Wish to Know

A man bumped into me on the street.
He looked an awful lot like myself.
He didn't bother to apologize,
Instead he went on to say:

"Those who are anxious for  the future are afraid to die. Then there are those who dwell on the past. These people are afraid to live. Nothing quite feels like the present, it's ashame too few experience it."

After that he disappeared into the crowd of people.

I wonder if my time machine has a return policy.
(It doesn't)

I met a scarecrow today.
He made me look him in the eyes
And tell him 'things will get better.'
My first reaction was to lie,

So I told him what he wanted to hear.
I've never met a scarecrow born with fear.

He didn't look very satisfied
With what I had to tell.
He said that he couldn't believe me
If I didn't believe myself

And with that he sent me on my way.
I've never met the scarecrow since that day.

Do you think you're clever when your not? Do you think you're funny when you've got a lot to learn? Don't be scared when your burned out. A human doesn't die until it refuses to open it's eyes. A human doesn't die until it loses sight of the horizon. The rain doesn't stop because one person cries. A clock doesn't still for empty space to be filled. Seconds die while everyone tries to race to the starting line. Don't die before you're time. Don't lie in the wake of a passerby. Or go ahead. No one really cares whether you've bled. You're not here, upon any, to impress. No one else is responsible for your happiness. Go along, if everyone else thinks you're wrong in the head, and you believe them, you're already rotting. And in the end, I think I'm clever, but I'm not.

I'm losing hold on something I can't touch because a few thousand miles comes between us.  And as though it weren't enough, weak will yearns to lust.

I will never learn to rectify myself or try to justify myself. I will never turn to anyone else. This burn is my own unbecoming.

And no one should fuss over me.
