The lesions sear like embers
glowing and growing into my insides
malignant and spreading; cancerous.
I claw at myself peeling back cells and layers
tearing through skin to yellowing fat and flesh
penetrating muscle and sinew and bone
tempting, daring my nerves to scream back at me.

The pain has been excruciating
I claw for its root, tearing deeper
hands bloodied and burning,
clamoring to the core of the cause
and tearing those parts from my form
and I'm cradling them tight to my breast
choking, croaking out mama's lullaby.
gracie, gracie
is a ghost
of the people
she loves the most

gracie, gracie
her soul shakes
with every single
breath she takes

gracie, gracie
hides her true face
when she dies
won’t leave a trace

gracie, gracie
stuck in her mind
trapped forever
left behind

gracie, gracie
all alone
talking away
at the phone

gracie, gracie
thought she was screaming
turns out she was
only dreaming

gracie, gracie
torn apart
now all she’s got
is a broken heart

gracie, gracie
loved you the most
but now she is
barely a ghost

gracie, gracie
you let her go
so she faded away
faded slow

A man
May want what he can't have

His heart may lack
What he desires the most

His smile may hide
His longing or feeling

But it is sin,
They say

So he will hide it all
For society

And pretend to be
"One of us"

Yet inside
He is different

In possibly
The most terrifying way imaginable

Let him have what he desires
For we are sinners too

If you don't think it's natural
Please open your eyes

Look outside and see the women
With their legs spread wide open

At one point that would have been "wrong"
But that changes

It all changes

So your mind should too
And accept it
I am surrounded by people
Who think my boyfriend is
Gay
Just because
He treats me with
Respect.
