dear school,
you taught me how to read
you taught me how to write
you taught me math
but you've taught me more than that

you've taught me who to love, who to avoid
who wants you to help, but won't fill your void
who to love, who to trust
who knows how to fall in love
the ones who only chase lust

you've taught me that this fast paced chase to be great
is nothing if you don't have faith
in yourself
you've taught me that this so called truth is laced with fake intents
and that people are two faced
when it comes me,

when it comes to you, my so called peers
i've learned you only judge on exterior
with no time to explore anything but my demeanor
with no time to wander in my mind
with no time but anything but what you call mine

teachers who block your creativity
fake friends, actually enemies
crazy lies, people with crazy lives
at what expense, all of yours and all of mine

everyday the overall torture
of being oppressed and abused
telling you what to do
when you're thinking if only they knew
what power was lying in you

school, you've taught me what i don't mind losing
you've taught me the power of choosing
you've taught me to return to my abuser
because in my head, i'm a leader
but at school i'm a loser.

i'm trying so hard
to learn how
to accept compliments
and actually believe it
i am trying
i really am
but no matter what
i just cant seem to grasp
why anyone would think
i have the ability to be pretty
i just
can't
