Part of a poetry chain with Aditya Bhaskara and Kirti Pabrekar Patil. Thank you!
I lowered my bucket into the well of words
And raised it up, hand over fist,
While syllables and phrases sloshed about,
Some spilling over
In my eagerness to drink them deep.

Oh, how I wanted to be filled up.

The words poured out,
And they emptied into the clay jar of my disconnected soul,
Rubra terra terra firma incognita
Plant me deep and water these roots.
(Am I real? Will I always be?)

And oh, how they filled me up.

I spoke the words aloud,
And they slithered between the cracks of my shattered glass self,
Amber crackled sunlight streaming right on through,
It looked like I would go on forever (and ever, ever)

And oh, the words broke me open.
I was and will be
ever after,
a story

written by candlelight
in the presence of a kitchen knife,
laying idle, by the ribbons
twirling around chandeliers
and a pink hearts envelop,

telling you of the day,
music played
and I was there
with a smile.

And they all sang,
"Happy Birthday!"
dedicated to my family & friends!
in this nearly empty train
i sit by the window thinking of you
every minute that passes
takes me farther away
and yet
I’m joyous
for i can feel
the waves of your love
washing over me.
You, my love,
are the smile that refuses to leave my lips
others look, wondering why
only I know .
you are the strumming within my chest
that never ceases
yours is the memory
that never leaves.
i smile
even as a solitary teardrop
rolls down my cheek
and falls on the cool surface
a compound of pain with pleasure.
i’m conflicted
yet at peace
sorrowful
yet happy.
and isn’t this
what love is about,
what it has always been.
