“Why don’t you write me a love poem?”
I’ve tried
Again and again I try
But I don’t have the words
To write her a love poem
I don’t have the words
To describe what her eyes do in the sunlight
I don’t have the words
To tell her my heart races
Every time she looks at me
I don’t have the words
To explain how her smile,
Her laugh,
Her presence,
Makes everything seem okay.
I don’t have the words
To say I’d do anything for her,
That I’d go to the ends of the earth,
That I’d do whatever it takes to make her happy,
That I love her.
I’m just not that good a poet.
