Color
Sherri Harder Aug 2022
Some people only see basic colors like red, green, purple, yellow, and blue.
There are millions of each shades that I see within each of the hues.
Teals, cyans, golden colors and even black, greys and white.
Clouds can be lace, cotton, milk, ivory or snowflake bright.
Teals are in between blues and greens.
There are over millions of shades of of those in between.
When I was a kid and wanted to color or paint hues.
The lack of crayon choices in the boxes would seem quite few.
We live in a world some see as white and black.
Color vision is not something
I lack.
I have to wear polarized sunglasses at times to block out the sun.
Too much visual light can give  me a  headache. Not fun.

Focus
Sherri Harder Aug 2022
I like to focus on one task
at a time.
As each poem I
do rhyme.
I don't like a lot of abstract theories
over analyzed.
Mumbo jumbo talk is a headache with conversation paralyzed.
I don't mind the chatterboxes that have a lot to say.
Just don't give me rambling about a million other points of views all day.
Focus on what you think, stop stuttering with your thought.
Get it out slready.
Time is ticking.... tik tok!_
Like drums have a beat and words have a rhythm too.
Words put together can be confusing without structure hue.
Somestimes people say things that make no sense.
They seem scattered, hyped up and act all tense.
Focus on what you want me
to hear.
Focus on what you say.  I have no problem with talkers,  I just like them to be clear.

Captivating BC Summers
Sherri Harder Aug 2022
The scent of lake water or fresh
ocean breeze,
nearby forests of moss, pine, juniper and
summer green leaves.
the birds chirping, singing in trees.
The summer sun sparkles its spotlight
across the lake.
Live, explore, hike, swim....
the day is yours to take!
This land, in awe, so captivating with
mountains majestic;  "oh can't you see?
Awake, and adventure in beautiful, summer of

Strength to overcome
Sherri Harder Aug 2022
Rising up from the tears
I've cried.
Surviving storms from heartbreaks
tried.
Obstacles that have been;
I now erase.
Once again, I find
my place.
The sad world we live in, I cannot
defend.
Some won't take a helping
hand, some fake and just just pretend.
Where is our honor and
chivalry?
Where is compassion that we
cannot see?
Everyone is in it for themselves.
We're not ornaments....
out on shelves.
I will not conform to that...
"No way!"
Better to kneel to God
and pray.
For He is the only truth and
way.
"Oh Lord guide me through each
night and day."
As I break free from doubts that try
to tear me apart;
I know my faith lives on inside me...
never to part.
I know where I have struggled through,
who I am, and where I came from.
in the end, I always know that through Christ
I have the strength to overcome.

Be the best that you can be
Sherri Harder Aug 2022
In this life you'll find there many
heartaches and pain.
Some people stay and many go to
never see again.
Don't let the ones that leave, ever
bring you down.
Be the best that you can be, and turn
around that frown.
Its okay to cry sometimes, for it shows
your human empathy.
It helps to recover from social sadness,
or anxiety.
Just be the best that you can be.
You don't always have an answer;
don't be afraid to look.
Life is like a journey,
not a perfect storybook.
Don't be afraid....don't let
people walk all over you.
Keep it real, keep
it true.
Keep your self together and head
held high.
Don't be afraid to show emotion.
Its okay to cry.
Let go of anger, grudges and
the pain.
You'll see the light of who you
are again.
You will find and you will see....
that you can be the best that
you can be,

My Journeys Path
Sherri Harder Aug 2022
I take to path and walk my
journeys road.
I with thee, take what I need
of burdens load.
Through forest pines adrift,
towering to the sky,
with mountain castle walls nearby, I put
aside my fears to appreciate what's here.
Breathe in breathe out so fresh...
the crisp, cool...daunting air.
My journeys path; a humbling stand,
I am in awe of thee.
God's precious landscape.....camera in hand,
I hike and be so free.
His splendor artwork fills the air
and not forsaken.
For I walk the journey with the Lord as
I take the path less taken.

Castle Walls
Sherri Harder Aug 2022
Castle walls I've built
within my heart.
Castle walls lay ground to
tear the enemy apart.

Knights in armor;
guarding me well.
No ocean currants or armies
can near me dwell.
The armor I wear,
many do not see.
Its my protective shield...
in faith, I'm free.

Castle walls built higher
over the years.
Some guards let down,
yet no more tears.
Castle walls of armies,
not of brick.
In my mind, through walls....
can't trick.

My knights fight at command
with high, majestic sword.
The battle won with mighty truth...
of God's word.

Grey Novemeber
Sherri Harder Aug 2022
Its been a grey November,
the summers over now.
I just can't remember ;
memories turned
to frost,
with what now
is lost.

I just can't remember how in this cold,
I've numbed everything.
I don't recall what warmth of sun
shall bring.
Is that feeling lost
forever?
Is that lost all
together?

Shadows fade in and out
from the glistening sun.
Memories ....like a loaded
gun.
They shoot in darkness...
in the mountains;
pictures taken with cascading
waterfalls and  fountains.

In grey November, by lakes and rivers....
my have things grown cold.
Frosty sunsets and pale skies...
and icy truths be told.

In the cold grey November.
Don't want to remember...
Grey November!
I open windows to feel
the air.
I really don't
care.
I like the freeze of arctic....
chill on my skin and chill
to bone.
Memories for now, half turned
to stone.
In the grey November....
until I remember...
back to September...
when I know that I am loved:
Through December, and past winter
and forever part of me.
I know I will be eternally loved.

Through the grey November...I'm
where I want to be.
I am free.
Through the icy storms...
I won't succumb.
I have always and will forever...
overcome.

Even through the chill of winter, I am set free
through grey November....I did not bow.
Through grey November... I am me...
I remember now.

Adventure BC
Sherri Harder Aug 2022
So many trails and places
to see.
In this beautiful province of
captivating BC.
With popular hikes packed, don't
let it despair.
There's plenty more trails through
the wilderness air.
Through rivers, streams, and forests,
we go:
from day hikes to camp nights....
we get to know.
Through mountains some climb,
and carefully tread, through  elevations
so high, we know we're not dead.
Snow capped veils in winter that
sparkle and glisten;
to the summer green juniper, moss, veridian
meadows and trees.... stop, look and listen.
Forests chant out with birds whistling and
echoing a tune.
The eagle soars high,  ducks quack, and the
sound of the loon.
Breathtaking views, from mountain tops
and roadway stops;
some places travelled with outdoor concessions
and souvenir shops.
From the  north coast and of wild forests' pines
and tall spruce to see.,
to the south pacific of ocean beaches and shores
to roam free.
From east of the Rockies...like majestic
walls stand,
through west coast island, and country side,
forests ......our land!
Adventure BC;  "come, see what this place
has to explore!"
"There's no province , country, or state, that
I'd rather live more!"
From rural, urban, sea to land in
the province to be.
"Come, explore for yourself,
Adventure BC!"

Tides Are Turning
Sherri Harder Aug 2022
Verse 1:

The sea of broken hearts can't
keep me down for long...
As I sit by the ocean dock, trying
to write my song.
The tides are turning for the better,
I can hear the sound.
I can hear the rhythm dancing...
I'm turning things around.....around....
around.

Verse 2:

The sun on the water, that ripples
to the shore...
I look out to the surfers trying to catch
a wave once more.
The tides are turning, I can hear it
saying..."Let's dance"...
turning, swaying, "come on, (come on)"
and take a chance.

Chorus:

The tides are turning---- the tides are turning---
the tides are turning....keep me on the rise;
like the ocean waves splashing,
I won't compromise.
I was ten feet under, now I'm
holding on....
From my heartbreak and misery, I'm finally
moving on.

Knight in Shining Armour
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
Take me to your secret gardens,
through your castle walls.
Sweep me off my feet sir knight.
on your horse- don't let me fall.

Gallop through the kingdom of
your enchanted forest, green;
fighting for my honor,
be the hero to be seen.

Holding on so tight, as you
hoist up your sword so high.
We live to see another day,
not time for us to say goodbye.

Then as we ride into the kingdom,
with emerald gardens to adorn,
kiss me in the moonlight dusk,
and hold me til the morn.

Take me to your chambers,
where we can together, be.
Run your fingers gently through my hair
with the hands that caress me.

Goodnight my knight in
shining armor, so gallant, bold and brave.
These castle walls of thine heart,
have broken down for you to save.

The Tides are turnin'
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
Chorus: The tides are turnin
and keep me on the rise.
Like the ocean waves,
splashin' - I won't compromise.
I was ten feet under, now
I'm holding on.
the tides are turnin'
I can feel this battle won.

Verse 1: The sea of broken hearts,
can't keep me down for long.
My pen in hand as I sit by
the ocean dock and write my song.
This tides turnin for the better,
I can hear the sound.
I can feel the melody,
that's turning things around.

Chorus: The tides are turnin
and keep me on the rise.
Like the ocean waves,
spalshin'  I won't compromise.
I was ten feet under, now
I'm holding on.
The tides are turnin'
I can feel this battle won.

Verse 2:  As the sun shines on
the water, and ripples to the shore.
I look out to the surfers, trying to
catch a wave once more.
The tides keep dancing,
like a rhythm trance.
the tides are turnin' I hear it
saying "take a chance."
turnin, swaying,
"come on, let's go!"

Chorus:  The tides are turnin'
and keep me on the rise,
like the ocean waves,
splashin' I won't compromise.
I was ten feet under, now
I'm holding on.
The tides are turnin'
I can feel this battle won.

Verse 3:  Don't stop, don't give up.
I will soar like the eagles looking down.
I will bury that old doubt,
and let it drown.
The tides are turnin'
as the dolphins swim, I can feel
the passion burnin'
No- I won't compromise, I won't disguise.
I'm here now, standing tall upon
the shore, I rise.

Chorus:  The tides are turnin'
and keep me on the rise.
like the ocean waves,
splashin' I won't compromise.
I was ten feet under, now
I'm holding on.
The tides are turnin'
I can feel this battle won.

Where do I begin?
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
What do I begin to say?
A starting line, like a new day.
Do I simply say hello?
Will you let me know?

Like once upon a time?
Like in a fairy tale rhyme.
Do I write a poem or a quip?
Will you laugh or will you trip?

From the memories we shared,
do I write a story for you?
Do I speak what's on my mind?
Tell me darling, before the
night is through.

Do I send you a love letter,
sealed with a kiss?
Do you think of me or of me
even miss?

Where do start?
Where do I begin?
I want to be your babe,
and in your heart, to win.

Lend a helping hand
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
When will we learn that
we cannot hide.
From fears and doubt,
time to cast away our pride.

No time for foolish thoughts,
or for regrets.
Let's try to forgive, and in love,
let's place our bets.

The time is ticking
on the clock.
No time to waste, or in
each other mock.

Cheating lying, gossip...
"oh this has to stop!
Does it really matter,
who is on top?

There is room for all of us
to play.
In this world, as we go to work,
and teach the kids to pray.

No time for bullying
or calling names.
No need to ridicule,
as some people like to blame.

Let's pull together to take
a stand.
To help each other and
lend a helping hand.

The Poet
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
Sometimes nothing is as it seems.
It may appear like nothing but dreams.
Like a novel, a story, or mystery.
Might not always be happy, but misery.

Enchanting, captivating, thrilling or mesmerizing.
I can sure read, and always been good with memorizing.
reading, writing, spelling,
marketing, wording,  and selling.

Like a game of chess, one wins on one side,
like the ocean changes with tide.
As to the novel that reads out in due time.
As can poetry rhyme.

Can be a quip with few words--oh what the hell!
Perhaps  a story with witches and wizards casting a spell.
Some ring true to others and others do not.
from copy written lyrics through court battles some fought.

From poems, to letters, a story, or script,
to rhyming, signing, telling or reading lines--do not skip!
From astrology, psychology, genealogy too.
A history pattern developed and a story plays through.

As art to a painter, as student to teacher.
As buyer to seller, as in scripture to preacher.
like a role played by an actor, as a craft that they learn.
like fire is from matches on to paper that burn.

We take on different roles that we write, not just one.
Whatever the story or memory be, it can be fun!
Some are serious, some not and some just with humor.
'Poetry is like magic'- "Oh that's just a rumor!"

Sometimes like a fantasy, or a dream state illusion.
To decipher a code within words, to break up confusion.
Like a detective that finds clues, and puts pieces together,
as to the bride and the groom who stays married forever.

From seasons, to passion, from faith we write.
from heartbreak to storms and the ghost stories that fright.
As the pen  is to the paper, in language we know it.
As the rhyming or feeling soul of the poet.

My words take flight
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
Onward into the misty, dawn of morning day.
I walk through the enchanted trails that guide me
as I pray.
No more can plots against me stand.
I came to conquer, like a knight that battles
for his  kingdom's land.
No more can jealous envy of enemies prevail.
I say and thus declare...
"they fail!"
With my breeze swept hair, into the sunset glow.
I move onward with each step,
I further go.
No more from slander, can it hurt me from grudges.
Let them feel backfire onto them
that judges.
With my armor scratched, yet I hold high
my sword;
I conquer through the castle wall's of time,
as I take my pen to write this word.
Goodbye enemies that whisper secrets
behind my back.
Your power fades as wisdom, knowledge
lacks.
For I got up, no more headaches and no
more pain.
I learned how to defend my honor, and turn
loss to gain.
I enter the palace through enchanting gates,
of purple gardens adorn.
Flowers bloom, yet not
with thorn.
I cast them out, i cut them off.
No more weakness,
I can be tough.
I have long ago grieved and now
bury that crown of yesterday.
I rise from the past that tried to destroy,
from the bullies and nay sayer....
I move onward each day!
One step at a time and
with my protection through day and night.
I soar like an eagle as....
'My words take flight.'

Learn to love
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
I used to wonder when I was
young,
why people bullied, acted strange,
and some so high strung.
I grew up to be thankful for
what I had.
Better than others,
better than most.
Some didn't have bread on the table,
or even  a place to toast.
I would say my prayers before I
went to bed.
"Thank you Lord Jesus, for food to eat,
and a roof over my head."
I grew up in a world with
'black and white.'
Taught not to hate and not
to fight.
Yet at times in this world,
I see;
a mother on the street, and her
homeless child staring back at me.
Some fathers are drunk and can't
pay the bills.
Some guy  on drugs, and the only thing he gets,
is a needle in his arm that he fills.
Some kids more quiet and
a little shy.
Some kids stand up to bullies, while
some run and cry.
It doesn't matter what your skin color
is or hair.
What your job is, or what clothes
you wear.
Some go to work each day with
so much pride.
As if they are better and their masks,
they hide.
That boy that challenges another to
jump and hurt themselves on a dare;
he doesn't think, maybe he
doesn't care.
The girl who teases another that
some say 'is no good',
Maybe she is struggling at home,
or people misunderstood.
Some people ******, ****,
and destroy;
not in the one who pretends to be,
yet is a decoy.
In Christ alone we need to put our
trust.
Can we learn to focus on what's real,
and forget our lust?
We need to mend.
We need to forgive.
Help others defend the weak,
perhaps to truly live.
When will people stop hurting others;
abusing drugs, lying, cheating, and other cruel stuff?
When will we realize, what we've become
in this human race? When is this enough?
We have to change.
This has to stop!
Before we fall , and our
nations drop.
A boy at school got hit from a car,
out on the street.
That driver never paid attention; and to him,
that boy he will never meet.
The pain some cause and names do hurt,
that some kids call.
It can affect that kid, the one that's thinking
of suicide down the hall.
The lies, the rumors and false judgement
can hurt, that some people spread.
Some are misguided and like to gossip.
Don't let it go to your head!
Some are in gangs and some are pimps,
as money doesn't last.
Some men take advantage of that young girl,
that they want in bed, and move way too fast.
For the ones who cough and lungs hurt
because of cigarette smoke:
it's better for your health to quit.
It's not a joke!
So you wonder why we're losing a battle
in this world, not won.
You won't be laughing, if that robber
pulls his gun.
Stop, look, and listen...
straight from the heart.
Maybe the one you ignore today will tomorrow
be the one who stumbles or falls apart.
So when the world or social media,
that suggest you do hurtful things, and such of;
can we stop the hurting, causing pain,
and learn to love?
Learn to love, and use
your voice.
Learn to love, you have
a choice.
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
I once again write this poem in time,
as the hands tick with the clock.
To take a stand and declare, that surely
"Redheads Rock!"

Blondes may have some fun, and
brunettes can put up fight.
Now we come more bold and brave,
as our flags wave "Gingers Unite!"

Don't think we will be bullied.
We will defend our honor as our duty.
Too all the coppers, golden, orange,reds...
and to I - the "Auburn Beauty!"

Forgivness
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
Forgiveness is the greatest gift of all.
When we do something wrong,
yet someone catches our fall.
Like a parent that loves us unconditionally.
Even after we make mistakes,
they are still there to be.
Forgiving is hard to do, when we are so hurt.
some hold on to grudges,
and very few others would lend out their shirt.
When we forgive we show love in a strong way.
to show we can stop this cycle of hatred,
and continue each day.
Just as Jesus shed his blood on the cross for our sin.
We can too be examples of his love,
and with forgiveness- we win.
Don't hold on to the past of what someone else did.
for we don't see their struggles,
or the demons they hid.
We can choose forgiveness, and this --might need faith.
We can ask God for guidance and in his
love -bathe.

Moments
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
Moments are filled up with good and bad.
Sometimes happy, sometimes sad.
Some rather forgotten and some remain.
Some scattered with words of anger and pain.
Moments are full of ups and downs.
Don't let anyone tell you different, or play the clown.
The ones that lie and manipulate,
the ones that make you think twice or hesitate.
There is always room for our improvement.
We are human, no need for this positive movement.
When we are perceived as what's negative,
We are not batteries charged, we're people who live.
So to those who want to live in smoke and mirrors.
with a plastic smile and well kept fears.
Don't tell me everything is all coming up roses.
Life is not perfect and some time grief imposes.
You do not have to be happy all the time.
Being sad or shedding tears is not a crime.
Its how we take those moments and memories in mind.
we pick up our feet again and find.
Those scars that heal that teach a lesson or more,
will remind us that we can move on and be stronger than before.

With the tide
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
With treasures lost at sea,
forbidden places we see.
I take your hand, as we explore,
along the beaches tides that soar.

As dawn sets in, as sunlight fades,
soon the sky will set its shades.
The water rushes at our feet.
We come together as our eyes meet.

You gently hold and hug me tight,
as we still gaze at each others sight.
Your fingers strung through my sunset auburn hair,
as I take a breathe of  sea swept air.

Then firmly pulling me so close,
with waters with the sand between our toes.
You grab me firm as we embrace,
your hand then lingers on my face.

You take my breathe away with just one kiss.
Along the ocean's tide of bliss.
With this passion, I cannot hide.
As you take me in - Oh with the tide.

Your way of loving me
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
I know the way you love me
by the way you hold me tight.
You make me feel like I'm the only
girl in sight.
I feel it in your hug and feel
love in your embrace.
I see it in your smiling eyes, and
feel it in the way you touch my face.
When we're apart, there was a time
that I would truly miss.
The passion you would spark,
from just a lingered kiss.
Your way of loving me, not
always vocal, but I know its there.
Just like the summer beach blown
breezes that are in the air.
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
When I was a kid I didn't like waking up
before afternoon,
except for a Saturday...'Let me
watch those cartoons.'
I watched 'Smurfs' and 'Transformers',
to say the least.
Also 'Disneyland' shows with talking
tea cups as in 'Beauty and the beast.'
As an adult I know 'Racoons' really don't talk,
in the way we can tell.
Now there is 'Harry Potter', wonder if
he can really do spell.
Forests and fairies and trees sometimes
dance.
Also in, 'Wizard of oz,'  the yellow brick road
was given a chance.
Like magical kingdoms with mountain
tops with peaks at their highest.
With fairies looking like little people....
Oh my.... now there's Anthropomorphism at its finest.

Not afraid to take a stand
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
Not afraid to take a stand.
Not afraid to publicly declare.
I love the Lord with all my heart.
The devil loses in his snare.

Not afraid of being bold, not afraid
to pray.
Not afraid to read my Bible,
It's the word of God... 'Hey! I'm just saying!'

Not afraid to keep on learning,
even as a christian, could learn more.
Not afraid to admit that I am not perfect,
but only God will keep the final score.

Not afraid of standing up for truth.
Not afraid to die.
Not afraid to tell it like it is, even when
Satan's deceiving with his lies.

Not afraid of darkness,
not afraid of light.
There is only one true light--
His name is Jesus Christ!

Not the one who masquerades or will
come to manipulate.
Not the one who pretends to love,
cause underneath the devil is
of jealousy and hate.

Not afraid to live my life.
Not going to let people dictate what I should do.
Not afraid to take a stand
for Christ, because only Jesus sees me through.

Ring leader writer
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
Whilst writing a thought of a poem ot two,
shall I write what I've learned or
a memory hue?
Some rhyme, and some not, like
'again' and 'hen.'
Others write and rhyme with
'again' and 'pain.'
It's not about how you feel inside all the time,
or how you relay words.
It can be merely painting a picture, like art
and to be free as the birds.
So as art taketh on slopes, colors
that which creates a scene;
just like some sentences play out
like an enchanting dream.
Like a stroke of a paint brush, pencil and
shading of an art, gum eraser;
some with pen,  carved out like a sculptor,
with words whispering to paper.
Together they bind when put into thought,
whilst some rhyme and some flow;
some stand bold without rhyme,
yet still quite a show.
Just as a ring leader at a circus
commands their stage.
I write and close off for today,
with this new crafted page.
So if you don't like my poetry,
then please do not dwell.
I shall  bid you good night and to
you a farewell.

Winter Harmony
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
I hear the mountains calling
my name as it beckons me to come.
I feel the winter chill through my bones,
with a kiss from the gentle, smiling sun.
Day dreams capture my mind with the
peaceful, sparkling snow.
Dazzling my senses with tingly shivers that
I have learned to know.
Mountain caps veiled beautifully, glistening
like a majestic crown of earth.
Echoes of laughter fill the air, like a new
adventure to rebirth.
Going up, the adrenaline rises, as the trees
are passing by.
Winter beauty all around, whispering...
'it's time to fly.'
Getting off, I'm ready now.
To the mountains, with thrill elope.
I am set free like a bird who flies, as I
go to carve the mountain *****.

Breathe of Victory
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
I've fallen so many times Lord.
I've kept trying it mine own way.
I've kept searching in wrong places.
With your word calling me to obey.
I don't always have all the answers, and
I know you try to show me.
When dark clouds of fear and doubt
restrain me from really being free.
I feel like sometimes, I am drowning,
and not sure how to get my air.
I know you warned of trials and that
life's not always fair.
I know sometimes, I am losing one too
many battles as the enemy closes in.
With peoples constant lies, manipulation,
that takes its toll on me, its harder to always win.
I am trying harder to swim.
My scars once stinging from the devil's
snare.
Like a deer in headlights;
too unfocused and unaware.
Maybe drowning is the answer, and death may
cut me like that rose from yesterday.
When the road of life gets weary,  I then
bow to you and pray.
I may be strangled by the wire of a
connection, maybe not from you.
Like that old telephone cord still dangling on a
deserted highway booth, that I once traveled through.
In my dreams last night, as I saw the clouds and heard
the thunder, beckoning me to go out and explore;
the rain and wind still on my skin....
daring me to want more.
When I got too close to the edge of that cliff, that
makes me want to jump or do something so abrupt;
I woke up from dreaming, before the ink from
my pen dried up.
I felt a peace wash over me of knowing that ,
through the storm, I will prevail.
Like the wind at sea, that through a boat-
drifting too far to sail.
I wake up with a tear, streaming
down my face.
I know I am not perfect Lord,
thank you for your grace.
I know some things, that I have to
take in stride.
To leave it in your hands God,
and cast away my pride.
To let go and let you help guide me; cause not I, not man,
or anything survive without you Lord Jesus.  I do see.
Only with you Lord God... Is there
true victory!

It's a ginger thing
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
We are bold, fearless,
strong and brave.
It's just a myth; from us , your soul,
you need to save.
We rise up from the north, the south,
the east, and the west.
Some prefer blondes or brunettes,
but 'Hey! Redheads have zest!'
Not that we're saying we are
the best.
We're not all that bad.
It's not all that dire.
Just because we have embers like
that of a fire.
Our manes like a sunset flow with
rays of copper, auburn, and reds.
Don't be afraid...folklore and some
stories have gone to some heads.
For so long, some ridiculed, teased,
or some treated of an outcast.
We finally now say that,
'We're here to last!'
Some say we're like a rare unicorn,
to say the least.
Rumor has it, our tempers flare up.
Can you tame the beast?
More confident with time,
as our scars quickly heal.
We too are human,
and gently do feel.
We may come together now
in great multitudes.
Doesn't mean we are vain,
or have mean attitudes.
We have been known in history, for some
bad or good luck that rumors have spread.
We're not all witches or creatures-
don't let it go to your head!
Just because we are the
color red.
We come from all over now, and stand,
and together unite.
In harmony and peace, our
flames do shine bright.
So throughout the world we speak out
against bullying some bring.
This letter- I sign, seal, and declare... is
a mere poem called... 'It's A Ginger Thing!"

Jesus love Wins

Jesus Loves you so much.
He died on the cross for your sins.
Ask him for forgiveness and repent.
For with only Jesus, the battle wins.

There once was a girl named Sherri.
She was writing a poem, not scary.
She had auburn hair.
Her skin pale and fair.
She is definitely not ordinary.

Learn to spell
Sherri Harder Oct 2017
Everyone starts counting...
...one, two, three.
Just as they write,
starting with A, B, C.

Ever notice a rhythm,
as in words have a rhyme?
Like a clock ticking;
tik, tok, tick within time.

Learning to read and learning
to write,
as a kid, I could spell,
but math and arithmetic
gave me a fright.

Words can be fun
and broken apart.
Like a game of chess,
or a puzzle, okay now
where do we start?

Jesus draws near
Sherri Harder Dec 2015
I'm walking through storms, shadows
and fear.
I'm fighting the daunting, memories
that draw near.
Like phantom ships sailing and
lost into sea.
Like ghostly images from a movie,
longing to be free.
Walking through the dimly lit
night sky as the fog and mist clear.
I stop all of a sudden, with a
silent whisper I hear.
I choose to forget and keep
moving along.
Yet the angels they whisper that
heavenly song.
I then stop at a park bench to
bow my head and pray.
"Oh Lord will you help me?"
I suddenly say.
As I bow my head and tears
start to fall,
I wonder if I to some other than God,
even matter at all.
Lost in the wreckage of confusion,
sadness and despair.
Like a car rolled in a ditch, on a cold
icy night, with a chill in the air.
My eyes burning from mascara
that stream down my face.
From the tears that I cried and
exhausted like I was running a race.
I look up to the mountains and then see
a star in the sky.
The moon beaming down brightness
as I let out a sigh.
I listen to the peace echo no noise.
I realize then , that I have a choice.
I pray to God and know he is
trying to tell me to focus on
Him.
For the battle can only be won
for the victory is Jesus that will
already win.
I get up and walk through the dark
streets back on my way home.
A smile begins to unfold as I know
I am not forever alone.
So when the devil attacks with doubts,
lies and fears.
Keep looking to Jesus as he draws
you back and wipes away tears.

Let's Make A Difference
Sherri Harder Sep 2015
Does anyone see our deepest struggles?
Do most even care when in pain we cry?
The battles to some invisible and cannot see.
Some hurt and take advantage of one another
then act like it is okay like this to be.
Why can't most hold out a hand to lift
each other up?
Instead of provoking and watching
as some in anger erupt.
Can we learn to be more kind and caring in this
human race?
All it takes is you to make a difference.
Let's start by encouraging one another to
show more gratitude and grace.
Instead of beating one another down to
cause sadness, fear or intimidate.
Let's make a difference and grow by showing
more love than hate.

His Amazing Grace
Sherri Harder Jul 2015
I'm beginning to see  light at
the end of the tunnel.
Don't stop now - you pull me through
trouble.
I yearn to see your face,
full of His amazing grace.

I keep seeking your truth
when I'm lost in the shadows.
I can run free from the storm,
when I'm in your green meadows.
I know you are always there
and you call out to me.
To hold your hand and to walketh
with thee.
To trust in you and not fear like Psalms 23.

You make me feel alive.
With you I can survive.

I'm beginning to see a light at
the end of the tunnel.
Don't stop now- you pull me through
trouble.
I yearn to see your face,
full of His amazing grace.

I will forever sing your praise
and love you each and every day.
I will always search your voice and
bow to you and pray.
I hope to you I find
this song in heart I rhyme.

I'm beginning to see the light at
the end of the tunnel.
Don't stop now- you pull me through
trouble.
I yearn to see your face.
Full of His amazing grace.

When I shall pass
Sherri Harder Jul 2015
This life may seem a mystery
now and some will not understand,
someday I will be heading home and
not of this foreign land.
Some will cry and some will mourn,
but as truly as this can be,
Just look up and know that I will be much
happier and my soul set free.
So when my time hath come
and only God to love and fear.
I shall not remember this place,
and be with God and new family
so dear.
So when this life is over in the meantime
do my best,
to search Him in scripture and in Him
I seek my rest.
When things on earth are painful and
things seem to go wrong,
I will remember Jesus and trust
he'll keep me strong.
For I realize that this time here
is only temporary and will not
forever last.
I will yearn to seek Him and hold my
angels hand to walk when I shall pass.

Good morning God
Sherri Harder Jul 2015
The freshness of the morning air
and the shining of the sun.
Glory to God for this new morn,
for another day hath begun.
With the beauty of the landscape,
and freshness of the dew,
Let's praise God together as
we begin this day anew.

Is that too much to ask?
Sherri Harder Jul 2015
Is it to much to ask to be treated with respect?
I get confused when people say they love you
then stab you in the back.  What ever happened to
dignity, honor, and loyalty?
I hav'nt met the one who will steal my heart.
Maybe that just does not exist anymore so far as I
can see.  I would rather be alone than with a man
that has none of these qualities.  Is that too much to ask?

God's campsite
Sherri Harder Jun 2015
Earthen soil covers the ground
as the campfire crackles with that
sparling sound.
The sky twinkles with stars like
tiny little glow bugs.
The sky blankets its love with warm
summer hugs.
A breeze so gently whispers and so not in vain.
The creation of God is so beautiful as
He's calling my name.
To explore new paths and trails and
outdoors run so free.
I remember the campsite I shared
it with thee.

Emotional abuse
Sherri Harder Jun 2015
Never feel sorry for what you feel.
Always keep your feelings real.
Never apologize for others mistakes.
Learn to **** out all the fakes.
If you get hit by someone its not your fault.
Some relationships need to halt.
Bruises heal and the mind takes time.
I'm trying to guide those here by rhyme.
Don't get hooked on anyone's charm.
It may not last and can do harm.
When someone yells, bullies and calls
you names.
That is wrong, don't be ashamed.
If some never apologize and the lack empathy to you refuse.
They play head games and this is called emotional abuse.
So do not feel sorry or let your self become depressed.
Go put on a smile and go get dressed.
You deserve to be happy and never this way.
For those who suffer this fate....please get away.
I am not saying leave everyone that do these things read up above.
Some make mistakes and still genuinely do love.
Some are only going to bring you down,
Instead of happy times, mostly frowns.
When they hurt you and tell you to many  lies.
Maybe time to say goodbye.

Honesty
Sherri Harder Jun 2015
Honesty is being real and not being fake.
Its about being open with yourself,
and more than give and take.
Honesty is not telling all your secrets
to everyone on the street.
Its about sharing truth to what is asked
and is a great and honorable feat.
Honesty is being loyal when you say you will fulfill.
Honesty is keeping promises and not blabbing
them at your will.
Honesty feels love and shares so openly.
Honest people learn to cherish and feel
so much empathy.
