SHE
A small drizzle
Emphasizing that it' is
The remnants of a heavy downpour that had lashed
The road

Water going down
The slopes getting together
To merge with each other
As it is Its character

Walking down the *****
Trying hard to contain the legs
Loosing balance as it lunges
Till it finds its level

A woman walking along
Dressed in white
Shirt and a pair of jeans
No other soul in sight

Saw her on the descend
Handled it like a ramp
Gliding to a waltz
If a Rolls Royce had walked

Gazed at her
Drizzle treating her equally
Not partial to her although
She adds to the rains beauty

Drizzle showed its stripes
Deluge using it as a pawn
Rainstorm in its true form
Looking for cover my last thought

Her walk in the middle
Looked like the rain fell in love
Followed her where she had to go
Realising that she too walked slow

No hurry to beat the rain
Every time she crossed het hand
Across her mane
Divine forms both met on a slippery lane

The scene from a film
Antonioni would have filmed
He'd have one job less
The frame he would have found was already perfect

Just captured it
Filmed for eternity
Wouldn't want her beauty
Wasted on a memory

My thoughts would
have run wild
Not this time
Didn't want to waste time

Why think about her
A romanticised future
When she is here
Just enjoy how she adds to nature

Wanted to grasp
Into my heart
Every step of her walk
Rain splashing on the road giving room for her toes

The rain continued
To tango with her
Trying to keep pace
To her beauty and grace

Whispering in her ears
Humming she couldn't hear
A medley it composed
Downpour set to a tune

I watched knowing
Something special was happening
Picturesque like a Van Gogh
He wouldn't have cut his ear off

I stood still
As she walked up the *****
As easy as a snap Zeus had clicked
Framed on a wall in Mount Olympus

Reached the top
Knew it was the last
A sight to behold
Wrongly presumed though

She wasn't humming
The humming birds were flapping their wings
Sending signals her trust to gain
To not trust the rain

She stood for a second
Turned back with a smile
100 million bucks won't win
It for you
If Sotheby's were to auction

Walked down the hill
Rain the birds and rest
Standing still missing a beat
Flapped harder to fly the rain stopped leaving to dry

Michelangelo Antonioni directed  called on by the Cosmos
Captured by Luciano Tavoli
Decorated by Van Gogh
Score by Nino Rota

No spoken word
Not a silent film
The words lie in the beauty
Captured by the silence
That was absent

Seeking her she is lost
Rain and the birds knew it all
I evidenced it  to narrate to all
How do I put it in words for i am at a loss

At your wits end
Just dodged a bullet
Gates remain closed
Catch 22 situation

Grasping at the straws
Last resort exhausted
In dire straits cought in a vicious cycle
Misconstrued and
Misconceived

Fumbled regularly already
Darkness in the alley
Gave it your all
It wasn't meant to be that's all

Adds more misery
When others are doing it easily
What you cannot do once
People repeating it habitually

Do not waste
A thought on the other
They knew how to conquer
You don't and it don't matter

Until you see them
Their existence not aware
If you do see them
Socially be decent

Dice with death
Coming out of this strech
Sailing close to the wind
Reaching ashore is by itself a win

Beware the way
You want to react
To anything that
Takes your dreams away

Any reaction or perception
Is alright given the circumstances
Only one should be avoided
The one that can get most easily addicted

Self Pity and Self loathing
Focused on the  replaying syndrome
Fantasy and Reality juxtaposing
Feeling bad about the situation

Self pity a drug
Addictive with no respite
Absorbed in the rejection
Feeling sorry for self the concern

Focus only on yourself
Will marginalise you
Hoping things could have been better off
Future and past will be the same

Self pity is destruction
Of the Soul
Nothing more worse
Than feeling sorry for yourself

Tend to ignore
Others and their problems
Selfishness interludes till
It engulfs you

Alienated from others
So absorbed in oneself
Failing to  try
Or even for a recess

Ingratitude and Apathy
Denial playing victim
Expecting only Sympathy
If not received delving further deep

No one noticed
You are hurting
Obstacle to yourself
Negativity inflicted overflowing

Best way out
Treat it as a blessing
That nothing is happening
Blessed don't feel sorry

Use it to grow
Now you know
What not to do
Greatest lesson rejection can teach

It is the easy way out
Easy never got anyone anywhere
Take the hard road
Face it face to face and say Thank you

Withdrawal effect will
Last many years
Teetoatteler to self pity
Is by not taking yourself seriously

KV Srikanth Apr 2022
Serenity that the night
Brings with it
Enjoying the solitude
Alone but not lonely
Surprised at it
Crack of dawn
The sky being lit
Making darkness fighting a loosing battle
Taking along with it
The tranquil it brings with it
Is my imagination going haywire
Trying to make sense
Out of a fantasy
Nights lived through many
Sleep not protecting me from it
Travelled the nights awake
Doesn't make much difference from the day
Perception a leftover of the emotion
May bring in a new variable tomorrow
Treating the night differently
The night remains the same
Darkness playing the dual role of joy and sorrow simultaneously
Waiting for the genesis
A new day to begin with
First light at the break if day
Break a leg i wish myself
Eventful or routine
Is routine eventful
How will it play out
Night will bring the results
Of the how the day panned out
A million thoughts
Playing the crossword
Trying to complete
Using life as the clues

Life playing out
Like an Hitchcock film
Master of suspense
The audience know
But the characters don't
Like a character from his film
Giving importance to a macgugffin
Triggered events
But no more important
Unable to differentiate
Between the macgugffin and the real detail
Causing all the suspense
Making life intense
The protagonist figures out half way
I haven't yet done so
How deep am i
Only the director is aware
Hitchcock once said
The film is almost complete
I just have to shoot it
Showed his preparedness
Who is directing my life
Hadn't shown a script in my sight
Even filming it a suspense
Like solving a riddle
Don't know what the puzzle is
Keeps varying day to day
What is the game and how should I play
Hoping to get an indication
To know the destination
Where life is heading
****** can be now
Or decades away
Hopefully not chasing shadows
In a blind  alley along the way
Wonder if it is
A case of mistaken identity
Are we the intended target
Or assumed for some one else
The plot thickens
As the ****** nears
Is the ****** near
I still have a lot to figure
Do i have to figure
I'm not sure
Like Hitchcock does
In his films
Playing a cameo
Who dons the cameo
Directing everything seen in the screen
Did i miss him
Too caught up in my daily rhythm
Have to wait till the end
Pieces fall together
Everything that pretends
Masks removed and identity revealed
How many masks am i wearing
Hitchcock never made a sequel
Can be sure
It all ends here
That gives a breather
The suspense is too long
Enjoying as a viewer
But struggling as a performer
Have only one wish
A magic lamp if you wish
If Bernard Hermann
Is writing the Soundtrack
I would love to hear it
Before i come back
Eager to know
What he would have composed
The background score
Makes it more memorable
Copyright to the music
I share with all
Not because I'm large hearted
But i know the score will make me immortal

A lone traveller
On a trip
I don't know where
The destination is
Drifting along where
The waves of destiny
Take me along
My uncle my mentor
Passed away
A couple of weeks back
Reiterated the fact
That i have no clue
What my future has
Planning predicting and preparing
There of the greatest vices
Detoxification centres required
To rid me of this habit
Facing withdrawal symptoms
Intensity not reduced
Corrected myself of
Not living in the future
Based on the dreams
That play in my head
Self sufficient are those
Who stand alone
The others follow in a crowd
Am i self sufficient i don't know yet
Trying to be in that process
Still work in progress
Not excited not scared
What is tommorow going to bring
Even tomorrow does is not aware
Of the events lined up within
An engine pulling the carriages
With no rear view mirror
I dont await  it
For I'm not sure
If iam in it

Entered a club
At the age of 8
Table tennis being played
Even 8 was delayed

Witnessed pure magic
Seeing the greats practice
Knew something special was happening
Grateful that i was in the audience

Blessed to see the players
All achievers one way or the other
All time greats taking their place
Opportunity to observe pure god's grace

Greatest classroom to attend
So many lessons to comprehend
Every player a teacher
Their conduct the chapter

Winning and Loosing
Attitude towards them
What it takes to win
How lives evolve within

Sportsmanship at its pinnacle
4 tables an Oracle
How empty you are
Decides how much they fill yours

Players winners
Champions and legends
All in the same den
Learning from each other
Lessons out of every counter

Doesn't come easy
Play till go crazy
Biggest lesson of integrity
Equanimity and humility given as bonus daily

Lessons free of cost
Just by observing them i got
Single minded dedication to the sport
Not winning still a sport

Elite not by any other measure
Except their sweat that dripped on the table
Wiping the table with a cloth
Knew what sacrifice was

Today it serves me best
When in doubt i look back
Memory helping to recall the facts
Implementing them i realise how tough they were

Indebted to all
Equally for allowing
Me to be
Part of the elite
Front row seats
To see Greats and greatness
Merging
Feat very few could have claimed to see

A small building
Housed on a small street
Outside hanging a small board
Going in as an amateur and a boy
Come out a champion and a man
Mylapore Gymkhana the wizard
Magic wand its players
Stood the tallest in the World
