The death of a friend always forces a change
makes you face the fact
that reality isn’t the norm
that you have to respond, not react
the world slips through your fingertips
like so many forgotten dreams
left by those that were left
those that can’t hold on any longer
death to life, living be done
i ate a forest and left the dirt for the trees
took more than i had to keep me free
eyes that turn me to stone
every walk ends in a seat
sitting for half our lives
running didn’t get us anywhere
and sleep is for the dead
a picture of a portrait of a disillusioned world
my lens isn’t rose, but crimson stained
hurt me, scold me, take me to the zoo
i left for me, you left for you
