I see around me tombstones grey
Stretching their shadows far away.
Beneath the turf my footsteps tread
Lie low and lone the silent dead -
Beneath the turf - beneath the mould -
Forever dark, forever cold -
And my eyes cannot hold the tears
That memory hoards from vanished years
For Time and Death and Mortal pain
Give wounds that will not heal again -
Let me remember half the woe
I've seen and heard and felt below,
And Heaven itself - so pure and blest,
Could never give my spirit rest -
Sweet land of light! thy children fair
Know nought akin to our despair -
Nor have they felt, nor can they tell
What tenants haunt each mortal cell,
What gloomy guests we hold within -
Torments and madness, tears and sin!
Well - may they live in ectasy
Their long eternity of joy;
At least we would not bring them down
With us to weep, with us to groan,
No - Earth would wish no other sphere
To taste her cup of sufferings drear;
She turns from Heaven with a careless eye
And only mourns that we must die!
Ah mother, what shall comfort thee
In all this boundless misery?
To cheer our eager eyes a while
We see thee smile; how fondly smile!
But who reads not through that tender glow
Thy deep, unutterable woe:
Indeed no dazzling land above
Can cheat thee of thy children's love.
We all, in life's departing shine,
Our last dear longings blend with thine;
And struggle still and strive to trace
With clouded gaze, thy darling face.
We would not leave our native home
For any world beyond the Tomb.
No - rather on thy kindly breast
Let us be laid in lasting rest;
Or waken but to share with thee
A mutual immortality -
By lovely harbor you sang, brisk and clever.
Let me have this one thing, forever.
Never my love?
Or do I mean assailant.
Bubble no more, your dreams are ever present.
my first poem ever.
The rain came down hard that day,
matching the rhythm of my fast pacing heart.
But the rain didn't stop us, it never did.
Both are minds floating on the same thoughts,
wondering when the right time was,
if there ever was a right time.
The rain beat down on us,
as we discovered each other one last time.

The birds fly free over the oceans surface,
circling the waters edge.
You are the ocean and I am the bird,
I may take the plunge, but you have
to be willing to supply a fish.

Without you I would starve.

at nights when I melt into cold lifeless sheets
after a day that was not worth leaving the dead blankets to begin with,
I submerge myself into the plane of forever
nothingness
sink past the oceans of tears
past the spires of faith
past the forked path of good intentions
and fall into black
where all the is, was, will be's
of anything's everything are
nothing
and the matters and heartfelt lies and the inquisitive sideways glances
dissolve, like the grape tablets
my mother used to give me for the cold, into meaningless
nothing.
eventually those memories, pallid with age become
nothing too
and inevitably,
you, too
become
no
thing
.
Tales marketed at the edge of all existence,
formulated by mass hysteria
and poverty
spit from the grinded ideals of our fathers
but our fathers were twisted and aged-
but our mothers,
our mothers
whom were convicted as the criminally insane
and held at a lower standard
knew the future,
they knew we would crumble,
that we must crumble.
For it has been predicted since ancient times
that mankind would fall
but the fall was blamed on Gods
and those of a higher power
because they could not believe
that man would wound himself,
slowly poison himself until he drags
his black and blue skin across the lands
and eats all he sees,
gorging himself till he bursts
and drowns our cities in his impurities.
Funny,
built like monkeys we are fools,
but more to the liking of our pink skin
we are pigs at heart
I have tiger stripes on my hands,
I have them on my arms, legs and back too,
some are red and some are white.
I have tiger stripes lacing up and down my body,
proud because I've earned them,
proud because these scars,
   from memories I can't recall,
have made my teeth sharp
                    and eyes quick.

I have tiger stripes up and down my body,
Proud because I've earned them,
Proud because I deserve them,
Proud because I'm fearless.
