Deliverance
Bonita Babu Aug 2016
A volley of gunfire
A stream of offensive epithets.
An amazed girl
And an enraged boy.
After every volley of gunfire,
There was a respawning individual.
Steam could be seen emanating from his ears
Anger radiated off of him.
The girl watched carefully
Taking note of every action.
The sounds of battle could be heard
And the boy kept getting aggressive.
Innovative and anatomically impossible suggestions were made
Names were called and yelled out
And the game continued
“I effing stuck him” was repeatedly yelled.
Finally, after a long rant,
The boy jumped with ecstasy
In the heat of the final battle, he won.
Now he wouldn’t have to fling his controller
The girl applauded him, thankful for the blessed silence.

I Am Enough
Bonita Babu Nov 2016
I am not perfect
I am well aware of that
But I know that I am enough!

I am good enough
I am smart enough
I am enough!

I am pretty enough
I am nice enough
I am enough!

I am polite enough
I am educated enough
I am enough!

I am faithful enough
I study enough
I am enough!

It is not my responsibility
Nor is it my duty
To prove myself worthy of your high opinion.

You are the insecure one
And you take it out on me
That is your shortcoming.

One day soon, you'll regret it all
As I walk out that door
And I never look back.

I am ENOUGH
And it is high time
That you saw it!

I am Me
Bonita Babu Aug 2016
I am not beautiful
I am not skinny
I am not a genius
I am not popular
I am Me.
I am not rich
I am not a debutante
I am not flirty
I am not you
I am Me.
Don’t try comparing me to things
I am unique, the only one who is me
If you don’t like me,
It is your loss, not mine.
I have no time for those who want to bring me down
I am out there living my life
The society does not like me?
Well, I have no need to please them.
I please my God and myself
Nothing more, nothing less.

Dreamland
Bonita Babu Aug 2016
The girl closed her eyes,
Listening to the voice of her mother.
Within seconds she fell asleep,
Transporting her to the land of dreams.
There she was welcomed by a boy,
He was her guide and friend in that land.
Her showed her lollipop trees and cotton candy bushes,
She was told to eat to her fill.
She ate some and saved some more for later
And she was shown fountains of all kinds of soda.
They played with talking cupcakes
Ran with multi -colored bubblegum
And swam in vanilla milkshake with flying Oreo dolphins.
She had a lot of fun and her face was glowing.
As she was asking her friend about more sights,
She felt herself being pulled into the air
She looked down at her friend
And he was waving at her.
She closed her eyes and opened them
And she looked into the eyes of her mom.
It was time for school.

Moments of Ecstasy
Bonita Babu Aug 2016
A smile of yours makes my day,
Your laugh sends chills down my spine.
Your hugs make me dance for joy
But your kisses; your kisses make my heart palpitate.
The minute I see you, my heart ceases to function.
Every second spent with you is my undoing.
The minute I am in your arms
I feel like I have finally come home.
When you kiss me in front of everyone,
It feels as though you are saying that I am yours.
When I lay down next to you,
My world is complete and I am at peace.
The love you show, humbles me
And your protective nature melts my resolve.
Your hugs, kisses, caresses, and words
These are the times when I have my moments of ecstasy!
