Samantha Cunha Dec 2019
my body ravaged by the
snowstorm, the winter breeze,
and the red wine on my
night stand made of gold

when the bath soaks
my sins, and drowns them
away, the needle
is still sharp and the
words still cut deep
Samantha Cunha Nov 2019
We awoke asleep
in an empty home,
his eyes were adrift
and unearthly
my eyes were forlorn

In a transient moment
of uncertainty,
the answers came
bestowed upon my
third eye open,
my first eye shut

The palm trees are swaying outside
the motel, and it's night time again
We sip the coffee to stay awake,
and write our woes
into the sand

We speak out loud to practice
the words, and create poetry
with our bodies entwined
beneath the blue moon

Your love is like black coffee,
strong and hard to take
it fades away when the new
dawn rolls around,
and albeit wavering
like an elusive flame,
I still feel it all around
Samantha Cunha Nov 2019
The darkness still resides,
and I visit it from time to time
but I no longer live there,
so address your letters
elsewhere
Samantha Cunha Nov 2019
the only truth
lies in energy,
music,
and poetry

Feast of friends,
feast my eyes,
feast my heart
on bleeding love
and i kiss the stars
drink me up like
cherry wine,
kiss me goodnight
and call me divine
for i feast my mind
on your gaze,
and i feast for you
when all is a haze

Grateful forevermore
for the trees,
the roots which ground me
to the present moment
the sea,
which calls for me
when change is needed
the sky, which
blinds me on some days
shining so brightly, to remind me
to dream a little more
dream a little wilder
the stars, illuminating
my darkness and exploding into
a million small pieces, reminding me
of the beauty in chaos
I am thankful for it all,
I dance once more
around the revolving sun
and bless my mind
- for when it comes undone
i have these words
to write once more
and the dreary winter
has much in store
