A good lyric is like a good blade,
Able to make a precise cut into a person.

It shouldn't take much effort,
Just a few minute flicks of the wrist.

Whether your blade is that of a razor,
Or that of a pen,

You hold in your hand the greatest weapon,
Able to cut a person to the core.

But do you cut into their body or their soul?

I stand alone,
I go nowhere,
It's dark inside my head,
I don't know when I'll get there,
I feel your breath,
Creep up my neck,
It's been a while since you left,
I've been so cold, so just come back,

I'm all alone,
I'm set in stone,
All I've ever known,
Is darkness and despair,
I stand over you,
But you're too far to see me,
Too far to see the tears of grief,
Too far to see how much I really care,

You're not my angel,
You threw me away,
My wings are broken,
My halo's decayed,
You're not my savior,
I never prayed,
For you to break me,
Leave me to fray,

Amber mist and acid rain,
Drown me in this searing pain,
Hold me under, count to ten,
And let me rise to you again,

I haven't moved,
Since you said goodbye,
Since you left my chest wide open,
Since you drained the tears from my eyes,

You're not my angel,
You threw me away,
My wings are broken,
My halo's decayed,
You're not my savior,
I never prayed,
For you to break me,
Leave me to fray.

I saw a priest standing on the side of the road,
With a sign that said that the great Lord,
Would spare him a dime or two in exchange for his soul,

If the devil stood in the same spot,
Of that same road, with that very sign,
That said for a dime or two, he'd get your soul...

We'd be whipped into a panic, mass hysteria,
We'd incite a religious riot, and ****** our calloused hands,
We'd take our god and guns and shoot the devil down,
Right where he stood with the same **** sign as beloved Reverend Brown,

There's that man again on the TV, spreading the curse of God,
I wish I didn't have these ears that hear his horrid lies,
If God loves us equally, then why do we fight for him?
If God is so peaceful, then why does he make us fight for him?

We've been whipped into a panic, black mass hysteria,
We've incited a religious riot, and bloodied our calloused hands,
We've taken our gods and guns and shot the devil down,
Right where he stood with the same **** sign as beloved Reverend Brown.

Welcome to a world shot in black and white,
Where the pain never goes away,
Welcome to a place colored black as night,
Where the dead never see their graves,
It's a beautiful world and a beautiful sight,
Where us failures can come to play,
It's a peaceful place and it's locked up tight,
And the ****** are here to stay,

Welcome to the wasteland,
Where the outcasts come to shine,
Welcome to the end of your world,
Your dreams get ****** right into mine,

Welcome to a world filled with dirt,
Where we play in pins and needles,
Welcome to a place filled with hurt,
Where we can't numb the things we feel,
It's a filthy world, it's a filthy world,
We're **** and we've come to kneel,
It's a lackluster place in blackluster space,
And every night brings our last meal,

Welcome to the wasteland,
Where the outcasts come to shine,
Welcome to the end of your world,
Your dreams get ****** right into mine,
Welcome to the wasteland,
In the heart of your shining sun,
Welcome to the trenches, my friend,
The darkness ruins all of our fun,

Welcome to a world filled with hate,
Where the ground is stained with blood,
Welcome to a place where every end is frayed,
Where we all just pray for floods,
It's such a wicked world, such a wicked world,
There's a beast deep in everyone's head,
It's such a cruel world, such a cruel world,
They've left us here for dead,

Welcome to the wasteland,
Where the outcasts come to shine,
Welcome to the end of your world,
Your dreams get ****** right into mine,
Welcome to the wasteland,
In the heart of your shining sun,
Welcome to the trenches, my friend,
The darkness ruined all of our fun.

I've seen you here before,
The perfect stranger,
'I just need something more,'
I said in anger,
I know you'd stand by me,
If I told you I was incomplete,
Let me look into your deep blue eyes,
Until I say goodbye,

Take my hand and cross the line,

Take a leap of faith, my darling,
Close your eyes and feel the air,
Hear the depths of the chasm calling,
Calling you deeper into despair,

A loosening grip on reality,
You hold the poisoned fruit,
The human heart is duality,
A useless, failed pursuit,
Take a bite of the rotten apple,
Christen yourself into battle,
Give the order to fade away,
End the madness that is today,

Take my hand and cross the line,

Take a leap of faith, my darling,
Close your eyes and feel the air,
Hear the depths of the chasm calling,
Calling you deeper into despair,
The darkness holds you under,
You're starting to disappear,
Into the chasm, as you wonder,
'Does he see my freezing tears?'

The moon is shining bright,
But I stand behind the sun,
I'm hiding from you tonight,
The game's just too much fun,
Yours is the perfect shadow,
Like a mirror inside my eyes,
But the darkness in me dances solo,
So the light can't show its lies,

You're falling in love with me,
But I'm already too far gone.

An empty house, no walls or doors,
Cold wind blows and chills the floor,
A single window in the corner,
She's so lovely, how I adore her,
She's been asleep now for a few hours,
Sound asleep after her shower,
Blood-red stains on a perfect veil,
Stillness flows over skin so pale,

Sleep well, my love,

Get down, it's growing closer,
Put down the four leaf clover,
Gray skies and falling stars,
Locked doors and mental scars,
Dreams die and life will fade,
Mothers beaten, children betrayed,
You'll go just as you came,
With red-stemmed roses on your grave,

She wakes and stares into me,
Can't wait to lie and use me,
The smell of flesh, lofting, haunting,
Blood-stained blade, enticing, taunting,
The master butcher, I am sin,
I'll make you pay for what you did,
One cut, two, the floor is gone,
What once was right, turned so wrong,

Sleep well, my love,

Get down, it's growing closer,
Put down the four leaf clover,
Gray skies and falling stars,
Locked doors and mental scars,
Dreams die and life will fade,
Mothers beaten, children betrayed,
You'll go just as you came,
With red-stemmed roses on your grave,

I'm so cold, here in an empty nest,
Friendless, freezing, hardly the best,
At anything, no one's here to,
Keep me running, keep me focused,
So cold, dark, damp and empty,
I tell myself, 'I can't leave completely,'
Just enough to see over the edge,
Just enough to know it was all for the best.
