void- any ounce of affection you throw in, gets swallowed up
with only a yearning moan for more in return
you never treated me right
but let me lay in your lap and pretend again that you did
rub the small of my back and let me imagine you as a better man.

till beautiful black skin becomes coated in blood red
till mothers and siblings see their loved ones pushed to the concrete
the light in their eyes extinguished
how many times will we see lives murdered on our streets?
how many more times until black lives finally matter?
even if you batter and bruise us, we will not fall
not today, not ever
we will not stop as long as we have to tell our young children they may be shot for just playing
till law enforcement stops comforting white privilege
to them, the lives lost are just another name on a piece of paper that will never be looked at twice
to them
             black lives
                              are a danger.
how was 12 year old Tamir Rice a danger?
how was George Floyd a danger?
and how is suffocation not?
i am not black, but i see you
i will fight for you, fight with you
till black lives finally matter
till we finally get justice.

“Despair”
Flavorless to the tongue,
chains you down without warning
Tears you down till there’s nothing left
And when you feel the sweet release of “Hope”
Touched by humanity’s kindness
Puzzled by it’s ruthlessness

You ache to be seen
But do nothing to make that reality
Alas, it remains like a infant child
Yearning to be coaxed
Time stops for no one
Yet it has room in it’s agenda to torment each mind

“Despair”
An unseeable thing
Yet so close, you could touch
“Give it life!” it spoke to it’s lord
“Give it everything, but let it have the ability to envy, to hate”
“Despair” smiles cooly at every life as they take their own
It whispers in mans ear, till it shatters his very core
But, teaching him only one lesson
“Break the unknown, before it breaks you.”
