Blackbird why do you stay?
With wings so elegant,
You can sore high and mighty.
Leave us, breaking, delicate.
Why not use those wings to escape?

A world like a cookie,
Sweet and crumbling,
Short lasted and soon disappeared.
Yet you stay, fumbling,
Hoping to provide salvation.

Do you not realise your cause is lost?
No one cares for the extinct,
As soon, you’ll just be a bird in a shoebox.
It will be over soon, you blinked,
Now we have gone, all flown the nest.

You too can leave the wreckage,
Yet with your hope,
You will set out to make a change.
Be like the Pope,
Lead us to salvation.

Show us the promised land and together we will leave,
Fly Blackbird, fly, show us who to believe.
This one is about those with privilege and their potential to leave others but when they stay they can make a change, even if no one listens.

I
Float.
Floating
Through all
The hate that we
Hear, floating through
Pain and tears, yet my interior
Never cracks, protected by a shell
Knowing that I am untouchable, so why
Am I scared? Hearing the voices, the voices
Which are so loud and never quiet, they echo
Through my mind and in my dreams. Impossible
To shake, although I try. I want to scream and yet
The moment I open my mouth, my beauty vanishes.
You would rip from me the only thing that provides
Me with individuality and then mould me to fit rings
So that I may run in circles and question myself
So that I never realise that this shape society
Has moulded me into is not who I am, but
That who I am is beautiful and unique
My voice is silenced and
Yet yours is heard.

Why would you leave me to float as a single drop in this ocean?
Inspired by a person in my life, Maisie, which originates as meaning 'Pearl' hence the inspiration for this poem.

A beautiful cry with love for your hate,
How I love to know what you’ll create.
A mirage of truths, a symphony of lies,
But everything you touch surely dies.

How sad; sad to see it vanishing,
Abandonment, Desolation, Banishing.
Deeming all those to down below,
Not Hell nor Heaven, no one can know.

But that of which you decide to conceal,
Leave us with emptiness, nothing to feel,
A prolonged sense of absolute desire,
And our dreams will all be tossed in a fire.
Would that you were ever so sweeter,
Would life not be full of those who teeter
Between the lines of right and wrong,
Not knowing you end the black bird’s song?

Or would we be filled with hope and longing,
For the new world’s gradual dawning?
No matter what, we must recall,
Death is final,
                       but not for us all.
I wanted to write a poem about the beauty behind death and what it means to me, just curious if anyone has any interpretations of this poem of their own?

The cacophony of hatred,
These words, not sacred,
They fill me with loathing,
My memories not holding,
All this positivity.
It slips; away from me.

I can not, I will not,
Be a puppet to your thought,
That somehow my voice
Should not rejoice,
The rope around what I choose,
Will be a guide, not a noose.

You need to know I love me,
I love everything I see.
I love my heart; my heartbeat,
My toes, on my feet,
I love my rainbow-coloured soul,
Everything that makes me whole.
I’m here; I’m queer,
And I will NOT disappear,

At least not due to fear.
Today I was quite offended to hear some homophobic slur thrown at me which is where the inspiration for this came from almost as a fightback towards homophobes and everyone who discriminates to show that we will not be silenced and we will still love ourselves and the pride we feel.

We all scream with silence,
Accused of violence
Shunned by politics -
But even stones and sticks,
Can’t put out this fire,
This; uncontrollable desire.
A passion we feel,
For justice - It's real!

When you say our voice is powerless,
Do you not see that’s just cowardice,
Repressing this truth, this pride,
No secret can you hide.
That fear you’ve always accomplished
Through arrogance, never diminished,
This passion, exerted,
Never diminished - hope deserted.

Don't let people extinguish your power,
Let your voice out;    L-O-U-D-E-R
Scream from the rooftops,
Scream from your hearts,
Scream with hope,
Scream with love,
Scream together.
Reveal your power.
