Thoughts on paper,
Emotions in ink.
Verse that shows
What the artist may think.

Not just words
That rhyme or not.
It's a writer's emotion,
Their deepest thought.

To write great poetry
So deep and true,
It must come from emotions
Deep inside of you.

What you feel is what you write.
It helps to let it all out.
It's the perfect outlet
For those who don't scream and shout.

Do not be afraid
To let the world know.
Say what you think,
And let your emotions go

I remember when I was young
My life was like a ride on a swing
And my heart it always sung
With the joy the ups would bring.

But when the swing would ride down
My heart would no longer soar
It was almost unsettling
The depression overtaking my core.

The swing would go up
The swing would go down
Fill up my cup
And then pour it out.

Unnerving
Exhilarating
Painful
Complicating.

Up and down
Happy and sad
Continuous motion
From good to bad.

But little did I know
A swing ride isn't forever
You can easily jump off
And release your tether..

To the ups and downs.

It's sad to know you let me go
I thought for sure you were one in a million
I thought nobody wore their hat the same as you
but man, I was wrong

I thought for sure I loved you
But I loved the idea of you, its true
I will walk down the driveway and never turn back
leaving my thoughts of you at the door
Because i'm not that little girl anymore

My youth,

Innocence,

That once sparkle in my eye;

Stolen.

Robbed of a life that could have been,

That should have been.

But now, the strength never to have been seen before, arises.

Overpowers everything that was.

I turn my stolen youth to wisdom.

My innocence to a newborn maturity.

And that sparkle, now returns to appreciate life's beauty.

I stare life in the face.

Square in the eye.

And take it back.

This is now my opportunity to re-own my life,

and everything that has been taken from me.

I am here now, and I have survived.
When I close my eyes to sleep at night,
I see you lying there,
alone in bed so far away,
it just doesn't seem quite fair.

If wishes worked like magic,
that's not what I would see.
For you would be much closer,
lying next to me.

Your head would be upon my chest,
your leg draped over mine.
Softly, you'd be sleeping,
and life would be just fine.

And as I drifted off to sleep,
your arms would hold me tight.
Together we would dream the truth,
of this and every night.

That this is how we're meant to be,
together, intertwined.
Just look at all the paths we took,
each other just to find.

Wild hearts cannot be broken;*
Lack of the fear, lack of the emotion.

Too strong to be brought down.
Too careless for all of the commotion.

Too smart to play the cards of love and lust,
or of broken eyes and broken trust.
