Come on down to Louisville, Kentucky
For the Fastest Two Minutes In Sports
The first Saturday in May is Kentucky Derby time
It's the end of a two week celebration; the best of times

The runners race that takes a lap around the track
Thunder over Louisville has fireworks and planes fly past
There is a balloon glow and steamboat race
Where else can you go for a time so great

Now it is race day; an all day party
The insane gather in the infield and they can get naughty
You have celebrities, mint juleps and crazy hats
The Kentucky Derby is where it's at

The beautiful horses parade around
The bugles sounds and  My Old Kentucky Home plays
The excitement peaks; it's time for the race
Dreams of the Triple Crown; the Kentucky Derby is the first leg
The Run For The Roses; someone's dream starts today

Every time I look at the keyboard
I see U and I together
There is W and E for We
It's code for you and me
First two lines was a quote I came across; then I just kind of rolled with it

The shrubs and trees are turning green
Oh the splendor, Oh the beauty do you see what I see
The season showing more color adding to the purple, pinks and whites
Spring is in full bloom; what a beautiful sight.

My drive to and from work is a more pleasant drive
Driving along the river and nature on the other side
No longer driving in the dark but driving in daylight
Spring is in full bloom; what a beautiful sight

Everyday is a new day
A chance for a new start
Everybody makes mistakes
That's what new days are for

Everyday is a new day
The slate is wiped clean
Today you can change who you are
Forget the past, today is what you live for

Everyday is a new day
A chance for you to be who you want to be
Everyday is a great day
A chance for you to change something

Dandelion, dandelions everywhere
Their yellow as beautiful as golden rods in a field
Enjoy their beauty before they turn into a fuzzy ball
Enjoy them now; soon there will be nothing on the stem at all

Sitting on the swing in my yard
Looking out past the fence line a far
Past the trees and the rolling hills
My mind starts wandering; its own free will
Everything is peaceful, when you let your mind go free

People get hung up on things
They get mad and are angered about nothing
Right in front of them is a beautiful flower
Just waiting for them to smell it and
let their problem wash away like dirt in a shower
Everything is peaceful, when you let your mind go free

Now before you lash out with your viper tongue
Ask yourself do you really want to hurt someone
If you have done something to cause someone pain
Do whatever you can to make it right again
Everything is peaceful, when you let your mind go free

I saw an old tire hanging from a tree
My mind drifted back to old time memories
Swinging on a tire for hours at a time
I like to drift back to those good old days
When life was free

We used to go down to the river and swing from a vine
Doing tricks that did not work out half of the time
Making a painful splash and everyone had a good laugh
I like to drift back to those good old days
When life was free

Now a days I have to go to work
Pay the bills and deal with life's quirks
Life is still an adventure but without all the thrills
Drift back to those good times I will
When life was free

From time to time I get together with friends
I still run with most of the guys that I did back then
We sit at a campfire and tell the same old stories over and over again
Remembering the good times and wishing we were there again
When life was free
