LOVE TOUCHES EVERYTHING.
I feel that love is spread round me
in every object l can see.
I see it in the trees around.
I feel it in the table wood.

Each one tells me a story that
to my old past it can relate.
I saw the trees when a sky bird
on branches green came down to land.

I saw the table when my friends
sat round it and outstretched their hands.
They ate with love that in me crept
to make the table permanent.

YOU CARRIED ME FAR, GOLD-FINCH.
I try to catch the song that a finch sings.
I find its wavy sound in my heart rings,
but my ears are too weak to seize the tune
and to my dearest poems to attune.

I see you perching on a twig too frail.
I find it like my words that try to nail
your tune and that rainbow that stins the sky
and spans between your tree and clouds that cry.

You make me know how tethered are my hands
when compared with my soul whose flight expands
between the earth, the sea and endless space,
starting from my small room and tiny house.

HOWEVER YOU ARE, CALL CHRIST.
Don't let your time go by, and you are shy
to meet your Lord, Who is in His high sky.
You can get pure today, not every day
as the pandemic can block your locked way.

You could be in great danger and no one
could approach your locked room to hear your moan.
How would you feel while you would like a priest
to hear your voice to endow you some rest.

Life can distract your mind, but death is near.
Be always clean to shun a greater fear.
The Lord is always prompt when you call Him,
but you don't call when you're not pure and calm.

THE DIVINE MENTOR               Anapest
Only You were quite free from all sins.
You were pure all Your life, that was hard.
You perceived women through their own needs
not through Your selfish wants from the world.

Your own likes were not felt in Your heart,
which was filled with the poor and Your help.
You forgot all Your taste of good life
and just gave what can prop their upkeep.

You could say a few words to shun death,
but Your life was a style for poor men.
Through Your cross You could save man from woe,
and You showed how the cross could bring gain.

TRACING MY EARLY CHILDHOOD
I passed beside the site of my old house
that my dear father was so glad to build.
I looked for buildings that were licensed then
to tell me now where my first years were reared.

There, my young parents were in early years
of their pure marriage that for them was dear.
They were so soft and gave me all their time,
and their warm underwings witnessed my cheer.

That was the time when l learnt the Lord's care,
seen through the hands of parents weaving love.
They made me feel that life was timeless joy
for that immortal child who loved to live.

THE SOUL'S AIM
I feel surprised how people can
enjoy the sinful *** without
great fear that their most sober state
Is lost on earth and in the height.

They don't care for their anxious soul
whose aim is calmness deep and pure
that exists in the afterlife
but starts on earth and there gets sure.

Up there, there is no fear of louts
and people from a careless clan.
Man runs away from them on earth
so that his full calm life can gain.

EUROPE: PAST AND PRESENT
I'm sorry for those who have been
the greatest masters of the scene,
the Europeans, whom l love,
who were so wise and turned naive.

They were great strength for a long time,
from Ancient Greece to famous Rome,
to present times when their grand past
still has some force to make them last.

You had your power and strong hands.
Now, you need others for your deeds.
The others work just for themselves
and soon they'll throw you on the shelves.
