That is enough

So many things without which
Would be a big deal
Assumed
Reliably
What could anyone hope for
More than necessity?

My daughter is so much more
Beautiful than me
And she looks like her father

In it’s way
For me to be able to say

You are knight-like
In your soul
With too many parts
Out of control
Wicked wild
Crazy and fun
Seat of your pants
Hide your galliance

You came at me
Like you thought I needed saving
I was wanting a roll in the hay
Maybe both of us were wrong
But it won’t go down
Either way

Fresh cake batter
Made from scratch
You are the spoon
To lick
Temptations tease
Of the feast to come
But spoon to lick
There’s only one

Spark of creation
Unvoiced
Forgotten
Creation
Like honey
Does not go rotten

What could’ve been
Would never apply to us
You’d have to be a different person

How do you tell someone
“That seems like the first draft”
When they feel like the thing is done?

The winner of the argument
Is probably
The one who does not want to argue

I was born in Massachusetts
But you put the Boston in me
Adventures by land and by sea
You’ve been gone a while
But the Boston in me
Will always be

It will be the easy way
Or the hard way
So simple
Yet so complicated

It was something that was meant to be
You being you, and I being me
Supposed to be temporary
But lingering
Relentlessly

Looking at your dad’s

We both said “EW!”
EMPHATICALLY
“That’s something I will never do”
Call it rich or call it cheap
There’s a word I didn’t keep

Better than who she was willing to see
She might have been you

Lonely while surrounded
Sometimes
Wishing for the match
Rhythm to my rhyme
Desperation
Maybe
But not enough to settle for just
Anybody
There’s a certain
Specifically
Beat to me
The rhythm
Maybe only he can see
Whoever he is
To dance with me

Progress is near impossible
Stuck in the
Poor me
Big bogs
Buggy bug big bogs
Over-filled with frogs
Croaking painfully
With sore throats
Pooaaaoooaaaeeeeaaaaaooooor meeeeeeee!

I prefer a natural high
Smoke a little ***
All I crave
To get by
Lucky me
To be
Almost mostly free

Each poem
Stands on it’s own
For what it’s worth
Beginning to end
It remains
What it’s worth
Changing
Perhaps
Through time
Some tarnish
Others shine

Halfway
Is average
Far enough
But nobody knows
Where they are
On their
Path
Death could come
Anytime
Anyway
And take halfway to
Finish
In the course of just one day

My guy won’t be the type to ever say
“I’ll die for you.”  
He will say, “I’ll get us both through.”

True genius
Seems to be
Annoying
People get overplayed
Especially the best
Become a cheap joke of themselves
Being best
Lends itself to characatarichsaurs
An ancient, magic mirror curse

I’ve
Started a poem
Then picked a boogar
On a two year old
It could have been an interesting poem
But the boogar was more important
And maybe it boils down to
A boogar on a two year old
Few more things are more pressing
Than a boogar on a two year old

Simple and ignorant
Are nothing alike
Simple is genius in disguise
Ignorant is
Dummy on display

The demons
In your dreams
Only happen
When your dreams come true

Keep ya chin up
Boo
Give willingly to the inevitable
Find a new dream
If you have to
Time tested and true
May no longer apply
Unless you really want it to
And I think you’re that kind of a guy

And weak
But growing and healing

My weakness is people who feel sorry for themselves
I don’t like to see it in me
Thus
It annoys me in others
I also dislike those
Who don’t appreciate their blessings
Particularly
When they are particularly
Blessed
The particularity
Of it all
Blessings are not overly

About who they visit

Too beautiful to look at
To stay so mesmerizing
Seeing doesn’t work that way
But getting used
To looking at you
Takes longer than anyone else
I ever knew

Sometimes it is a curse
To be a blessing

Much loved
Rain
No less important
Under appreciated
We hide from rain
And it still comes to bless us
Despite our rejection
I love you too

The high balcony
Far enough away for me to be
Anonymously
Lady teaching toddler about sidewalks
So beautiful to see

A cry into the void
Whether it be warrior
Or defeated
Most often a lonely
Call
Of the proud
Either at high
Or low
Pure emotion
Into the void they go

C’mon Baby
Bring me there
You know where
On the journey from
Your mind
To mine
And maybe back again
Created with a pen
And then it takes me back
A thousand times again
Begging for attention
Never enough
There will ever be
You are like a drug to me

Weaken the whole
Both sides
I suppose

Rarity is a dime
A dozen
The human condition
Priceless and cheap
Each unique
Yet somehow
Predictable

A history of subjugation
Via impossible circumstance
Is not a negative
It is pride
To have survived intolerable
Circumstances
Brought about
Against your control
Having slaves for ancestors
Only means
You had some badass ancestors
Who thrived in intolerable
Conditions
Pride.

Rock my brain

Of the main vein
Give me tingles
Make me wish I was there
Connection via thin air
Through your poetry
You can bring you along
And I will bring me
It’s magic, really

I give you the power
To do that to me
Oh so willingly

Human part in there
Somewhere
Your ego so fragile
You find it a fault
Being fragile
Fragility is the human condition
We all break
Some of us
Find people to fix
One of the few ways
To heal from a break
Some refuse to break  
Hold whole to a bitter end
The recovery rate from an almost break
Is much more grim

Where ever

I may be

Sometimes I can really bring it
Other times
Tapped
And then
I try to write a poem about that
All the wack and wonderful
To be drawn about
And here I sit
Tapped out
Inspiration hardly ever comes
When it’s begged for
So I sit here
Feeling like Eeyore

Second rate outperforms
Sometimes
When Nature is being friendly
Walking is preferable

I admire your dedication to your beliefs
I think your beliefs are dated
And ridiculous
But I admire your dedication
Nonetheless
Perhaps you should admire
Me
For not sinning
Even though I don’t believe

Antarctica is the only continent that doesn’t
Have ants

Somehow
That is poetic

At one point
Long ago
I thought you were the smartest guy
I ever did know
Now
Years down the road
I read our old messages
And see how much I’ve grown
What a fool I used to be
Falling for those tired lines
And lies
Yet, I can’t help but be so **** happy
About all those lessons you
Didn’t mean to teach me

I get by on a technicality
Occasionally
But isn’t that the mark of writing
Creatively?
Especially in poetry

I worry about you
Incapable as you are
Of soothing your storms
Into a fit in a second
Unable to get over it
For hours
Anger sends you out of control
Escalation is all you know
Everyone present a target
So everyone goes away
I don’t think that it’s likely
You’ll grow out of it one day
