Can I please hear it
Just one thump of your heart beat
One heart beat for me
For Ayn

Poetry is beautiful or so they say
It's just ink - filled paper
Or typewritten chatter
Much to my dismay

You see, I think I now know what is true
Baby, word after word
No matter how absurd
Could be beautiful if made for you

Can you say no to my beating heart
The sound of my soul
The voice of my mind
Can you say no to the love that I give
The feelings I share
The kisses I offer
Can you say no to the mess that is us
The sweet, shared memories
The bright, clear future
Because if you can't
Then let's try once more

I'm lost in this world
Looking for signs
Searching for clues
Treading each step that will lead back to you

I'm losing you
Piece by piece
Heartache by heartache
But now here we prove that a broken heart's meant for two

I'm losing us
Little by little
Word by word
But I hope you come back while I keep coming after you

Come and drive by
Pick me up
Let me hitch a ride

Come and drive by
Maybe we could refuel
Knock a couple more kilometers

Come and drive by
Take some stops, buy some snacks
We could even swap seats

Come and drive by
And let's keep on going
Be my ride or die

What could love be other than a sidewalk sunflower?
A plant so bright , a sight to see
Yet just another part of the road for many

What could love be other than me
A guy so torn, a mess, that's me
Yet I place my eyes on you more than a second or two

What could love be other than us
A sidewalk sunflower, a mess of an admirer
And I will be here even after you wither

Let me in
To pick up the pieces
Stack them up
Arrange them neatly

Let me in
To tidy up
Clean every nook and cranny
To remove the mess I made

Let me in
To tell you I'm sorry
Shed a tear
And tell you "I'm home"
