Will my name remain in the Book of Life
Lord knows every day I try
But I’m a sinful man
Living in a sinful land
Doing everything I can
To get by

My favorite team lost last night
I cussed and cried
I got in a fight
Lord knows every day I try
but I’m a sinful man
Living in a sinful land
Doing everything I can
To get by

Probably drank too much last night
Carried on, had some fun
done some things that weren’t right
Lord knows every day I try
But I’m a sinful man
Living in a sinful land
Doing everything I can
To get by

Didn’t make it to church because I stayed out last night
Now I’m watching the TV preacher trying to make things right
The Lord knows I try
But I’m a sinful man
Living in a sinful land
Doing everything I can
To get by

Will my name remain in the Book of Life
Lord knows every day I try
But I’m a sinful man
Living in a sinful land
Doing everything I can
To get by
New song I'm working on
Tim Emminger Feb 2017
I'm going to write me a love story
and its going to start with you
I'm going to write me a love story
because you chased away the blues

Like the sun rising
I love waking up next to you
I'm going to write me a love story
and its going to start with you

Like the midday sun that makes you feel so warm
That's the way I feel when you are in my arms
I'm going to write me a love story
and it's going to start with you

Like the beautiful sunset
The last of the day is the best
You put my mind at ease and heart at rest
I'm going to write me a love story
and it's all because of you

I'm going to write me a love story
and its going to start with you
I'm going to write me a love story
because you chased away the blues
a song I'm working on, modified to poetry

It's the dawn of a new day
The sun is shinning again
I feel the rays on my face
Everything is going to be OK

It the dawn of a new day
Yesterday is gone
What are you going to do today
Live you life like a beautiful song
Tim Emminger Jul 2014
Butterflies in  the day
Fireflies at night
Adding more beauty to my surrounding
Here in the middle of July

People head for the pools to splash around
The laughter of children what a beautiful sound
People lathering up and soaking up the sun
The middle of July; everybody is having fun

There are concerts and festivals, state and county fairs
Summertime fun can be found almost everywhere
Amusement parks and swimming during the day
Campfires and outdoors concerts at night
What a beautiful month; the month of July

I'm just an old hippie
Somehow his spirit has gotten inside me
I'm for peace and love and music
And I like to see my girl in a sundress with a flower in her hair
I'm just an old hippie; I like living free

Some people don't get me
They don't like my long hair
They think I'm just about *** and drugs
And that I don't have a care
I'm an old hippie but your judgment is unfair

I challenge you to read the bible and the teachings of the Lord
Did he teach peace; I believe so
Did he teach about love, understanding and being there for others; do I need to say more
I don't like war; peace and love and music is what I live for
I'm just an old hippie; I like living free

Keep on rolling on
Live your life like a song
There is a rebellion going on
You can only keep people down for so long
Keep rolling, rolling on

Social media is in control
Tuning everyone against one another
No longer thinking of others
Not giving a dam about your brother
We’ve learned to hate and believe we’re great
Keep rolling, rolling on

No more religion
No more murals
No more right or wrong
Hurting others makes you feel strong
No longer trying to get along
Keep rolling, rolling on

There is right and there is wrong
Everything is not acceptable because social media says so
Their facts are often wrong
Why not try loving and getting along
Keep on rolling, rolling along

The bible and the hippies had it right
Love others as you love yourself tonight
Peace, love and music is alright
Keep rolling, rolling along

Come on down to Louisville, Kentucky
For the Fastest Two Minutes In Sports
The first Saturday in May is Kentucky Derby time
It's the end of a two week celebration; the best of times

The runners race that takes a lap around the track
Thunder over Louisville has fireworks and planes fly past
There is a balloon glow and steamboat race
Where else can you go for a time so great

Now it is race day; an all day party
The insane gather in the infield and they can get naughty
You have celebrities, mint juleps and crazy hats
The Kentucky Derby is where it's at

The beautiful horses parade around
The bugles sounds and  My Old Kentucky Home plays
The excitement peaks; it's time for the race
Dreams of the Triple Crown; the Kentucky Derby is the first leg
The Run For The Roses; someone's dream starts today
Tim Emminger May 2016
The sun rises up over the Kentucky hills
The horses in the pasture are slowly strolling around
But today is different
Today is the Kentucky Derby

The quietness of the morning will soon turn to excitement
The pageantry will unfold; the hats, the costumes
The mint juleps and the red roses
The sounding of the trumpets
And the singing of My Old Kentucky Home

Many know nothing about horse racing
The Kentucky Derby horses; they can maybe name a few
We’re proud people in Kentucky; the Kentucky Derby is ours
Come on down to Louisville it’s the Run for the Roses
With open arms we will welcome you

Driving down Kentucky's US 42 in the middle of Spring
It's so beautiful it feels like a dream
Cows in the field the grass so green
Driving up and down the hills taking in the scene
Kentucky's US 42 in the middle of Spring

Cruising past a sprinkling of pinks and whites
different shades of green changing before my eyes
Trees on the left and the river on right
This ride always makes me feel alright
Kentucky's US 42 in the middle of Spring

Every time I look at the keyboard
I see U and I together
There is W and E for We
It's code for you and me
First two lines was a quote I came across; then I just kind of rolled with it

Show me your shamrock
Talk about the leprechaun's ways
Wear your favorite green
Today is St Patrick's Day

Chicago turn your river green
New York have your grand parade
Raise a glass of green beer
Today is St Patrick's Day

Have your corned beef and cabbage
Smashed potatoes and Guinness stew
Kiss someone who says they're Irish
Honoring St Patrick is good for you

Happy St Patrick's Day ☘️

Would you hold it against me if I told you how I felt
Would it be wrong to tell you; if you made me feel like no one else
If I put myself out there and you don't feel the same way
Let me down gently; I can't help it if I felt that way

Let the music play
On the radio
Listen in the basement
The bedroom or car
Let the world go
Listen to the music
Let it flow

Let the music play
On the radio
At the beach
The campfire
It's a party
Let the world go
Listen to the music
Let it flow

Let the music play
On the radio
Under the sun
The moon and the stars
Let the world go
Listen to the music
Let it flow

Looking past the white bark on the birch trees
At the the blue sky
On a cold winter day
I let my mind go free

When you are feeling down
Just look around
Nature has something beautiful to see
Let your mind go free

You only live once
Have your fun
Watch the cats and dogs run
and the squirrels playing in the trees
Let you mind go free

Let your mind go free

Life goes on
You had a spat with your friend
You feel like they sinned
Do not judge, be quick to forgive
Life goes on

Someone broke your heart
They ripped it apart
Someone else is out there and
you are the one they are looking for
Life goes on

You had a rough day
Don't be too proud to pray
The sun will rise another day
Life goes on
Like a beautiful song

Walked off a cliff
And fell into the Vortex of life
Buried in a pile of self pity and guilt
Staggering like a lifeless zombie
Years slipped away with no will

Then the day of reckoning came
Not deserving of the self blame
Given a reason to live
Now living life to the fullest
Realizing that life is a gift
And every life is meant to be lived

Then sing along

The waves come washing in
The wave go washing out
Like so many times before

Footprints and seashells in the sand
You can see near and far, like so many times before
The waves come washing in and out, like so many times before

The sunset rises up out of the water
People gather on shore, like so many times before
The waves come washing in and out, like so many times before

The waves come washing in
The waves go washing out
Like so many times before

I'm a long way from heaven
and a short way from hell
In this crazy world we live in
I'm going to chase my dreams and pray it turns out well

I'm going to keep searching for rainbows
and that elusive *** of gold
I live free, I dream, always trying to see how far I can go
May my enthusiasm for life be forever told

Live Free! Chase Your Dreams!

Like wet sand you are going to fade away
The next best thing is riding on the next wave
Enjoy life and capture the day
Live in the moment, your days are numbered
Don't let them slip away

The sun is shining, the sky is blue
The leaves are changing, what a beautiful view
Open your eyes these days are so few
Live in the moment, your days are numbered
Don't let them slip away

People enter your life for only a little while
Friends fade like the shadows on a sun dial
The precious times become memory files
Live in the moment, your days are numbered
Don't let them slip away

It's the midnight hour
Goodbye yesterday, today is tomorrow
Goodbye pain, goodbye sorrow
It's a new start, today is tomorrow

There is something special about the midnight hour
In the darkness the moon is the guiding light
You pick yourself up and begin to fight
You only live once and this is your life
There is something special about midnight
Driving into work this Sunday morning, listing to the preacher on the radio. He talked about how magical the midnight hour was.

There is a monkey in the window
Sometimes he acts like he's driving my car
Sometimes he hangs up side down form my mirror
or hangs from the sun visor
There is a monkey in the window
I was given a stuffed monkey as a gift a few years ago. I place him in different positions in my windshield. : )
There are times I want to quit
Times I say this is it
But I keep my eye on the prize
Always remembering my why

Nashville is calling me again
Its voice is getting louder everyday
And I find myself thinking about leaving this place
When I hear Nashville calling; calling me again

I have a nice life
A good job and good friends
But when I play my guitar
I start thinking of Nashville again

A long time ago my world came tumbling down
I put my guitar in the corner and for years it did not make a sound
Then my heart was touched and I was inspired
I picked up that old guitar with a new found desire

Now playing my guitar is always on my mind
I'm playing it more and more all the time
And I find myself again dreaming that dream
That Nashville is calling; calling me again

Do you like to hear the birds singing
or the sound of ocean waves
Do you like watching the sunrise in the morning
or seeing it set in the eve

Have you ever been to the mountains
or seen the view from the peak
Have you ever swam in the ocean
or soaked up the sun on beach

Do you remember that feeling of a new love
or remember being as happy as you can be
Do you remember the music that was playing
or feeling that the moment was a dream

OK! OK! I'm awake
You come in here and put your fingers all over me
Some of you go rattling off like a machine gun
Some of you hit me so hard, I feel like I'm going to break
Then, there are those who two finger me to death
I feel like Rodney Dangerfield; how about some respect
Sincerely, your keyboard : )

PS. Thanks for the food crumbs but please keep your fingernails to yourself
I'm an IT guy; I just had a moment : )

On a boat in the water feeling free
Just hanging out feeling lazy
There is no wake in the water
Blue skies and green trees as far as I can see
On a boat in the water feeling free

On a boat in the water feeling free
Nobody is around except you and me
Close you eyes and drift away with me
On a boat in the water, we are free

Cincinnati Opening Day
It's a regional holiday
The Finley Market parade
America's first professional baseball team does it the right way

Excitement is in the air
I like to go downtown and pick up freebies on the square
Everybody is dressed in red or Reds gear
Bands are playing, if you want to have fun; you got to go there

The start of baseball season
You know warm weather is near
Everybody has high hopes that this is the year
Opening Day in Cincinnati, come on down and have a beer

Paint me some spring flowers
Pansies and Crocus; purple and white
Dogwood trees with their, pinks and whites
Paint me some green on the grass and shrubs
On the trees, paint some buds
Paint me a cardinal in a pine tree
A Robin in the grass
Paint me some baby birds in their nest
Paint me a baby blue sky with a few puffy white clouds
and Please! Paint me a big orange sun
It's been a long cold winter
Paint the sun as big as a page
I need to warm up
Spring is already late :  )

There is a paradox in my mind
It has been there for some time
A world with you and I
The paradox in my mind

A world with no hate
Just love wouldn’t it be great
No violence to determine your fate
How does this paradox rate

Yes there is a paradox in my mind
Loving one another is no crime
Setting your egos aside
Life really can be divine

Won’t you think about it; give yourself some time
Is your anger real or something that you lost control of overtime
Let it go, enjoying life is no crime
Let this paradox grow in your mind

Everybody wants to win but that's not what it's all about
The challenge, the competition, that's what brings the best out
A fire starts burning and a passion consumes you
You push yourself harder; you want something

You want that trophy, you want that medal
It would be something to treasure
Once you win you want more
But eventually you realize that's it's the competition that you live for

I watched as a doe and her fawns tracked thru the woods
She leapt over a fence and waited to see if her fawns could
The fawns went up and down the fence line, trying to find an easier way there
The mother waited patiently as if she did not have a care

One by one her babies leaped over the fence
Waiting for the runt, had to be tense
Up and down that fence line he  frantically raced
Until he got the courage to jump over at the same place

The mother knew what her babies could do
A life lesson; they had to learn; that they could do it too
You can learn a lot from nature if you sit back and watch
Be patient with others; they're on their own time; their own clock

Peace love and music
Peace love and  music
Peace love and music
Say loud say it proud

Give me a piece of you
I'll give you a piece  of me
At peace with nature
At peace in the world

You love me
I'll love you
Two hearts together
Finding the truth

I'll listen to your music
You listen to mine
We can both find the rhythm
And enjoy the singing

Peace love and music
Peace love and music
Peace love and music
Say it loud say it proud

I woke up before my alarm clock today
Got caught up on my sleep; it's starting off the right way
It's a good day; It's playing like a song

I started my car and turned the radio on
The radio was playing one of my favorite songs
It's a good day; It's playing like a song

Driving to work all the lights are staying green
Allowing me to cruise along and take in the scene
It's a good day; It's playing like a song

Got to work and saw friendly faces
Thank the Lord; I must be in good graces
It's a good day; It's playing like a song

The job had some up and downs
Problems got solved and I'm homeward bound
It's a good day; It's playing like a song

The sky is clear and the stars are out
It was a great day; this is what life's about
It was a good day; it played like a song

Rosary on the rearview mirror
Guide me as I travel here and there
If I should lose control
Take the wheel; save my soul

Rosary on the rearview mirror
Crucifix I hold in my hand
Lord bless me
As I travel the land

Rosary on the rearview mirror
I believe that you will get me there
My daily travels
My vacation trips
Our Father and Hail Mary's
still comes from my lips

Follow the rainbow
Find a *** of gold
St. Patrick’s Day is here
Put on your green and gold

You don’t have to be Irish
Just wear something green
Have yourself a Guinness
Some Baileys Irish Cream
Or Jameson Irish whiskey

Check out the Chicago River
As it turns green
Only on St Patrick’s Day
Can this be seen

This year there will be no Irish parade
But you can find an Irish Pub
And have a green beer to start you day

Belt out a verse of
My Wild Irish Rose or
My Irish Eyes Are Smiling
On St Patrick’s Day
Everyone in Irish

I found a seashell on the shore
I raised it to my ear
Just to see what I hear
I heard the sea roar
My mind started to explore
I found a seashell on the shore

I found a seashell on the shore
I raised it to my ear
Just to see what I hear
I heard the waves racing to me
It set my mind free and helped me find peace
I found a seashell by the shore, next to the sea

Find your seashell on the shore
Raise it to your ear
What do you hear
How does it make you feel
Find your seashell on the shore, the freedom is real

Tim Emminger Mar 2014
Shy
Knock, Knock
I know that you are in there
Come out, don't be shy
You're not a tortoise don't hide in your shell
You have a lot to offer; come out and tell

Hello, Hello Are you talking to me
Are you really interested; will you accept me for being me
I'm not perfect; when something bothers me, I don't like to say
I like to hide in here and hope that it goes away

Come on out, I'm friendly and kind
Talk to me, we will have a good time
I'm understanding and it's not good to keep things inside
If something is bothering you, you have to tell people why

Smile! Did you feel how good that felt
Now go ahead and smile at somebody else
Make somebody else feel good too

What a gift
It's simple
It's free
And it can make everybody happy

People are good at not showing how they feel
A smile, a kind word or a simple hello, could be a big deal
So go ahead and smile; doing it makes you feel good
and you just might make a difference in somebody else's life

Cruising down the highway the high beams on
The image of driving thru space as the snow falls
Hydroplane here and a hydroplane there
The adrenaline rushing but there is no fear
Six o’clock Sunday traffic is pretty light
Exiting the expressway and gliding thru the stop sign
I hit the accelerator; fishtailing is such a delight
At the stoplight as the snow still falls
Under the streetlight it looks like a waterfall
The light turns green and as I start to go
The flashing slip light is putting on a show
The snow-covered road with its shining white
The appearance of a lighted runway
As I begin to take flight
Heading toward my final exit on downhill *****
I tap my brakes and slip sliding I go
A couple more taps: I navigate the turn
Gliding thru one more stop sign
I hit the accelerator going for a one hundred eighty fishtail turn
After correcting I continue to go
The car moving from side to side as if I’m drunk or ******
Arriving at works entrance I hit the brakes hard as I make my turn
The car spinning around this race I just won.

If I can put a smile on your face
Or make you feel ok
If I can touch your heart
I’m trying to do my part

If I can help you feel love
Know it’s a gift from above
If we can spread that love
Help the world be touched

If we can start a movement
Spread the love
What a world we’d have

Amongst the barren trees and evergreens
The beautiful white leaves of the pear trees
The low lying bushes begin to green
The crocus and tulips at full bloom
It must be Spring
Tim Emminger Mar 2014
Spring is here, the birds are chirping in the trees
New life I already see
Spring flowers are starting to grow
Buds on magnolia trees what a beautiful show

So what about you, take a look in the mirror; do you like what you see
Strip yourself naked like the trees
Take the lead from nature; it's a good time to grow
Let that beauty that's inside you, bloom and show

The shrubs and trees are turning green
Oh the splendor, Oh the beauty do you see what I see
The season showing more color adding to the purple, pinks and whites
Spring is in full bloom; what a beautiful sight.

Driving along the river and nature on the other side
No longer driving in the dark but driving in daylight
Spring is in full bloom; what a beautiful sight

Off on my morning stroll to Pride Park I go
A squirrel dashes from the path, up the tree and out a branch
It leaps and flies unto another tree
The trail has just started what else lies ahead for me

The smell of honeysuckle fills the air
The birds and the crows are all I hear
A little further, a turtle sits in the middle of the trail
Holding its head high, proud to be there

My best friend Duke and I snake around this wooded trail
We take in the sights and the smells in the air
We walk along waiting for the sun to rise
Then arising between the trees, a new beginning right before our eyes

Keeps bringing be back from time to time

Why don't you take a look inside
and tell me what you are feeling
Happy or sad they are all real feelings
Share your happiness you just might brighten someone's day
If you are feeling sad maybe I can write something
so you don't have to feel that way

Write about what you see, write what you hear
Never be afraid to say how you feel
We are all here to encourage one another
You are my sisters and you are my brothers

Take a look inside and tell me what you are feeling
