There once was a man of eighty
He loved the feeling of liberty
He could never be confined
The trouble was when he dined
He marched about with his naked dignity

I watch from the window
I see the gardener there
As he approaches each shrub
As he caresses every foot of hedge
This I see from my lofty ledge

She comes along then
And takes her seat
Watching him in the summer heat
Seeing him reach and bend
Wishing she could be his friend

He notices her nearness
Sensing her following gaze
He smiles to himself in wonder
Would he  find the right words to say
Could he muster the courage today


Watching them
Watching each other
I realize people often play safe
Not wanting to make a mistake
But wishing to try for loves sake

There was a woman so blue
She cried so much, her tears filled her shoes
Along came a man with a cure
He hugged her and  she started to purr
Now she awakes and stretches with a "meow"

Dark and gloomy night
The sky like a blinking screen
Ink stains the plain page
Leaving ebony designs
Which heighten our dreams

Once upon a time
her day was filled with laughter
Then he stole her freedom
and she cried ever after

Once she could smile
the whole day through
After he came, she turned
sad, lonely and blue

Once she loved him
with every beat of her heart
Now her only wish
is that she never let this start

Once she felt happy
in the life that she was leading
Now her every memory
is of the way he left her bleeding

Once can never come again
somethings can never mend
She'll walk through life alone
Trust will never be her friend

I love fast
I love strong
I love like a red, hot flame
branding my flesh with your name

I love quick
I love long
I love like a deep oceans' storm
climbing with waves to your form

I love with frenzy
I love with madness
I love like a summer's tempest
leaving in my wake an answered quest

I love without doubt
I love without pause
I love like a flowing field of grain
taking the pleasure and the pain

I love through the day
I love through the night
I love like blue indigo dye
giving off the answers to why

Ignorance is no longer bliss
It is downright dangerous

Not understanding your fellow man
No more trying to do the best you can
Not learning the lay of the land
No time spent just trying to comprehend

Living life in an unmindful daze
Ignoring the signs of this extraordinary phase
Spending your time in an uninformed haze
Disregarding what is right in front of your gaze

So stop and spend time to discover
Just what hides behind every man's cover
To gather insight you might need to hover
Just stay the course and you'll eventually conquer

Once you stop neglecting the people you meet
Once you stop skipping by them in the street
Then you'll become aware that sharing is a treat
Then you'll go out of your way to make sure you greet

Being informed and mindful, that is bliss
Wanting to be you best and never feeling amiss
