Good Old Days
Tim Emminger Apr 2014
I saw an old tire hanging from a tree
My mind drifted back to old time memories
Swinging on a tire for hours at a time
I like to drift back to those good old days
When life was free

We used to go down to the river and swing from a vine
Doing tricks that did not work out half of the time
Making a painful splash and everyone had a good laugh
I like to drift back to those good old days
When life was free

Now a days I have to go to work
Pay the bills and deal with life's quirks
Life is still an adventure but without all the thrills
Drift back to those good times I will
When life was free

From time to time I get together with friends
I still run with most of the guys that I did back then
We sit at a campfire and tell the same old stories over and over again
Remembering the good times and wishing we were there again
When life was free

Everyday Is Different
Tim Emminger Apr 2014
Out walking my dog; taking in the scene
Watching the world change
Everyday is different and that's a beautiful thing

I've seen rabbits and squirrels
I've even seen a turtle in the middle of the road
Everyday is different and that's a beautiful thing

I've seen birds in the trees; all kind of different species
I've seen a chipmunk in a roof gutter; I think he was laughing at me
Everyday is different and that's a beautiful thing

I've seen shrubs and trees come alive
I've seen them peek with their beauty
Then I watched them die
Everyday is different and that's a beautiful thing

I've seen people come and I've seen people go
How long they are here; you never know
I always try to make people happy
Help them forget about life and set their minds free
Everyday is different and that's a beautiful thing

No Respect
Tim Emminger Apr 2014
OK! OK! I'm awake
You come in here and put your fingers all over me
Some of you go rattling off like a machine gun
Some of you hit me so hard, I feel like I'm going to break
Then, there are those who two finger me to death
I feel like Rodney Dangerfield; how about some respect
Sincerely, your keyboard : )

PS. Thanks for the food crumbs but please keep your fingernails to yourself
I'm an IT guy; I just had a moment : )

Wave of Opportunity
Tim Emminger Apr 2014
Waves roll in; waves roll out
Waves roll in and leave treasures all about
seashells and shark teeth, a pretty piece of coral reef
Be quick to retrieve before it is washed back out to sea

Opportunities come and opportunities go
Be prepared; when they will come, you never know
If an opportunity is missed; it's OK
Like the sea and it's treasures; catch it on the next wave

Played Like A Song
Tim Emminger Apr 2014
I woke up before my alarm clock today
Got caught up on my sleep; it's starting off the right way
It's a good day; It's playing like a song

I started my car and turned the radio on
The radio was playing one of my favorite songs
It's a good day; It's playing like a song

Driving to work all the lights are staying green
Allowing me to cruise along and take in the scene
It's a good day; It's playing like a song

Got to work and saw friendly faces
Thank the Lord; I must be in good graces
It's a good day; It's playing like a song

The job had some up and downs
Problems got solved and I'm homeward bound
It's a good day; It's playing like a song

The sky is clear and the stars are out
It was a great day; this is what life's about
It was a good day; it played like a song

Happy Face
Tim Emminger Apr 2014
Put on your happy face
and have a great day
Forget about your anger, pain and sadness
Everything is going to be OK

Everybody has problems; that's the way life is
The way you deal with it; determines how you live
One day we look back and realize how irrelevant it was
Whether it was a false accusation, misunderstanding or love

Put on your happy face and have a great day
Learn to talk, be forgiving and understanding
People have different opinions; that's what makes life great
Put on your happy face; think about peace, love and happiness
And have a great day : )      :  )      :   )

Just An Old Hippie
Tim Emminger Apr 2014
I'm just an old hippie
Somehow his spirit has gotten inside me
I'm for peace and love and music
And I like to see my girl in a sundress with a flower in her hair
I'm just an old hippie; I like living free

Some people don't get me
They don't like my long hair
They think I'm just about *** and drugs
And that I don't have a care
I'm an old hippie but your judgment is unfair

I challenge you to read the bible and the teachings of the Lord
Did he teach peace; I believe so
Did he teach about love, understanding and being there for others; do I need to say more
I don't like war; peace and love and music is what I live for
I'm just an old hippie; I like living free

Get Up and Go
Tim Emminger Apr 2014
Get up and go
The clock of life is ticking
You don't know when it's going to strike twelve
The world keeps spinning
It's not going to stop for you

            Get up and go
            Everybody is giving a gift
You are the one who knows what it is
It's up to you, to use it
What are you waiting for; get up and go

Monkey In The Window
Tim Emminger Apr 2014
There is a monkey in the window
Sometimes he acts like he's driving my car
Sometimes he hangs up side down form my mirror
or hangs from the sun visor
There is a monkey in the window
I was given a stuffed monkey as a gift a few years ago. I place him in different positions in my windshield. : )

Wasting Time
Tim Emminger Apr 2014
Have you ever laid on the grass and looked up at the sky
Watched the clouds change as they passed by
Was it a face or animal or maybe a state
Lying there, forgetting about the world, sure is great

Let Me Down Gently
Tim Emminger Apr 2014
Would you hold it against me if I told you how I felt
Would it be wrong to tell you; if you made me feel like no one else
If I put myself out there and you don't feel the same way
Let me down gently; I can't help it if I felt that way
Tim Emminger Apr 2014
Everybody is looking for love
Everybody wants someone who cares
Everybody is looking for love
People are searching everywhere

We all want that beautiful feeling
Someone to touch our hearts
We want it to be the real thing
So we don't have to search no more
Testing out some lyrics. Started playing guitar again and been thinking about chasing some dreams. Appreciate any feed back.

Opening Day in Cincinnati
Tim Emminger Mar 2014
Cincinnati Opening Day
It's a regional holiday
The Finley Market parade
America's first professional baseball team does it the right way

Excitement is in the air
I like to go downtown and pick up freebies on the square
Everybody is dressed in red or Reds gear
Bands are playing, if you want to have fun; you got to go there

The start of baseball season
You know warm weather is near
Everybody has high hopes that this is the year
Opening Day in Cincinnati, come on down and have a beer

The Greatest Band
Tim Emminger Mar 2014
It's the greatest band in the world
They play from shore to shore
The giant fingers move up and down the beaches
The sand is its cords

Sometimes they play violently
Like a rock band
Other times more softly
With the melody of a love song

People travel every year to hear them
Language barriers; they have none
Everyone likes to hear them
The Waves; they are number one

Paint Me Spring
Tim Emminger Mar 2014
Paint me some spring flowers
Pansies and Crocus; purple and white
Dogwood trees with their, pinks and whites
Paint me some green on the grass and shrubs
On the trees, paint some buds
Paint me a cardinal in a pine tree
A Robin in the grass
Paint me some baby birds in their nest
Paint me a baby blue sky with a few puffy white clouds
and Please! Paint me a big orange sun
It's been a long cold winter
Paint the sun as big as a page
I need to warm up
Spring is already late :  )

Patience
Tim Emminger Mar 2014
I watched as a doe and her fawns tracked thru the woods
She leapt over a fence and waited to see if her fawns could
The fawns went up and down the fence line, trying to find an easier way there
The mother waited patiently as if she did not have a care

One by one her babies leaped over the fence
Waiting for the runt, had to be tense
Up and down that fence line he  frantically raced
Until he got the courage to jump over at the same place

The mother knew what her babies could do
A life lesson; they had to learn; that they could do it too
You can learn a lot from nature if you sit back and watch
Be patient with others; they're on their own time; their own clock

Shy
Tim Emminger Mar 2014
Shy
Knock, Knock
I know that you are in there
Come out, don't be shy
You're not a tortoise don't hide in your shell
You have a lot to offer; come out and tell

Hello, Hello Are you talking to me
Are you really interested; will you accept me for being me
I'm not perfect; when something bothers me, I don't like to say
I like to hide in here and hope that it goes away

Come on out, I'm friendly and kind
Talk to me, we will have a good time
I'm understanding and it's not good to keep things inside
If something is bothering you, you have to tell people why

Passion
Tim Emminger Mar 2014
Everybody wants to win but that's not what it's all about
The challenge, the competition, that's what brings the best out
A fire starts burning and a passion consumes you
You push yourself harder; you want something

You want that trophy, you want that medal
It would be something to treasure
Once you win you want more
But eventually you realize that's it's the competition that you live for

Born Leader
Tim Emminger Mar 2014
Why does someone choose to lead, instead of follow
Why does someone push the limits and not live in a box
Why does someone thrive on a challenge and another shy away
I guess it could be taught or could be learned but some people are
just born that way

Smile : )
Tim Emminger Mar 2014
Smile! Did you feel how good that felt
Now go ahead and smile at somebody else
Make somebody else feel good too

What a gift
It's simple
It's free
And it can make everybody happy

People are good at not showing how they feel
A smile, a kind word or a simple hello, could be a big deal
So go ahead and smile; doing it makes you feel good
and you just might make a difference in somebody else's life

Spring and You
Tim Emminger Mar 2014
Spring is here, the birds are chirping in the trees
New life I already see
Spring flowers are starting to grow
Buds on magnolia trees what a beautiful show

So what about you, take a look in the mirror; do you like what you see
Strip yourself naked like the trees
Take the lead from nature; it's a good time to grow
Let that beauty that's inside you, bloom and show

Early In The Morning
Tim Emminger Mar 2014
Early in the morning; is when I like to pray
In the peacefulness of the morning
Is how the Lord and I start the day

Rain or sunshine; I thank the Lord for the day
For giving me another chance to change my sinful ways

Early in the morning; is when I like to pray
In the peacefulness of the morning
Is how the Lord and I start the day

I ask Him for wisdom and understanding
and to help make me a better person than who I am
I ask Him how I can help Him with His master plan

Early in the morning; is when I like to pray
In the peacefulness of the morning
Is how the Lord and I start the day
