Everything matters
These words their meanings
And the hope behind them
Friendship its bond
And the love it brings
Your health my health
Mental and physical
Our loved ones
Your loved ones
Really anyone you may deal with
These things matter
Strength to take on each
Individual day
To find brightness on
The dark days
Little things,
Matter
You matter, to me
Five years of sobriety
Five years of honest hard work
After that call me
We won't go get a drink
But I will make you
Dinner.
If you feel that I matter

Alright folks stay with me now
They are the X'es
We are the O's
We operate on a
Place called the public board
The X'es occupy these amount of squares
The O's have always taken the area over there
I point this out but most bystanders
Really don't care
Now, it's a bigger board cut up in a certain way
The X's control these parts until a certain date
Then a majority vote will turn those spots to O's
There are those inbetween but, they cant swing the vote
Back at square one,
stay with me now everyone
We are just learning the ground rules
And back to front the shell game goes
Who were the X'es and who are the O's?
And those in the middle are often gray
But our side is right
Upon the board we play

She was free traveling
From LA
Up the west coast
To the AK
There was no hurry
No real plan
Visiting friends
On route to
Ketchikan

(Chorus)

Along the coast lines
Most of the time
The dreamy sunsets
The waves talking in ryhme
Bonfires at night
Strong breeze all day
While on her journey to the AK

She left nothing behind
Just her mother's memories
She never thought of her father
While on escapes like these
She never looked back
Just moved constantly
To the  last frontier
Called  the AK

(Chorus)
Along the coast line
Most of the time
The dreamy sunsets
The waves talking in ryhm
Bonfires at night
A strong breeze all day
Along her journey to the AK

When she arrived
She went to my cafe
That's when I met
Her in the AK

She told me about the coast lines
(Remaing chorus)
Most of the time
The dreamy sunsets
The waves talking in ryhm
The bonfires at night
The strong breezes at day
And her arrival at the AK

Every one is passing through
Like Numbers on a calculator
Your number will come up soon
More likely now than later
The Boss is sitting in a chair
Rubbing his temples
His seat maybe high now
But too easily topples
Slamming fist against a locker
Him and his wife are over
***** or Bill's it's either one or the other
They'll burn through the newbies
Let them work the hours
And those disgruntled old boots
Just complain to one another
You're just passing through
They'll find some one to take your place
Your badge will be passed to a brand new face
Here's a small thank you
a little money
Every month
It gets taxed subtracted and hardly worth
The life and time you gave up
Figure it out
it's not too late
Don't become someone everyone hates
Keep your sanity
Save a soul
That of another
Or your own

Have you ever heard the babbling of a brook
The sound of rushing water against a rock
The chittering of animals when a predator is near
The crashing of rifles dropped in fear
A clock ticking and ticking louder each tock
A countdown to an explosion never to
Erupt
Buzzing insects near ones ear
It is the idea of the blood letting that causes the mind to slip gears
Children crying
Cats meowing
Dogs howling
The asylum at night
The elderly in nursing homes begging for family or
to be set free from the walls
With no where to go they'd wander the streets
A distant memory
guides their feet
They will find no home
But silence at last
on the empty street
The humm of street lights
begin
But the illuminating light
Does not mean
the end

She'll never grow older than
That day
I'll never need my space
Or turn her away
I'll never kiss her lips
Or gaze deep in her eyes
Again.

We won't walk hand in hand
I'll never see her smile
at my
Dad jokes
I'll never
smell her hair
Or trip over her ****
Eat her gourmet cooking
Or her pork and beans

She'll never realize
Her dreams

Our daughters will cry
At the drop of her name
I'll never look at her side of
The bed
the same
There will be nights
When her warmth isn't there
And I'll wish she'd whisper
Sweet words in my ear
But I've inherited
the wind
It's been quite  a loss
To have lightening in a bottle
To just have
it suddenly
lost
I'll never be the same
And she'll never
age
a day
