In the distance, the hills are filling with fire
the ash falls upon his hair, like a halo
I think I'm in heaven,
I heard it's on earth
it ain't about doing all we can to reach it one day,
for
heaven is within us, the fire is all around us

I recall all the roads, but never
the destinations
the last stop on the train, the one often forgotten
the last call in the bar, when the bartender looks at me
with those eyes- those eyes, you know the ones
forlorn, as if I won't have nowhere to go
but he doesn't know that there is nowhere
to go, but everywhere
the last dance before he says goodbye,
the last song on the jukebox often skipped,
the wind blowing us apart in the early winter,
the trees decaying
the poetry pumping in my veins, pouring words onto
the page from some day I can't quite remember
I recall all the roads,
but never the destinations

Unrequited love, my
oldest, longest, and dearest
of friends
We meet once again,
where the bend
curves, like the shape
of my body illuminated
by the moonlit shore,
you're grasping me tightly
oh, unrequited love
you sing me a twisted melody as I lull to sleep
you hide in the shadows ready to grasp me once more
unrequited love, please let me go!
unrequited love, no, never let me go
we meet again
at the tides in the erratic sea
and the waves wash over
you and me, washing
our sins into the morning rise
and once again, we bid goodbye

His eyes wild
the nights electric
the humming of cars passing along
the streets void of light
ring into my ears
impenetrable, voltile noise
framing the silence between us
he has gone mad again,
there's poison on his tongue
there's white powder dripping
,dripping,
dripping from his elongated nose
he smiles wicked
his eyes wild
he's gone mad again,
I still drink him up like wine
and the glass shatters,
there's blood on the sheets

I dreamt of you again,
lost in deja vu
impenetrable silence hums
in my window pane, luring me into
the world I often tried to escape
there's a road which never ends
there's a light which never shines
there's a you
who is never here
I dreamt of you again,
fifth time this week
i will meet you again
when my mind drifts off to sleep

I found him in the dark
alley on a lonesome
Wednesday night by the East river
Drinkin beer with his friends from
Forever
the boys who drink out of a
Paper brown bag and smoke parliaments
on their stoop until the night turns to day
And they can’t fill their minds
With liquor anymore, so instead
They take the metro down to work
Well, I felt like in that moment
He was exactly who I needed him to be
He made me feel alive
and electric
And bought me beer
until the bartender said
"no more"
We kissed until
My mouth turned
blue
he never let me out of his sight
cause he knew if he did, I may never return
i laid on him like nothing else mattered
It was only us in the red booth in the back
Of the dive bar
it felt like 1985
He read me poetry
and lit a joint
I said I don’t smoke
But I made an exception
His eyes lit up the entire room
When morning came,
I knew we wouldn’t feel the same
When the sun rises
And the liquor dries
It never feels the
Same

Motel six
Six doors
Six locks
Six mirrors
Six realms
It feels like the cursed
Linger in my blue bedroom
There’s a surfboard hanging
Above me
There’s a darkness hovering
Around me
There’s six places
I could be
There’s six people
I could become
Motel six
Six doors
Six locks
Six silver
Spoons
Six bottles
Of honey
Whiskey
Which he sips, while
Slurring my name
And callin’ me pretty
Knowing he will
Leave
When the sun rises
Motel six
