Mud
The blue of the day is muddied into grey,
Littered with smoky clouds,
Colour sapped from the world,
Reds and greens all become brown.

The sun runs out of steam,
Freewheeling into night,
Letting twilight take its hand,
And drag away the bright.

A brief hint of purple,
Before blue, navy and black,
Broken up with pinpricks,
Glistening, flickering back.
