My Air
Zak Edwards Mar 2011
I spend my time waiting by the phone
In my room, in the dark, alone
Waiting to hear my favorite sound,
Your voice, so I'll just lay around

I spend my days dreaming the sun away
Waiting for that one more chance to say,
"I miss you, come and hold my hand"
Beach-bound, we'll play in the sand

I use all of my charm and guile
Finding new ways to may you smile
But if your tears come anyway,
I swear I'll wipe your fears away

How many ways can I find
To say the words on my mind?
"I love you", "I want you here with me",
I'd walk a thousand miles for you, you'll see

I'm cliff-diving with no water below
Rushing towards the ground, I know
But the air I'm falling through is you,
I close my eyes, maybe dreams come true

Me and you, Part 2
Zak Edwards Mar 2011
I remember your voice calling
I still hear those tear drops falling
Memories, chiming echoes in my head...

At first glance, I find myself missing
Your lips, they're made for kissing
And you say you miss the good ole' days

But we both listen to new bands now,
You wear a new ring on your hand now
And you still want me around anyways

Yeah, but I remember your voice calling
I can still hear those tear drops falling
Memories, of laying around in bed

Your pulse beating against my chest
Has got me spinning, my head a mess
And you still like the way I smell

I tried to let you move on now,
But you're still the one that I want now
And I can still make you laugh the same

I remember your voice calling
I still hear those tear drops falling
Memories, of kissing on summer days

It's time for me to grow up I guess,
To clean up my life, it's such a mess,
To find someone who makes me feel the same

But no one smiles quite like you do,
No one else makes me want to be true,
And you're the only one who calls me lame

Yeah, but I remember your voice calling
I can still hear those tear drops falling
Memories, of sunsets' dying rays

What can I really do?
When you've got me torn in two
I still want to kiss your tears away

In bed at the end of the day,
In my dreams, I get one more chance to say
That my heart doesn't beat, because
It's still with you
Yeah, I get one more chance to say
That after all this time,
I still love you...
I'm aware that the rhyme scheme is completely obliterated with the last bit, but I wanted it to reflect the confusing I felt at the time. Aside from that, I thought that it flowed rather smoothly.

Becoming Infinite
Zak Edwards Sep 2011
But I'm not tired
The whisper trickling down my neck
     lapping like
          amorous waves tasting the shore
Lips reachingseekingsearching
          feather-light kisses
     pale skin, so crisp, kissable
          (somuchloveinyou)
The crystal words falling, tasting
like ***** of happiness, dipped in salt

A sigh, inhaling softly
          my name rushhushtumbling
          escaping, seeking
     The touch, caressing, mesmerizing,
          holding tightly to

     Dreams of yesteryear

That night,

So sweetly ever do I dream

The Best of Spinning
Zak Edwards Apr 2012
I can hear your voice,
so clearly in my head,
words like bells ringing once again,
and sitting still I spin

Madness lies, cold and
lonely, in my bed, in my head,
waiting for the sun to rise
on jaded, hazy eyes

Remembered cries,
remembered lies,
it's no surprise that
forever fell short again

Another empty night
spent looking for old friends
in darkened bottles'
bottom ends

Whoever knew?
life can be so hollow
I guess it's true, nothing
comes close to me and you

Even though, I don't know
which way I want to go,
just wait around, I'm certain
I'll come back to you again
this is just a rough draft, it definitely needs something more, I'm just not sure what yet. constructive criticism is always appreciated!

Hey You
Zak Edwards Mar 2011
Hey you,
It feels like it's been a long time
Since I've felt your heart beat against mine

Hey you,
It's so hard not to miss
The sugar-sweet taste of your lips

And where does the time go?
Comin' so far
From where we started so long ago

'Cause I remember those days,
Cool waves, sun rays,
And stolen kisses on summer days

Hey you,
I just wanted you to know
My favorite job is still being a pillow

Hey you,
I fell in love too soon,
But I can't think of anything but my moon

And where does the time go?
Comin' so far
From where we started so long ago

And I still remember those days,
Cool waves, sun rays,
And stolen kisses on summer days

Hey you,
It will always be true,
That my heart belongs only to you

Hey you...

Still awake on a
Black velvet star-lit night
Gazing, missing the
Remembered grin of the moon
Empty longing for your face

The Words Unspoken
Zak Edwards Mar 2011
There's a gap in my defenses,
There's a hole in my guard,
I'm pulled to you like a moth to flame,
And your smiles don't make it hard

My head won't stop spinning,
You've got my feet off the ground,
I'm walking with my head in clouds,
And there's no way I'm coming down

Letting my head go this time,
Cause my heart knows what to do,
And if it happens to get broken,
I'll pick the pieces up with you

If the sun doesn't shine
Quite as bright as it used to,
I'll remind you how great rain can be
When soaking wet, I kiss you

Whispers sent through the air,
I'm just wondering where this game can go,
One player just learning the rules,
The other a jaded old pro

Letting my head go this time,
Cause my heart knows what to do,
And if it happens to get broken,
I'll pick the pieces up with you

Echoes of years spent longing,
I don't know what I can do,
Because I heard your voice again,
And remembered how much I miss you

Your face is lightning seared in my head,
Your laughter rays of sunshine,
Your tears slash through my world,
And I recall when you were mine

Letting my head go this time,
Cause my heart knows what to do,
And if it happens to get broken,
I'll pick the pieces up with you

Every minute I'm waiting,
My heart beating steady and slow,
Summer days seem far away,
When my sight is filled with snow

Thinking of you before I sleep,
Your voice calls to me in dreams,
Soft-spoken words remind me that
Little is as it seems

Letting my head go this time,
Cause my heart knows what to do,
And if it happens to get broken,
I'll pick the pieces up with you

I'll let the years roll off of me,
I'll be as patient as solid stone,
I'll treasure the days I've spent dreaming,
Just for a chance not to be alone
