Death has a cousin
She's always by my side
She never strays
Or tosses me away
She gives me all her time

Death has a cousin
She's always with a smile
Even in the dreariest day
Or when things don't go my way
Her love could make the sun
Shine through the fog

Death has a cousin,
She's always on my mind
When I wake up and when I sleep
When I close my eyes and try to dream
Her face pops up in front of mine
I see her eyes and they're not kind

Death has a cousin
I didn't know when asked to choose
That sometimes it's the sweetest flowers
That are poison to innocent fools

The city buzzes with life
A colorful facade
Walls exist to hide
And the traveler stays alone
Mohammed Nov 2020
I wrap the dark around me
I could ill afford
A change of weather
But the morning sun speaks to me
Urging me from my slumber
And begging me to live
Mohammed Nov 2020
My actions are not sudden anymore
I move slowly, without conviction
No heat behind my fire
And no joy behind my words

Outside the window
There is greener grass
There are beautiful people
And love made to last

Outside the window
Is ambition and greed
What some might call evil
And what all humanity needs

Outside the window,
There is life beyond compare
There is happiness, desire
And a heart beating there

Outside the window,
Is all the things I cannot have
I try to look away
But my eyes do not obey
And all I am left with is despair

The sun scorching my skin,
I climb ever higher
Treading on countless worlds,
I want to know more about you

Obstinant, you put up walls
I push through them, careless of the consequences
The sky turns dark, and I get lost in you
I slip and fall, but you catch me
You hold my hand, and I am safe again

Your rage is felt against the Rocky shore
I wade into you, and you push me back
But you recognize me, and I feel you soften
As you rock me gently to sleep

Untamed, never fully known
Sometimes gentle, often deadly
You have a mind of your own
Perhaps, it is impossible to know
But therein lies the adventure

Home, you are not
Nor, as some would claim, are you paradise
Why, what paradise would **** and entrap so many of it's children?
No, you are not divine
You are grounded
In the soil beneath our feet, the wind at our backs
The moss on the trees, and the waves warring with the reefs
In these isles, I see adventure
In you, I see life
I went to Hawaii with my friends during Spring Break, and I was blown away by how beautiful everything was. The nature there was completely breathtaking yet somehow very intimate.

The dates break free from the tree
To Bury themselves in soil
Deftly, the farmer's hands toil
To uncover the Earth's bounty

Nature's reward
Turn to shackles that bind
A once plentiful harvest
Yields sour fruit

Green and fertile
Its whispers
Draw in the vultures
And invite tragedy
