For me
Was getting to see
Your lies become known
And your prisoners free
Now you sit in the cage
You created in rage
To make someone else suffer
Your lies on the page
Have become your own cage
When you thought they would make you
Some sort of a sage

This is the time of the
Cleansing
Where audacity
And hypocrisy
Comes to the light
Though many will stay in the dark
Insisting that they are right
They will be the *****
Among the clean
Convinced their filth
Is pure and pristine

I think you’re an insensitive ****
And also a hypocrite
Too
You should also get over yourself
If you assume this poem is about you

Stop saying you are pushing him away
Because you care too much
And you don’t want to break his heart
Liar
You push him away
Because you want him to beg you
To let him stay

Guys who wear a certain type of sunglasses
Turn me off
It’s a very specific type
But there seems to be no redemption
Because he’ll always be
The guy in THOSE
Sunglasses
It’s not his fault
And it’s not fair
A sunglass style
Makes me beware
But association
Can’t help but compare

Better be careful how you treat me
I can eviscerate you
Through poetry
A timeless critique
Of you
By me

This is me
Resisting the urge
To say
"I told you so"
To your face

Gypsy rebel
Never level
****!
And then, she’s gone
Yet still remains
Her spirit
In almost every song

Your biggest gripe with the world
Is that you’re not permitted
To walk your dog on the beach
And yet
There you are
Griping

The signs were there
Chipping paint
Hard to read
Then they became
Persistant
Hard to ignore
And now they're trumpets
Blaring at your ears
But still so hard to see

Hundreds of memes
Recycling fortune cookies
Acting like they’ve got a big
GOTCHA
Never before thunk
Thought
But since there’s a picture of
Kermit
We really do get got

Be doubtful of assumptions made about
People
You don’t particularly like
Your view is skewed.
And you are probably blind to it

Maturity is when you finally realize
Boredom is a privilege

You worship for the reward
When it should be solely
Appreciation
“Thanks for everything
God
But you owe me extra
Because I have worshipped you
Nobody worships perfectly
But for my imperfect worship
You owe me”

Thinking big thoughts
From a couch
Is a lot more productive
Than it used to be
This
In itself
Might be a big thought
From a couch

I know you've been hurt before
It's unfortunate
What you went through
But stop treating me like I'm
Deceptive
Because someone else lied to you

I see you dangling there
At the end of your rope
Holding on for easier times
Holding on for hope
They will come
As they tend to do
I wish I could make it easy for you
But if you put the work in

I promise it's worth it

Everyone is shining
Coming out with greats and
Memorables
Days like today
No rhyme or reason
To days when poetry flows
So easily
One more oxymoron
We don’t know we see

If I told my story
You would think I was
Exaggerating
Even if I was playing it down

They are heroic

Has it’s place
I suppose
But none of it flows
It’s choppy

Walking up spiral steps
To reach a low attic
Sometimes it’s yep
Most times it’s a nope
But when it’s a yep
It can be really dope
Easy to read
Is not usually
The goal of poetry

Racial tension and injustice
Answered by the internet
With hundreds of memes
Of old white guys
Teaching young black guys
How to tie ties
Well now
That makes everything all right
It’s not like they’re  really
Sending the message
Black kids have no father
Or social grace
And some white guy needs to
Step in to replace

You didn’t break my heart
You taught me to
Protect it
Thanks
I guess

You aspire to
Stand out
Turn in assignments
Comic sans font
For it to be memorable
Being different
Yet your work is
Mediocre
There's a lesson in there
Somewhere
Gimmicks are the refuge of  the
Mediocre

Times I felt whole
Times I felt broken
Times I felt like a diamond
Times I felt like a token
Times I felt smart
Times I felt dumb
Times I felt it all
Today I feel numb

I fail to see
What you want me to see
We only just met
We're like on second three
But you think I wanna be
Arguing with you
Over a political party
And some hero you have
Who lacks dignity
You're already wrong
When your vibe is ******
And all you can do is throw insults at me
I have no time for your perceived
Superiority
I'd prove you wrong
But you'd never believe

Took him to the playground
Run around and wear himself out

But then, I got to playing
With little man

He's wide awake

If you wrote a poem for me
It would be beautiful to see
Even if it was angry

I don't think it would be
Though your draw was

Overly interested observer

People come here

This place is so drama-free

Every night
He sits in his car for a full
Twenty minutes
Before going into his house

Getting old
Upcoming change
What smoking does to my health
That my grandson took a ****
When his mom will be home in two minutes

All of the stories are about the exceptional
Half are better
Half are worse
But nobody is interested
In the mediocre
Which is ironic
Since most of us can identify

Ego got the best of me
So I'll turn it into poetry
All the things we think we know
Resist with force to being shown
Performed my little dance and song
But you were right
And I was wrong

They call her “**** tease”
Because she is flirtatious
For two seconds
Without wanting
A night long commitment
Supposedly
It’s her fault that they

Ahead of reality

Getting used to the dad on you

Who isn’t a good father

Rewarding them
With something they lack

At first
I thought writing poetry was personal
My feelings
Just mine
Written and brought out
But now I see it’s
Really got nothing to do with me
It’s the reader who feels it
That makes it poetry

We have gotten quite accustomed to being
Strangers
I only think of you once in a while
I prefer it
Than to forget you, entirely
The good things about you
I try to take with me

When I am near you
I am lonely in a crowd
Complaining is not allowed
An insult, to you
When I’m not happy
Your esteem is attached
To my mentality
And this is how it came to be
That you only know

To attack me

But maybe it could be
If you bothered to look you'd  see

But your announcement about it
Must've been painful
When you had to note
Nobody noticed
Your micro tantrum
About how you're going away
Forever
And maybe a day
Not one measly comment
Asking you to stay
I suppose that explains why
You're done with this place
Goodbye, lonely one
Be on your way

There is no “forever home”
For a person with
A disability
And there is no control
Over what happens to me
Maybe I have never had any

No choice
Fleeing
No voice
Or destination
Just heading out
Somewhere
As quietly as possible
Leaving behind
All that was possible
To find a new story
While taking the old one with
Uncertainty is better
Than steady decline
It's best to get off before the drop

You are so smart
And I love that about you
But please stop trying to prove it
You don't have to use obscure words
To advertise that you know them
Be smart enough to know
Intelligence is not measured in
How many words you understand
But in how good you are at using
Words to be understood

You are my biggest "fan"
You seem to love my poetry
And since you're so amazing
I like what that says about me

Ironic
The ones that trend
Never feel like
The best I’ve penned
Maybe mediocrity
Is what makes things
So trendy

Do we care about the people we hate
More than we care for those
We love?
We seem to pay them more
Attention
Particularly when we can find a
Group
To hate with
And commence the circle ****
Of insults
That get increasingly crass
Or the stories
Increasingly daft
Before you know it
The one you hate
Is eating babies.
Or pretending to have them
And you don’t know
What your loved one
Ate for breakfast

You tell yourself you flirt with the “ugly girls” to give them confidence
And you seem to really believe it
Which surely affects
My confidence in you
And your assessment of
Ugly
