The things we keep close to our hearts
And in return reluctant to part
Are only things after all
And a reminder when we hear the call

That we begin our lives with only a breath
And leave this world totally bereft
Of all the things we have collected
But if we truly live are rejected

So how do we define what we keep
From material things that we seek
To fill in gaps of good times past
Holding memories in our hearts

But if we free ourselves of our worldly things
And really live life that experience brings
Isn’t that what life’s about after all
Live it to the maximum and be enthralled

I scream a silent scream but a whimper escapes
I ride the winds in this windless place
My spirit is cramped in this mortal shell
As I bend and twist in this earthly hell

Trapped in a world with freedom of choice
But work ever day and have no choice
'Fit into the mould and don't argue.'
'We've made it this way, it's what's best for you!'

But the years go by and a restless soul stirs
No longer able to hold back the purge
A cathartic release, an eminent end
As heart felt screams and wild winds blend

Whim
Carefree
Within me
Ideas abound
Feed and make me happy
No structure in my head they pound
Searching for the one idea that’s profound
Capture thoughts as they spiral around unknowing
Like alphabet soup swirling all around
Rhyming and rhythm they can sound
Ideas can not foresee
Thoughts will surround
Keeps me free
Simply
Vim
My attempt at a Diatelle

As I wander down a thin dirt trail
A leaf brushes upon my cheek
I become a part of my surrounds
Right down to the bugs beneath my feet

Light becomes dappled and smells anew
Air is still and silent
Then a distant sound of a haunting owl
Sounds out in defiance

I feel the swirling cool damp mist
Flow right through my skin
And as I wander through the forest
It swallows me deep within

I want to fill my little house,
my little house with books
Books within the crannies
And books within the nooks

Books that hold the test of time
Quiet constant friends
Books that take me on new journeys
Imagination sends

Sitting in my little house
My little house of books
I close my eyes and smell the smell
The magic smell of books

Books that hide special notes
Special notes for friends
Or are they there for me to find
Then to onward send

I want to fill my little house
My little house with books
Books with paper pages that,
Romance me with their looks

Books filled with people
that I will never be
Books filled with places
that I will never see

But within my little house
My books will make me see
There is no limit to the lives
I’ll live and see and breath
